I've played the betas, mostly at crippling. This definitely effects the game and in a good way. I still colony rush, putting 500 on most of my colony ships. On Huge with 7 AIs, common habitable and stars, abundant planets I end up with 15-20 planets (out of a total of 110-120) after the initial rush. I buy a scout or two so I'm not wasting colony ship turns in no mans land. Keep your morale in the green. You have to watch it when you have those 4000-5000 troop transposrts. You may actually hav

You're gonna get as many different things here as there are posts, but my $.02 for what its worth. Note that with version1.1 population is going to be a huge factor and therefore morale also is a key. I play almost all my games on huge, the last 4 games at crippling difficulty and working up the difficulty ladder (Played masochistic in Gal CIv I eventually). I'm also a warmonger. I use 7 AI. The more AI the less room each has at their early disposal. I like to start with Ion drive b
Bought this game never expecting multi-player, not advertised with MP, etc. Would notpayfor MP. Will be unhappy if single player suffers for MP. MP would take away people from the game development that kept GC1 on my play list for ages and I expect the same for GC2. GalCIv is a game that stays on my play list long after other games get installed, defeated and deleted while still visiting my old stand buy for a change of pace. If y
Torians...that expansion and I play evil alignment. If they are in the game they are usually the first to declare war on me ( not a good idea on their part ). Then it's the Yor because, well, any self-respecting member of my empire hates Yor (otherwise I'd play them).
Resource starbases are fine. If you feel that you don't need them then let the AI have em. That and increase your difficulty level to something competitive and your cake walk days will be over.
Be careful when dropping an influence starbase in AI contolled territory. More than one war has started over some indiscriminate building of influence starbases but if you can handle the war then go for it.
Factories are always doing something in my games (military or social production or both). The only time I even think about disbanding a factory is on a PQ 7 or less that I have specialized into a research planet. I have no starports on these low PQs so any military pproduction is gone but the focus on research they give keeps me ahead of the "I don't have anything to do" curve. Always a bigger building or better ship to construct. STarbases
I set up companion rally points, ie "Att 1" and "Troop 1", like eferraro said.. Select "Fleet" so its automatic when they get there. Nice addition in v 1.1 beta is you can move your rally point, no need to disband, make a new point, disband, etc. etc. I launch my ships and then select the rally point instead of using a colony rally point but that is just a precaution by me as I change off production alot to manage my population and I end up with mixed
I played Gal CIv I and Stardock was great with that and haven't slowed down one bit. Gotta appreciate the way they do business and support their game and fans. One reason I couldn't wait to buy Gal Civ II. Thanks to Stardock for your continued work.
I start my 10+ planets with a starport, couple of factories, farm, entertain, research and bank. Pretty universal. After that I will focus my capital planets as appropriate. I try to have all my planets except 4,5 and 6 pay for themselves so I like banks to the point planet income outweighs it's maitnainance. Note that eventually banks (stock markets) give a morale boost to keep those high pops happy. I've tried to specialize planets but other than my
Zild and all you fellow CIv players ( I played Civ 3 and Civ 4 alot, HoF etc.) the economics and production are NOT Civ. When you build a factory you don't have to have a "pop point" to work it like you do in CIv. A factory running at 100% will produce 8 production points, to be split up between social, military and research. How this is split up depends on what your global sliders are and whether you have focused that planets production in one of the
I think the Best stepped into more than he can handle. I'm not a super player but I can crank out 60K one after the other. Not multiple games a day but I like to do the military things. When I came back to GalCiv I was playing lower difficulties and wondering "how do they do it?" so I went to the strategy sections here and in the Embassy, joined an Empire to glean what I could from other members, and made an effort to learn more about the game. Guess what happened. I can play at any leve
Guess I'm different than alot of people. Along with TBS my favorite genre is RPG. Try and find a decent RPG that isn't online (Everquest, Final Fantasy,...) I refuse to buy a game then pay for the privelge to play it. And then to try and find a group, the time, etc. I also like to explore everything, not try and finish the game the fastest way possible. I just prefer single player even with games that have both. Oh well, just my 2 cents worth of whining about RPG's and multi-player. [Messag
I had it once, and the AI got about 140 corvettes
Kind of a pain to clean up but it does raise the level of your attack ships which can help when you go up against the big boys, like the Altarian's Paladins.
And what do you do with bugs? You exterminate them, thats what. (or something like that).
I plan on getting GC2 after it is released and with my gaming history will most likely send GC / AP to the old games home in the basement. GC is one of the few games that I have come back to after beating it (HOMM3 and Civ3 were others)but with a new version that looks as good as GC2 , GC would face the final uninstall.
