This hit me again early in the game. I saved the game, reloaded, and I was able to access the planet screen correctly for one turn. Then it came back. The first time I got the left side pushed over about 90% so very little at the bottom of the lefthand screen was visible. After a reload and one good display, when I tried to access the planetary screen again the left-hand side was totally gone. I guess I should wait for version 80 to go live, and then report

The Drengin would like to eat their yolks and have them too. What else is new. (Apologies couldn't think of a better yolk).
Stardock has pretty good track record of improving the AI, a process which normally heats up toward the very end of development. So I just use normal and see what happens.
I have been trying to use a lot of random opponents. I have noticed in the last couple of games that with two specified aliens chosen and the rest set to random, the game will not start and reports that "no opponents have been chosen". I have to manually put in 2-3 new opponents from the list of potential opponents before I can start the game. I have tried with all opponents chosen and no specific civilizations chosen this message also is generating. It appears,
(Looking at the list) Just, like... wow. I want! Now! Or Drengin KILL! ... oops sorry slipped into character.
This reminds me that I have never hit the Prestige relations level that triggers galactic hate. My games are pretty much done about 50% prestige, and I start over. Even then I am putting 30-40 hours in (according to the game). I think playing longer isn't going to help anyone, and "winning" and "losing" in a beta is not even how one should be thinking about it, in my opinion. Not that it isn't fun to be number 1 in everything. You may have
I agree with this. The game is in beta and it is changing constantly. Therefore if you can see your way clear to a win, declare yourself the winner and start another game, perhaps making different choices for the setup. Then you get to check out different ideas and perhaps be able to provide new feedback or bug reports. It can be fun to just blow up hapless aliens for a while, but then, for the good of the game, it's time to move on. The "achievements"
I am on main branch 77b. I set up my latest run with sectors to maximum and size of sectors to small, with 20 civs in all. Note: I had a problem getting the game to start until I put in 2-3 designated civs instead of all random. Seems to be a minor bug. The result was very interesting. I should note that this setup wants 32 gb of memory, but I have that, so no problem. I am now on roughy turn 200 and out of 20 civs, I have contacted exactly four counting me,
I think that an option to employ the view, as I believe was implented in GC3, covers all bases nicely. I have stated I don't think I would like a battle viewer, as it seems like fluff to me --- since only the result is important for determining how to best build a fleet. However, it certainly could be implemented as an option for each battle and I wouldn't object to that. I.E. I don't think Stardock is going to offend people by putting it in, but as this di
I am playing at 1920x1080 and I get this. Actually gets to the point where the left hand list is completely obscured (77b). Reloading the game does seem to help sometimes. But when it happens the planet cannot be managed.
I don't fear the Mimots. In games against them they were no threat. Maybe I have just been lucky! But AS the mimots....well....you saw the score. That is scary, and may have already gone to my head. For my next serious run, I will not be playing the mimots. Which is also scary...I can see myself..."What?! I don't see the second colony ship!", etc.
Planet screen intermittent bug: I got this bug regularly, then with .75 (I think) it seemed to be much less frequent. Now with .77B, I am getting it again. Annoying because certain choices for planet building can't be made. A very temporary workaround seemed to work sometimes is to save, exit the game, and restart. But it will pop up again after a few correct iterations. It does happen after you get the "planet XXX is unhappy" and when you c
I am trying to think of how to save this mechanic while slowing it down. Perhaps by strongly nerfing research...so they could still build a lot of ships but they wouldn't be state of the art. Either that or nerf mimot construction. But that would wind up being the same thing...half as much production for double ships would be much too harsh, as it would hammer every other type of production.
I think almost everybody will agree with this. The pattern is that these "exclusivity" agreements last one year, and then things are wide open. As far as Stardock is concerned, they are a small developer, and making their stuff available in the least expensive way possible probably explains the use of EPIC to start out. Oh well. The best thing that could happen is that the game is wildly popular (my choice) and Steam regrets their terms weren't as attractiv
I started another playthrough, and I choose the Mimot, since they were the weirdest one I could think of. I did know a bit more going into this run, but....as you can see from the summary at turn 181, the Mimots might just be a tad overpowered. I mean, double ships? I did not think that this would happen. Nothing unusual seemed to happen during this rofl-stomp, I mean game, so...maybe double ships is a bit much. Just saying. <img src="ht
I find that if the name of a shipyard is long, which is often the case, the little > that you want to click to move to the next shipyard is absent. I can still click on the end the shipyard entry and it will advance to the next shipyard, but it is hit or miss. I might add that there are various instances in the game where long names causes difficulty; I am confident that the devs are well aware of this but its like a power outage. I always call in
Anything that automates just about anything is a good thing. Very much in favor of this kind of QoL stuff.
And it doesn't matter much what you do if you have 32 gb. And I actually thought maybe it was overkill when I built it. Perish the thought.
Waging war in GC4 my .02 $ worth. Playing on Normal with version 77b (not the test), I managed a fairly dominating (? I thought) lead on the rest early on (turn 153): first figure shows the summary. The second picture shows the galactic layout of the various civs. I think it is fairly reasonable to suppose that this game is well in hand; it's at this point that I wish to make a few comments. I played for another 100 turns or so, and the situa
Ah thanks. It's not like it affects gameplay... as long as you don't use it to guide your actions.
the graph is at the same place in the game as the summary display on top. It looks trivial, or maybe 17th in influence is actually the best?
Whenever I get the message "the citizens of xxx are unhappy" and click on the message, the screen clears off and leaves only the top line of the display. One way out of it that I have found is to click on the "research" entry area; that will bring me back to full control.
Agree that pirates should start forming fleets early. More threatening, easier to deal with time wise - so it's a win-win.
I agree with your discussion for the most part. The pirates being more aggressive if not dealt with is a good idea. I have already been in a situation in which I try to decide if it is worth it to clean out a pirate nest, which might cost me some casualties. It should definitely be worth it! It shouldn't be something you can just ignore for a long time without it causing you any difficulties. On the question of ship design I think your
I think the battle viewer in GC3 was a waste of CPU and time. It didn't really help me figure out how to build out my fleet, which would be my greatest interest. So I am not strongly in favor of this for GC4.
