You need to grow through a few starts, and hunt for the techs in the library, before you get a feel for tech research. I now have a pretty good feel for how to get my initial tech choices quickly but it took me a few restarts and some effort looking at the library. Looking for a tech is not just based on the "color" either. Sometimes techs that are brown can only be researched by selecting the "green planet" tech category. But only after you complete the prerequiste, which

Since 0.75 was released, I've started new games with both the Terran Alliance and the Terran Resistance. Both games crashed within 50 turns and now crash within a couple of turns if I restart them.

Can we get it possibly un-nerfed it on both ends!? At least a little bit? I assume that I am not the only person who thought it was a cool and different game mechanic. It could always still happen, but cut the penalties and benefits down some. But now its just like flavorless kool-aid. It seems like a lot of things that made GalCiv unique and engaging are being removed. It seems in danger of just being this top-level click game.

I knew about Bob, but didn't know he needed fixing. Since .71 came out I have not had any Leader events from my governors. No statues, money or critiicism. Was this removed, or just adjusted down too far? Is it being fixed in .75? I've had governors with 100 loyalty or more, and some with 32 loyalty. Not a peep.

I just read the above discussion. The Boost Engine component seems like it will meet an issue I had. I wanted to be able to make very fast freighters, colonizers, or any type of ship. But I'm not sure about "add as many as you want." I will assume that you mean add as many as you want "as long as there are component slots on the ship." That would be great. If you have 5 slots total, you can add 3 of these Engine Boosts to take up 3 of the slots. Though I wa

I just started a new game on 0.70.275114. Did "Call election" get removed? I saw that it would be removed in 0.71. A couple of quick issues. 1) I think we are getting a little too much food. Currently as the Terrans i never need to bother building Agricultural plots. I'm throwing away more food than McDonald's. 2) What is the size that makes a planet "habitable" and what size is "Extreme". I think on some settings we are getting too man

Will we be able to assign a colony to a specific core world? If two potential core worlds are near each other, it would be great to be able to assign colonies to each one rather than be forced to effectively keep one as a colony.

Just wanted to mention a couple more things on my wish list. Firstly, there seems to be a lack of "fun immersion" in the game like there was in GC and GC2 (it was missing in GC3). Something about the game interface and your interactions with the other civs. One thing that would help would be CNN GNN! I really miss the occasional news flash concerning galactic events. Who has declared war! Who is winning that

A couple of things. 1) I have also noticed the AI colony ships stopping at a planet and not colonizing it. Guess my Intel wasn't up to snuff to see if it had a colonist. 2) Seems that now damn near all of the Leaders I see are horrible. Low stats AND low loyalty. yeah, I know you don't want them all to have really good stats like back in 0.65 but I think you overcompensated here. 3) Again on Leaders, I am not getting any Leader events. No statue

Bug: Sometimes the core planet screen does not fully appear as in below. Notice the left-had side of the screen when the Governor's face should be. To reproduce the above screen, you need an unhappy core world. The Advisors on the upper right-hand corner of the screen will state that "Citizens of 'Core World' are unhappy." Do not go over to th

So I started a new 0.70 Terrans game. Gifted level. Just a few things I noticed so far. 1) A lot more star systems. I've been playing with most settings on Abundant so I can more easily encounter things/issues. Well I have too many star systems and too many large and giant worlds. This is a good thing, since when you have a setting on "abundant" that is what you should get. Great. Next game I guess I'll set that to a lower level. 2) Pirates see

So playing the Terrans, I researched Technological Singularity. The game then froze while seemingly processing the "turn" for the Mantis civilization. So I shut down and went to bed. Got up and decided to finish the game. Again researched Technological Singularity, and picked something new to research. The game immediately locked up again and in the lower right hand corner showed "Mantis." Can't remember what I selected to research after Tech Sing, but it was

SSStreetfigher, I assume you are replying to the "population growing too fast" issue. Seems the problem isn't that the pop is growing too fast. Rather it is that we run out of planets. I can't find planets to colonize now, and my planets are full of population. But Earth isn't. I have about 12 pop, with a max of 23 and it takes 33 turns to gain one pop on Earth. Similar issues on my other early core worlds. On my current game, by the time I explored my first ne

I have not had a problem with population growing too fast. Always to slowly, so I'm going to disagree with you on this. I've been playing the Terrans exclusively. don't know what you're doing to get such fast growth unless it is another race. Maybe the race you are playing needs to be tweaked.

I'm playing the base Terrans who have Innovation as their Ideology. I don't see things that help with it. Most ideology points come from colonization dialogs and anomaly dialogs. Sometimes an event occurs (like when they ask what is the key to the future or something and you get ideology points depending on your answer). I'm careful with those, if they have an Innovation choice i pick it. I have not seen a Leader who gives Innovation points if you recruit them.

Ok, I followed instructions from Publis of NV above and they spoke to me. Gave me a mission. Thanks. But this is similar to something mentioned before. We shouldn't have to look through buried menus or guess at things in the interface. Once someone clicks on the planet, the planet screen should just have a "Speak To" box that you can click. I think previous versions of GC had that for minor and major races.

The current shipyard and tech really removes options for customizing your shipbuilding. 1). Is there a tech that lets us minimize the technology? So that we can get more items on a specific size of ship, e.g., get 4 items on a small ship (instead of just 3). So that you can add an interstellar drive to that little tiny or medium ship once you get some miniaturization tech. 2) Restricting each ship size to a set number of components instead of space, with each component t

Yea, I like the 500 bucks and the control points from Governors with at least about 78 Loyalty. So, is there a good way to gain Innovation ideology points? There is a real lack of options to gain Innovation Ideology points as far as i can tell. Thanks for the tip on the Liberty Ideology points. I'll definitely use it.

I just started a new game last night. I have a minor race in my starting sector. But even after gaining Universal Translator tech, I cannot talk to them. They don't initiate conversation, and I get nothing when I click on their planet.

So, for the first time another Civ declared war on me. The Arceans (even though I didn't think our relations were that bad. In fact I know they weren't). I was surprised because while the relations were negative, they weren't really, really bad. I am even more surprised now since they have not sent a single ship against me. Even though I have surveyors flying all through their area grabbing anomalies. I haven't seen a single ship from them. They are listed as t
