I have to admit I have had my first CTD two nights ago.....but only after I built that ridiculously huge Grand Dragon ship (check ship design post for pic).....I guess it was a little too much for my system when I decided to take on multiple fleets and watch the battles. The ship was just TOO complex I think. I still use it but only watch the battles if they are limited.

I belive you do....but to tell you the truth I'm not sure. Although I don't think that the location of the starbase (sector location that is) is a factor in calculating the starbase's effects. The starbase effects are felt on any world that falls in the starbase's "sphere" of influence which you can view by clicking on the base. I have on occasion built multiple influence bases with overlapping spheres of influence in order to culture flip a particular planet but I haven't built mul

Sounds ok. I would never put my social spending up to 40% though, I like to keep it around 20%-25% at the most. Rationale for this is until you get a factory on a planet it builds everything SLOW....after the factory the planet builds things at a good pace even with little funding (especially as your knowledge of manufacturing increases). Either way planet development takes awhile. When I colonize a world I immediately issues orders for a starport (if I intend to build ships there), farm, en

I know what the economic event is.....I specifically said "no interstellar event" (meaning no special/random/anything)...I already had that event in my current game the "Economic Boom" or whatever. This economic anomaly occurred without any announcement. So naturally I assumed it was not a special event. I should have been more precise in my original post. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/SadAngry.gif" border=0 ALIGN="

So I'm moving along in my current game comfortably ahead in every category, not drastic (except for technology); when all of a sudden my economy goes from barely in the green hover around 200-300 bc surplus/month to 3700 bc surplus/month! No great technological leap, no interstellar event, no brilliant trade manuever, nothing. Now....I'm not complaining about this...it allowed me to drop taxes to the point of nearly 100% approval and it allowed me to build up a 65000 bc treasury re

I read in one interview with B.W that he really wanted to include asteriod fields except the coding got too complicated (A.I didn't react well or something, testing would have taken a long time) so they dropped the idea. I for one hope that they eventually come up with a way to add some interstellar obstacles and terrain...afterall there is a plethora of things out there in space that could be used to either hinder movement through sectors, cause damage to ships, hide ships, or endang

Thanks for recognizing some of my designs Frogboy! I'm flattered to have some displayed with these other great designs. "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!" - President Merkin Muffley

My latest design is so large that the small design interace could barely fit it, as i zoom out to get a better perspective the ship starts to disappear...LOL. Still got the design done but a bigger interface would be nice. If there is a way to do it now (and I'm just stupid) someone please tell me.
