I like this plan. It's a reasonable cost, and it seems to provide a lot of content for that cost, and as such is an easy sell.

If the game is going to have edge scrolling and a windowed mode, them we should have an option to lock the mouse to the screen to make better use of it. It's irritating to have to play 'hunt the scrolling zone' when trying to play in a window.
Oddly, it didn't spawn until my city hit level 2. Weird.
I'm on a campaign I started, and I'm at the point in Book 1 where I have to remove an ogre, build a town, get 25 crystal and trade it to Carrodus (I think). However, the mines by the ogre's camp are both Iron mines! Is my campaign hosed? Thanks.
[email protected] is what I've been mailing. Yeah, I figured they'd be overwhelmed, with the retail stores dropping the ball on the distro, and the game being so much fun & all. Thanks Brad, I'll try that.
SInce this board is moving too fast...bump.
I've sent them a couple emails with roughy ther following: "I'm a beta tester. How can I order the OEM final CD?" I've not gotten a response, and I've sent 3 emails over the past 3 days. Given, I use Hotmail so any one of them could have been lost in the ether, but I'd still like a response. So I'm asking how long is reasonable to wait before I get irritated?
How long is the turnaround on Stardock sales? I'm still trying to get instructions on ordering the Galciv CD.
T-Man, you're missing his point. No matter WHAT you put into SDC's proxy settings, it just uses the IE ones. So if I have a proxy set in IE, but NOT in SDC, it uses the proxy. If I don't set one in IE, but I do in SDC, it doesn't use the proxy. I don't use a proxy myself normally, but I set one up on my home network to test this problem, and I verified this. The proxy settings in SDC do nothing - the program ignores them in favor of the ones set in IE.
SDC is nice and all, but I'm still looking to get SD to send me a CD. I understand it's a nominal cost to do so, but when do the offers go out? If they have (and I somehow haven't gotten the email) how can I resolve this?
ACTUALLY.... The Pools of Radiance problem was multifold, but worked as follows: 1) You had insufficient space for installing the game on the C: drive, since the game wouldn't let you install it anywhere else. 2) When the installed failed due to insufficient space, you then tried to use the uninstaller, which then got confused and started erasing stuff it shouldn't. This BY NO MEANS happened to everyone. In fact, based on several polls (given, online so suspect),
Doh, nevermind, I should read more closely
Where is this on the page? I can't find it, I just see a data dump of various techs/projects/etc
FS will have it. They're just clueless....I can't even begin to count the number of games they've gotten on or right after release day and haven't even known about.
I was under the impression that if you purchased GC through Dregin.net you had the option pay to get a DVD-cased CD delivered to you. At least, that's what Frogboy's been swearing up and down on these forums.
Okay, I think this has been answered before, but in the latest round of press releases I'm confused again. I purchased a beta test. Upon March 25th, I assume I will be able to DL the GalCiv release version just like I currently can with the betas. (BTW, why can I download it with Game Manager but not Stardoc Central? Weird.) Will we still be getting a CD+Manual+box sent to us? Or are we going to have to pay a small premium? Thanks for any answers. I'm really looking
So far every reviewer that gave it a low mark I have historically disagreed with, and every one that gave it a high mark I've historically agreed with. So, I'm going to wait and see.
Are we now at the limited gamma stage? Or are we still going to see new betas after 5C?
Guys, I think it comes down this: 1) The requirements can probably be lowered to probably a p2-400/128M for most gameplay. 2) The recommended machine should be somewhat higher - say a p3-800/256M? Nonetheless, there should be a warning in the readme.txt of the game that on the largest galaxy sizes turn times can rise dramatically, even on a top-of-the-line machine.
I've reported that second one before. Basically, it ends up that if you have cartloads of money coming in, NEVER save & reload, because if you do you're screwed. I suspect it's because some aspect of the economy gets off-kilter in the game as you play, and when you reload it recalculates and fixes the problem.
I found a rather interesting race condition on my PC when quitting the galciv.exe program. If RIGHT when you get to desktop you immediately try to start another process, the new one doesn't start properly or the last one hangs - I'm not sure which, I just see a galciv.exe sitting there in my active processes that doesn't go away. Is this just my machine, or does galciv drop back to desktop before doing all of its process cleanup?
Last I asked, the official response was "If you want to learn how to play, RTFM." (Paraphrase)
I'm not sure if this is a bug, but if it isn't it should be. Here's how you can reproduce the bug - get a class 26+ planet, get the population to the 20+ billion range, and then build a colony ship. By manipulating the slider, you can only get roughly 5% of your population on the ship at a minimum. You use the arrows to lower that, but going from 1000 to 200 is _really_ tedious. Can we get a little more granularity on the first step of that slider?
I should add that I tend to find more than a few 17+s around...they're just all other people's planets, often way across the galaxy, right adjacent to an enemy homeworld (and thus taken) or somewhere else they're hard to get at.
I've been playing on-and-off for the entire beta 4 series, and I'm noticing something odd that keeps on happening. Basically, it seems that I'm having a lot harder time finding "good" planets (class 17+). It's not that they're particularly _rare_ in the galaxy, its that all I ever see seeded around my starting location are class 14, 15, and maybe 1 or 2 16s. I'm playing on "common" habitable planets in a medium galaxy. In at least 2 recent games, I've had more then 12
