I don't think I will ever get tired of saying thank you for this. When a company does something for clients at whatever their effort and no cost to the user, that's something.

I will just add one thought. There was no requirement for Stardock to give Steam access to people who bought gc4 and supernova on epic. But they did, and I got my game moved to Steam for free. A modest fee would not have been unreasonable at all. If I had done things at the right time maybe I could have avoided this. But I still appreciate it. The idea that somehow Stardock is ripping off their customers is TO ME is unsuporta
Perhaps someone can bring me up to speed, but I am frustrated. In my current game, I get a message "only ships with survey capability can....etc". I have gotten messages like this referring to this or that event. Sometimes I can jump right to the place on the star map where it is happening. But for anomaly surveys, I am getting a stack of 4-5 messages with no clue how to find the location. Topic for discussion or education(mine). &nb
RE publius, your comment was helpful. Thanks much.
[quote who="Publius of NV" reply="1" id="3902411"] First, I think a button or key to switch off the background for a flat color, so as make small things more visible. The current background is pretty, but it also tends to camoflage anything on the screen. (If there is such a built in capability and I missed it, well, I apologize) If you're talking about the very bright background nebulas, there is already a setting for th

Hello, I finally got my game switched to Steam and managed to play several hours. Stardock is making a lot of friends with their help for people like me who got into epic first and had fun but really wanted to get to steam. I was at the point that I was almost ready to pay for it. I had one clear wish for the game that stood out for me, namely the "search area" on the upper right of the screen. Currently one can list you current planets, current fle
here is a save file in dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vinmju98qa43q1c/icon%20ship%20test.GC4Sav?dl=0 I can design a cruiser here but it doesnt show in the shipyard build list. If I play until I get the right tech, it will appear,
well I am that someone who got gc4 on epic last year or thereabouts. So it is, at this point, a question of $16 vs $42 For ME. As to frogboy's post I guess I am thinking perhaps I will refund on Epica and see how that goes. them try to get the steam key. (added) Well last night I somehow got 10 hrs posted on Supernova. The refund policy is only for 2 hrs or less. So it seems for me the choice is epic and $16 or steam
Perhaps there is an easy workaround for this but I haven't found it. From time to time the game will report that you are trying to do something that just won't work. For example, running the wrong type of ship into a foreign colony. In all such cases it would be extremely helpful to be able to locate where the ship is that is trying to do the impossible. Otherwise, it can be a terrific problem trying to correct a mistake. I don't want to spend 30 minu
OK I built new designs, fighter, frigate, and cruiser. Used beam weapons and avenger missiles, and added on engine element. Both the fighter m0 and frigate m0 turned up as expected in the list of available designs, and I could select them to build. But the cruiser design did not. I don't know why; but I suspect I hadn't researched enough techs. I had the cruiser tech that allowed me to select the hull, but, apparently, not use
In testing supernova I of course tried building ships asap. This seems to be a bit tricksy in my hands. My first ships didn't show up in the ship building list; they did later so I suspected perhaps a turn had to go by before they showed up. Today I went further and picked up the battle cruiser tech, then tried to build a new ship medium sized. I could not get the game to take my new ship and I pondered that maybe I didn't have some prereq tech.
I absolutely believe people have trouble with epic. I was happy to see that supernova was going to be stand alone on steam. So I grabbed it - well thats the way it is with galciv, I just buy. Course while it was downloading I noticed that people who had gc4 on epic could get supernova for $16. Oops, that is a lot less than $42! So I refunded my steam purchase. And it went smoothly, which is another argument in favor of steam! &
The answer to your question would involve how large each sector is. So your suggestions should be framed by number of stars, perhaps.
I suppose that this has been mentioned before, but to be absolutely sure, I am posting. There is one building on core worlds that cannot (or I don't see how) be changed once placed. Other buildings placed in the build queue can be Xed out and relocated. In my current game I saw a +3 manufacturing zone and I planned to put my first industrial build there. I placed my capital adjacent, but after I did this I noticed that I had put the capital smack dab on the +3
It is extremely tedius to have to move any ship that is "exploring" to check whether a monster, etc. is encountered. I suggest that the player be allowed to plot a trajectory, and that whenever anything dangerous appears movement is stopped and the player is advised. Make it a toggle so that the player can decide whether to be cautious.
Yep lots of us had the same issue. My excuse is old age. And maybe my 27in monitor is too big so that things get lost sometimes. (I agree, not as convincing.) Once you have a thing set in your brain a certain way it is tough to do something different.
The background of the standard galaxy display is beautiful but to my old eyes sometimes makes finding things somewhat challenging. I wonder if it would be difficult to allow a setting that makes the background flat neutral color (light gray?). This might make it easier to see things. If there already is such an option and I just missed it, please ignore this! Thanks.
v .81: I started a new game and intentionally did not optimize my settings to minimize unhappiness. My first colony quickly became unhappy. I saved and clicked on the "the citizen of xxx are unhappy" notification (upper right of screen). And there was no problem. I will continue to test this until there is a coup displacing me as administrator (the natives are restless). This is one instance but it is hopeful. (edit - 20 min later)
Yes Should have done that already. I guess my testing hat that I wore during the gc3 beta has worn off. Much more detail I hope soon. BTW since 81B dropped I haven't seen the problem, but it does require one to have an unhappy core world, so...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yjc8zmmkp040zbv/DxDiag.txt?dl=0 Hope that helps. (Dropbox link) (edit) I have been trying to produce a result so I can send save files and pictures. I am slowed because I am not well (for me mentally people have been saying that for quite a while) and because the playthrough was far enough along that I had thoroughly brought unhappiness under con
please note that this is not the "left side of screen is moved out of view when looking at the planet screen issue that I have also had along with others.
Well, honestly mimots are my personal favorite. But I won't allow myself to play them any more. I would get very lazy.
Yes. It's a very common experience. In my latest play through I decided to wait for the next update. Just about every message in the upper right that says "Planet xxx is unhappy" if I click on the message I get a blank screen except for the very top of the display. I can regain control by clicking in the research window, which is just visible. I can provide other info if needed, like game files. Easy to obtain.
