Thank you, thank you, thank you!
No problem, I am always willing to help an ally in need, well not always, but this time. That'll be +70bc, +1 Prometheon, and +2 Thulium, please.
I was hoping for some sort of planetary or orbital based anti-ship defenses like you have in MOO
They have never been in the GC franchise. Which isn't to say they never will be in GC4 (it's always a possibility, right?), but don't count on it. If you want to defend your planets, you need a navy. Even the military starbases' primary purpose is to support naval combat within its zone of influence.&nbs
Just curious, what galaxy sizes are you guys playing with? Right now, I've been mostly playing with just a few smaller sectors, and the Mimots don't feel OP. Strong, but not OP. But I can see how on a bigger map, or a map with a lot of planets, the Mimots would just be insane.
Hey there! Here's a screenie of my galaxy settings. Easier than trying to explain it. As I mentioned above Mimots g
Tid242 this is an excellent response and now that I think about it, your position is far better. I think the Drengin should be all about war, best weapons/defenses, faster techs in those areas and start wars faster and sustain with high production for ships. That's interesting that Prestige Vic is possible without expanding. That definitely adds a wrinkle in potential ways to win. That's good to know. Mimot: yea, I think food should be more of an important system generally speaking. After all, if you can't eat - you don't have an empire..
I also see no evidence that Stardock wants our input on low-level mechanical details. The lack of feedback is frustrating. If they were to tell me to stay in my lane and tell me what that lane is, I would comply. It makes me wonder why I'm even here. Perhaps I really need to step away for awhile.
No sense in getting too worked up about it, it is just a game after all. !! hah
The Mimot are just out of control. They are at least a full difficulty level stronger than anyone else at the only strategy that matters. If you are not the Mimot and they spawn in your sector, you might as well restart (assuming that you are playing a difficulty level that would otherwise be challenging).
lol, well as a datapoint, the Mimot in my game got wiped out (playing with all AI's on "bright").

Great post. +karma. edit: In the middle of a very trying Drengin game myself. I was going to comment on this thread about them. but I think they will get their own. It was a pleasure to read your perspective DivineWrath, it was nice to see that another player seems to be (my perspective on what you said) underwelmed by the Drengin also - I couldn't tell if it was just me or what.. Thanks for posting.
I think adding more on map abilities to weapons is not a good idea. It's detracting from the actual battles.
+1 I agree with this sentiment. And I suspect that's why people are more interested in missiles having a ranged attack be "their thing", with beams & kinetic getting something different.

The Mimot are good. But I disagree with the basic thrust of the argument. The Mimot don't need to be nerfed - nothing in the above suggestions make them more fun to play. Rather every other civ needs to be similarly OP in their own unique way. Generally speaking, food is not a strong limiting mechanic in GC4. It would help matters if it were more important, every empire should be vulnerable and in disarray if its citizenry is
... but mimots are in a class all their own because they have no downside to them. mimot have best growth and best ship production. smaller ships overall but at double the rate and with tons of weapons for each ship. just put them at tier M at the top [e digicons]:P[/e]
EVERY civ needs an equally broken mechanic all their own...
I'm reluctant to move Onyx too high because they are so dependent on the RNG of promethion availability.
If the Onyx got a static (on planet, or in-system) prometheon supply, would this dramatically increase player's enjoyment of playing them? (I have not played Onyx (in 3 nor 4)). ie would this one simple and reasonable adjustment bring them from low tier to decent tier?
thing about armor shred is defenses are already kinda not good enough. making them worse isnt the way to go i think. it would just make no one use armor, and would be useless against ships that arent using armor. i like the idea of combining your sensor tag debuff with a movement debuff too btw. smokey broken engines for a couple turns [e digicons];)[/e] for the record i think i would really like the armor shred idea if the
That's interesting. I also worry that giving range to everyone will make missiles less special. I wonder if it would be cool if kinetic attacks disabled repair for a time?
I like the idea, but repair isn't going to make-or-break between multiple rounds of battle. Healing 4hp or not isn't going to swing a huge series of fleet battles. Which is why I settled on the idea of armor (ie defense) shre
Or... balance out combat, and add a situationally useful and appropriate perk to Beam & Kinetic. I had proposed something on the discord that got limited accolades (unless everyone liked it after I went to sleep or something). I had proposed something along the following: Missile: as they are - get a ranged attack that's useful situationally. Beam: - Give

As another datapoint. My MP has been a lot less stable than others have been describing. The above commenter mentioned 5-6 crashes per 3 hours. I experienced 5-6 crashes in an hour or so last night (2 human players). But did not encounter any reproducible hard-stops, restarting always cleared whatever the specific roadblock was. I put up quite a few debugs in the discord sitrep-90 channel. I was contemplating what may be contributing to this and flat-out
I am open to different ideas on how to provide the information to the players. My main point is that the current method is repetitive and annoying and, in the case of asteroid miners, confusing. I think the higher-level suggestion is to combine all of the things that happened between when you chose to end your turn and when you can select objects (ships, planets, etc.) again on your next turn in one popup window or, as slarjy

Whenever there's an event that has to do with a leader, there should just be the leader card that you can see (makes you feel more like you're actually talking about one of your peeps), that you can also click on to enlarge to regular size so that you can see if you actually give a damn at all about said leader.
