I am on turn 263 and have eliminated all but 2 AI factions. At the beginning of a turn, after seeing the usual message about saving, I got the following screen. After about 5 minutes, I hit the ESC key with no effect. I then hit the ESC key repeatedly and suddenly this screen disappeared, and I was back able to play the game. Does anybody know what this screen is supposed to be? <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/64/79/6479257/fb1881ab-1f3d-41c5-b0b0-df7a

I have encountered a puzzling situation when attacking a nest. The first screen snapshot shows the fleet with which I am attacking and the second screen snapshot shows what I am attacking. Logically, I should be able to destroy the nest with no problem, but the third screen snapshot shows a battle prediction that says that I will incur light casualties and they will incur no casualties. How can that be? When I attacked, the fourth screen snapshot shows that I did not

After playing 0.80 as the Baratak for a day and a half, I have the following positive observations: I LOVE the fact that, when you successfully invade a planet, your ships remain outside the planet. In previous versions, I was constantly losing fleets that disappeared into planets after invading and I spent a lot of time trying to find them again. I think your new options for displaying the grid are a good way to let each player choose how the grid displays as t

I do not understand why this would be difficult to fix. When the user clicks on the icon to go to the next turn you could disable the Ideology icon or the whole window containing all of the icons. When it is the user's turn again, you could enable it again. If that is not doable for some reason and assuming the program is multi-threaded, you could use signalling objects like an EventWaitHandle in C# to cause the thread that is dealing with Ideology to wait until it is the user's t

I accidentally stumbled on a bug when selecting an Ideology Trait using a Culture Point. the bug allows you to get all available Traits in all Ideologies even though you only have 1 culture point to spend. In order for this to work, you must have a Culture Point to spend at the end of a turn. If you click on the icon to go to the next turn and then IMMEDIATELY click on the Ideology icon you will be able to click on all available Traits in all Ideologies without it looking li

As a follow-up, by doing different actions I have been able to continue playing the game from the save I provided above, but it is now crashing every 2 or 3 turns. These crashes always seem to be related to selecting or moving a ship or fleet. This has made continuing this game extremely unpleasant, so I am going to start a new game. I think this time I will try the Baratak Grove and see how they play.

I am 251 turns into a game and I have 12 possible Executive Orders. The first screen snapshot shows the first 9 and the second screen snapshot is after I scroll right and shows the other 3 Executive Orders on the far right.

As you progress in the game, more Executive Orders will become available. The window containing the icons only displays up to 9 icons (on my computer). Once you get at least 10 icons the scrolling will work.

I am at a point in the game where I should be able to train a citizen as a Quantum Physicist, but it appears that I need Lab Equipment in order to do that (see screen snapshot below). Does anyone know how to get Lab Equipment? Is this a part of the game that is not finished yet?

I tried putting my cursor in the window containing the icons and scrolling and it worked! However, from a user point of view that is not the proper mechanism to use. Up at the top of the screen where all of the resources are displayed you have scroll arrows to move left or right. I suggest that you do the same thing with the Executive Orders window. Using the mouse wheel, which is usually used to scroll up and down, to scroll left and right is not intuitive.

Here is a link to a save in DropBox that can be used to recreate a hard crash by following these steps: Load the saved game Find the "Mimot Brotherhood Tojil Fleet II" fleet and click on it to select it. It is a 10 ship fleet near Betria IV. (see the first screen snapshot below) The easiest way to find it is to select Betria IV in the colony list, then look right and u

As I was playing a game as the Mimot Brotherhood (my favorite!) I noticed that the Executive Orders icon at the bottom of the screen had the number 10 in a circle slightly above and to the right of it, so I clicked on it to see what Executive Orders were available. As you can see from the screen snapshot below, there are only 9 Executive Order icons visible and 2 of those are disabled because I recently executed them so they will not be available again for a while. My question is:
There are some improvements that reduce pollution (wildlife refuge). Protect the Planet policy is broken and will be fixed in the next patch, so that the math is less confusing.
That is good to hear. We understand that the game is a work in progress so there are still a lot of rough edges. Hopefully, you will take the time to look at ALL of the parts that involve math (polluti

It is interesting that you bring-up growth because that is another puzzling value. Growth Per Month is expressed as a decimal value, not a percent, but all of the factors (except for the races) are percentages. If I sum the 2 race values (9 + 3) I get 12. If I sum all of the percentages, I get 458.6%. If I multiply the sum of the values by the sum of the percentages, I get 55.032, not the 67.03 that is shown in your screen snapshot. Therefore, there must be some

Thank you to both AdamMG and aerez4546 for the explanation. It is interesting to see how some percentage values are additive and some are multiplicative. Hopefully, some of the programmers are reading these threads and agreeing that the numbers need to be presented in a better way. My first suggestion would be to show the math in the popup that appears when you hover over the pollution number. My second suggestion would be to show the additive numbers as decimal numbers (i.e. .5, .1, et

I have been playing around with Pollution and I am having a hard time understanding the math. Can someone please explain how the math works? I have included a screen snapshot below for one of my planets showing the detailed information for Pollution. I would guess that you would sum the percentages below the Base Pollution line, then apply that percentage to the Base Pollution number, but that would yield a net Pollution number of 6.16% ((1.0 - .5 + .16 + .1 - .2) * 11).&nbs

I am playing the latest test version (Beta_0.77b.278074) as the Mimot Brotherhood and have reached a point where performing a specific set of moves will crash the game. The steps to recreate are: Load the save located in DropBox at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvypp1hafmj8gp4/CrashDemo.GC4Sav?dl=0 Click your way through all of the "Contract Traders Complete" and "Research Mission Co

I tend to prefer creating fleets of ships with missiles. After researching some number of technologies related to missiles, those ships gain the ability to perform an attack from a distance in addition to directly engaging in battle. The question I have is, how do I know the strength of the missile volleys? The first screen snapshot below shows a fleet of 10 ships with missile weapons. The second screen snapshot shows the popup that appears when I

When you assign a Leader to a Faction, does the Leader's traits (intelligence, Social, etc.) affect the benefits gained? If so, how do you know which traits are most desirable for each faction? Knowing this would help make good decisions on which Leader to assign to which Faction. Hovering over the title bar of the Natural League faction does display a popup with a description of which traits the Natural League desires (first screen snapshot below), but none of the others

I started another game with the same settings and have encountered another very strange setup. I have discovered and explored 12 solar systems and have discovered 19 planets. All of them were Class 1 or 2. None of them were of a Class that you would consider turning into a Core world. What is going on with the code for initializing games???

Yes, I have played a number of games with these same settings and I have almost always had 2 other civilizations in my starting sector, but I have never had one right next to me. I exited the above game and started another one with the same settings and I did NOT get another civilization right next to me (at least I have not run into one yet), but I have encountered another undesirable issue. I am only on the 4th month, but I have discovered 4 planets with a class of over 5 (i.e

Version 0.77b automatically downloaded to my computer this afternoon so I started a new game as the Mimot Brotherhood. When the screen displayed for my first turn (first big screen snapshot below) I was somewhat dismayed to see that there was another civilization RIGHT NEXT TO ME! The second screen snapshot below shows my galaxy settings. Of particular note is that "Civilization Proximity" is set to "Distant" and the "Starting Sector Size" is set to
