I am running the latest version (see first screen snapshot below) and I have run into an interesting bug. In the upper right-hand corner of the second screen snapshot below, you can see that I have selected the advisors list. The bug is that, if you double-click on the third item in the advisors list (The citizens of Derda IV are unhappy) the screen changes to the third screen snapshot below and there is no way that I have found to get out of it. The only thing I can do is c

I may have found a contributing factor. When I go to the "Opponent Settings" screen, it starts at 15 opponents so I just accepted that default. However, as the second screen snapshot below shows, when you hover over the top sections that says "15/15 Max Players" a little popup appears that shows that the recommended number of opponents is 8 for the "A Few" Number of Sectors galaxy setting. Wouldn't it make more sense for the default number of opponents to be the recommende
I started another new game with the same settings and this time, after only 3 turns, I have discovered another civilization in the very next star system! Something is not right.
I just started a new game with the new version that just downloaded this morning as the Corporate Sector. I am only 58 turns in and I have already discovered 4 other major civilizations and one minor civilization in my starting sector even though I set "Number of Sectors" to "A Few" (the middle setting) and "Civilization Proximity" to "Distant". I have included 3 screen snapshots below: the properties of my GalCiv4.exe file what my starting sector looks li
Suggestion for the developers: If, as you move a constructor, the circle around the constructor does not accurately indicate which resources and relics will be captured if you turn the constructor into a starbase, perhaps you could visually indicate which resources and relics will be captured by highlighting them in some way ( background color change, brighter color, enhanced border, etc.). Either that or stop using a circle and instead outline the cells that would be affected i
Publius of NV, You cannot build a module to study a relic unless the starbase has a relic in it's area of influence. The second screen snapshot in my second post shows that the starbase has 2 Research relics. The second screen snapshot of my first post does not show any relics. The question is, why doesn't the starbase in my first post show that it has a Research relic when a Research relic is clearly inside the circle of influence for the starbase?
Publius of NV, Here are 2 screen snapshots of another starbase that is studying 2 Research Relics so I don't think it is a matter of not having researched a tech yet.
I have a starbase that encloses a Research Relic (see first screen snapshot below), but when I hover over the relic the message indicates that my starbase is NOT studying the relic. When I enter the starbase (see second screen snapshot below) it does not show that the Research Relic is being studied. Is there something that I am missing about how the starbases work? <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/64/79/6479257/47ee2cc4-0427-449c-8e6e-48f0281fb5ff.p
Update: I started saving the game before clicking on the next turn icon and I was able to get a save that will duplicate the issue: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jdklblg0ua7sk4b/TurnSave%2C%20First%20Drengin%20Under%200.70.GC4Sav?dl=0 All you need to do is load the game then click on the next turn icon and you should get stuck after all of the AI's have taken th
I have gotten stuck twice when moving to a new turn. The symptoms are: I have clicked on the icon to move to the next turn and all of the AI's have taken their turn. I can scroll and zoom and click on ships and planets - all of that activity works When I hit the Esc key I get the menu, but the "Save Game" and "Load Game" buttons are disabled and when I hover over one of those 2 keys I get the message that says "Please wait until your turn." (see the sc
I just saw that I now have version 0.70. Is it OK to use that to load and run saved games or should we start a new game to do our testing?
When you click on the icon to go to the next turn, there is a series of events that occur before you can do something with a ship in the next turn: any ships that have pending moves will execute those moves if one of those ships surveys a ship graveyard, whatever the graveyard held will be displayed if you have any ships on treasure hunting, research, or resource hunting missions and those missions complete, you will see those results <l
With both the Everwar and the Against the Tide galactic achievements, when they are completed, all wars are automatically ended. Why? As a player, I should have the option to seek peace with any civilizations with whom I want to seek peace and continue to engage in war with those with whom I want to continue fighting. The reason is, I cannot just declare war again immediately, I have to wait for some number of weeks to pass (25?) before I can declare war again. My su
As has been previously reported, using an artifact to add 2 usable regions to a world does not work correctly in most cases. This most often happens with worlds that already have a large number of usable regions. This post is to document an apparent side-effect of the failure to add the usable regions. Normally, when you have made improvements on all of the available regions, the area in the lower left-hand corner of the screen that shows the icons for available improvements
I started a new game as the Mimot and my starting galaxy has a black ring hiding the outer cells of the galaxy. I can send a ship into the black ring, but I lose the ability to select the ship when I do. I can hover over it to display what it is, but I cannot select it. In the first screen snapshot below you can see the probe named Theia that is just into the black ring. The second screen snapshot is zoomed out so you can see that the black ring completely surrounds th
I noticed that version 0.65 just downloaded so I started a new game and took the options to use my previously saved galaxy settings. Everything looked good (I like the new sliders) until I clicked on the Victory Conditions button and got the following empty window. Just thought I would let you know.
I just finished a game that went over 500 turns and ended with a technology victory and I thought I would give a few observations and suggestions: I encountered the previously described situation where the game gets stuck on an opponent's turn and the way to "unstick" it is to hit the "Esc" button then select the "Resume" option. This happened many times and seemed to happen when it was the turn of one or the other of 2 specific opponents of the 16 total opponents.
I do not know if this was on the list of fixes, but applying the Chimeric Biomass to a world still does not work in 0.6. The following screen snapshot shows a world where I applied a Chimeric Biomass. The class of the world increased from 18 to 20, but if you count the tiles there are only 18 and no undeveloped tiles.
My issue: As the game progresses, it gets painfully slow. I have a save file here that you can use to see what I am talking about. It is a save that is just prior to clicking on the next turn icon after completing 395 turns. I am playing as the Mimot Brotherhood against 16 opponents in a "Galactic Arm" galaxy size. My machine h
Unfortunately, I do not know it is going to get stuck until it gets stuck because the extractions do not occur until you click on the icon to go to the next turn. I have set the game to auto-save after every turn so I might be able to send you the previous auto-save file. I will try to upload these the next time it happens. As a former programmer, I suggest that you look at the code for opening the window that lets the user select a citizen to load in a transport and ask yoursel
I have encountered an issue a few times for which I think I have finally identified the cause. After clicking the icon to go to the next turn, the game gets stuck showing just the blue icon in the bottom-left corner (first screen snapshot below). When this happens the menu that is available by hitting the {ESC} key still works, but the game is otherwise stuck. When I save the game, exit the game, restart the game, and load the saved game there is an icon showing that I have
It appears that there is something unexpected with the way that influence is being calculated. The first screen snapshot below shows an area that is an example of the problem. I am playing as the Mimot Brotherhood (blue area) and I have captured a group of 5 worlds from the Onyx Hive (brown area), but the area around the captured planets still shows that the Onyx Hive have overwhelming influence. The second screen snapshot below shows what that same area looks like a
This is what I am getting? What do I need to do to get in? I have tried 5 times and keep getting the same thing.
When I hover over a planet OUTSIDE my sphere of influence I get a popup describing the planet as expected (first screen snapshot). However, when I hover over a planet INSIDE my sphere of influence I do not get the popup (second screen snapshot). Instead, I have to click on the planet to get a window in the lower left-hand corner of the screen giving a rather inadequate description of the planet (third screen snapshot). Further note: It appears that the planet popup DOES ap
Another interesting behavior with respect to the rapidly increasing influence radius is that when a new turn starts, not all of the new cells are visible (first screen snapshot below). However, when I move my probe 1 cell, all of the cells in my new expanded sphere of influence become visible. I would expect the cells in the new expanded sphere of influence to be visible at the beginning of my turn BEFORE I do anything. This also shows you how rapidly my sphere of influence is exp
