seems like missiles are still going to be best if they have the same manufacturing cost and dmg as kinetic, but missiles still have the long-range ability. and beams are going to be very hard for people to build a lot of upgraded ones since elerium is the hardest resource to mine, and most people can build smaller ships with the other weapon types in a turn anyway, so beams are just gunna usually be a bad choice for smaller ships i think un

Great writeup. The Yor already have no expectations and higher than normal approval (base 60 instead of 50). Im going to bump their base approval further so they are more content. I also like the Yor as the tall (big planet) civ. I might block them from having overcrowding penalties and the pop max peanlty.

Let's talk about civilization differentiation for a moment. The best way to balance a game is to make every civilization as similar as possible. Trying to balance for one civilization in a game like this is incredibly difficult, trying to do it for 18.... is crazy. Sometimes you get a crazy idea for a civilization, "what would it be like if you could....". From a balance and AI perspective these ideas are trouble. But they are so much fun. And I want players to have a differen

I also think the anomaly rewards will always be tweaked as well. 300 credits from an anomaly is a lot. It's also worth noting that in my last MP game I won not because of my command ships (I was playing drengin and tried to lean into them as much as possible), but because of my manufacturing base. It was an all out brawl, arena mode war from turn 1. but he tore apart my Commanders with normal fleets, but I overwhelmed because the sweet sweet volcanic furnaces of Drengi produced wave a

Thank you for this feedback. There is certainly lot's of balance adjustment that will take place. It is the sort of game where changing a 3 to a 5 can make or break the game (and in a game with tends of thousands of values set, that's a lot of balance). We are constantly in the process of balancing. It happens in every update, it will happen in release, it will happen in every update after release. And we are always trying to find a happy medium between what is fun and
Colonies or Not? Here are four examples where "colonies" is used. Does it really mean "colonies", or does it mean "core worlds" or "all planets"? Also, two of them refer to "growth". If it really means "colonies", then "growth" is meaningless. Reduced 35% <d
i also think that the firing rate of weapons should be equalized for now (considering all the base and % boosts, this is easier and makes sense for now). this way you can think of the dmg as total dmg each weapon can do in the few secs it takes to fire and reload a missile. i think this would simply things nicely without taking anything away from combat.
You are right. Im going to normalize rate of fire and accuracy.
Derek, Just letting you know that I read this and am placing top priority to answering your follow-ups (above further gameplay). Alas since we are out of the weekend, I'm not sure when this will happen. I'm glad I was able to help with the blocked tiles thing, even if it was completely accidental. > What are the advisor messages that might be more helpful for new/medium level players? Hard to say, but I would

Thank you for this feedback. I love the scrrenshots in particular.
When a ship is destroyed, it shows in the "battle log" as having 1HP.The battle viewer is a joke. Here is a short video showing the first three problems. The "damage taken" doesn't match the battle log. (4 vs. 3 in this case)

Thank you for this., and I especially love the screenshots. Your strategy is generally similar to mine in gameplay. I do some deviation with printing money, which I generally don't do. Instead if I'm playing a faction with a survey commander ship I usually get that out as quickly as possible to get that sweet sweet anomaly money. The big change you did here that put the game on "easy mode" was combining Xenophobic (massive research bonus, massive influence penalty) with pushin
