Caboose, I agree with most of your suggestions. I really miss that empire management screen with the tabs which included trade on one tab, and most importantly the list of colonies on another. Each screen was important I just can't remember each one right now. They should bring that back, and add a column showing what resource (if any) is on which planet. They should show both core worlds and colonies. On the game setup screen, I really don't like the sliders.&

I've started 3 games since 0.65.2...came out. I have been playing the Terrans. I have not encountered any minor civilizations. Not even one. Has anyone else had this?
Ok, so this is not a bug? It's just that there is a % chance on if you get additional tiles, and how many (max of 2)? That's kind of rough for something that you have to find, its a limited supply and so you try to use it very strategically. Really wish they made it a little more consistent.
As I am playing the Terrans, I am particularly sensitive to chances to gain Innovation points. I can only think of one colonization dialog where that is an option--I think its the one with the lightning or something. It seems to hardly come up in comparison to the other dialogs. Also, in general, there seem to be just a few things that happen repeatedly, but there are so many resources and ideologies in the game. Maybe some additional colonization and anomaly/space junk/ar
Larsenex the idea to check the trade route is good, but in 0.65 they took away the screen where you can see all of your trade routes. Unless I'm looking for it in the wrong place.
I've only been playing the Terrans. This has happened twice--once on 0.6 and now on 0.65. I have a size 18 planet that is full. I used the Chimeric Biomass to get additional tiles, The planet screen now says it is now size 20, but there are only the initial 18 hexes on the planet.
Is this the Manage Empire or Manage Economy screen? Where you could see all your colonies, your finances, how many trade routes used vs available, and the status of each colon on something like a spreadsheet? Planet size, population, research, production, shipyard, etc. I was shocked that they removed this. Yes, bring this back. This was great for managing your Empire. Don't "dumb the game down." @caboose_corsair: They may have removed the ship role
I made a starbase near a Control Relic and a promethion source. I added the first archeology lab. I am receiving the promethion, but based on the counter at the top of screen I am not gaining the 1 additional control point which the starbase says that I should.
Well, my Minot diplomat had the "Make assigned race's planets more likely to defect to you" trait. So, if this is the cause of it, it may be a little too powerful. I'll try it on my new 0.65 game if it gets that far.
Please bring back more frequent colony narratives! This was the main source of Ideology points. Now we have the frustrating situation of having these great options for Ideology and Culture, but cannot get points for either. Still need a way to consistently get Culture points.
Oh Crap that sounds bad. Very Bad. Worse than a Xenomorph. As bad as The Thing!
I do have a diplomat with that trait. I'll need to check and see if that is the on I have on the Minot. I so, I'm gonna move him. I don't see any benefit to having a ton of colonies filled with "greedy guts" that eat all the food.
Hey Spider, this worked as a fix. Thank you
@SSStreetfigher: Just watched you tech tutorial. Very good. Boy do I wish I had watched it sooner. Thanks!
I just installed the new version 0.65 via the Epic Launcher. When I tried to launch the game I received an error notice that VCRUNTIME14_1dll was missing. Reinstalling might correct this. But I cannot find an uninstall command. I guess I could just go to the directory and delete everything, but sometimes this leaves stuff around that causes problems. Help please.
No more Class 77 planets? Awwww. Ok, it was kinda over-the-top anyway.
Well, I didn't get any notice either. So that could be it. One (the first) now has a loyalty of around 50 (to me I guess) and the other is green so it is at least 79. And I cannot gift them a Harmony crystal for 100 turns. I didn't get any message either. Maybe the real issue is that there is no message concerning a defection like this. It is not like the situation where you take over the planet by influence. It is just out of the blue.
I met the Minots about 2 sectors away from my home sector. But this planet is in a sector that I haven't explored. I am about turn 320. I just have a date in the upper right-hand corner, but when I cursor over it the number 320 pops up. I now have 2 Minot planets. Yes, another one showed up. Both these planets are Core Worlds, with full colonists (4 minot colonists) and all hexes developed. And Minot governors.
I have unknowingly gained a new planet from the Minots. I don't recall bargaining for one in a trade deal unless I missed it on the one deal I made with them. It is in a sector that I have not yet even visited. I don't even have a hyperlane to that sector. 1) Is this some sneaky way for them to get into my Empire and eat all my food? 2) Can I expect the same thing from the Fetoon to ley eggs in all my colonists? 3) Should I even keep this planet? Mayb
I've always liked tactical combat and/or the Battleviewer. You really just need an option as to if you wish to view the battle or not. I enjoy seeing how different ships perform, and how they function based on the specs and the ship role. The scaled down ship design capabilities and options on equipping a ship reduce the need, but doesn't eliminate it. Seeing the battle stats in progress for each ship is a great part of the viewer. Every version of GC has the g
More Impressions From My Playthrough: 1) I have a size 77 planet, with 3 developed economic starbases and fusion power plant encircled by mfg zones, but I still only have 6 mfg output. Don't know how it happened, but I don't think it should EVER happen. 2) I have stopped earning culture points! We should earn these throughout the entire game. In fact, they don't come frequently enough, but I stopped getting them entirely. 3) I can no longer recruit le
Some additional impressions from gameplay. 1) Possible bug: When I switched to Republic Gov't a tip onscreen stated I would have 2 additional policy choice but it appears I got only one. 2) I'm getting an awful lot of statues built in my honor from Governors that like me. Yes I like the 10 control points, but this is going to blow up as I get more governors that like me. Maybe a little less frequency on this. Same with the festival but to
@Streetfighter: 1) I can see that. I recall leaving an advanced game for a week due to RL, and when I came back i couldn't figure out what my old strategy was. Had to just delete the game and start over. 3) Well, maybe I'll try making cultural starbases if I find the resources. I used that to some effect in previous GC games. 4) HaHa! Leaders is a whole different issue. Trying to find one who likes you, has high social and has a special trait to impro
Talluhajeff, I generally agree with wanting tactical combat. But a problem with TC in GalCiv is the pure size and scope of the game. The game can take so long I shudder to think how long it would take to play with controlled tactical combat. My 2 favorite systems (but I haven't played all the games, naturally) are Master of Orion 1&2 and the one in Birth of the Federation. MOO because with all the variety of weapons, you could actually use and see the effec
Concerning resources, pirates, minor races, etc. There should be more of them, especially if the game has them set on "abundant". I have pirates set on abundant, but when I needed to kill some, I could only find 2 enclaves in my Large sector with only about 3 ships each. Same with minor races. Set at abundant, but only had one in my sector. In another game I had one in my sector, but none in the next 2 sectors that I explored. Same with
