/me takes some time to reflect on the evils of the 'd' word...
grayhaze
Or not...?!
Hey! I can use again...
See! DROP Drop d r o p
Also, apparently I can no longer use the word ''.
No, this is a personal attack. /me releases a pregnant elephant on Tech Cat Yeah... so anyway... those GUI Olympics. Great idea huh? I'm all for it. [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
Will whoever is in charge of the emoticons please get my winky working again. It's causing havoc with my British sarcasm over here...
I wasn't attacking you Tech Cat, I was simply having a harmless joke at your expense. As for the blog comment, that's best left for another venue. Besides which, it wasn't a personal attack, it was just pointing out a major inconsistency in your argument and using the true meaning of the word. Anyways...
Wow... tough crowd tonight. Did I tell you about my mother in law? /me taps the microphone a couple of times
LCD induced halucinations Remember kids, calculators and digital watches can harm your health.
Speaking of which, are similar arrangements to be made this time around for those wishing to participate, but who are lacking in the necessary software, Brad?
Okay, okay... I apologise for raising my hand. I don't really want The Skins Factory to leave. I just want a gagging order placed on them. /me whistles innocently to himself and goes back to working on his GAN-... er... GUI Olympics entry.
Oh shush BakerStreet. Everyone's too busy listening to me. I won the GUI Olympics dontcha know. /me waves his faux gold medal around
Grrr... bold... and , but using pointy brackets (less than and greater than arrows).
@ neophil78 We're trying to have an argument here dammit. To write in bold , put your text between a tag and a tag (without the spaces). To write an 'emote' (the red text), start a line with / m e (again, without the spaces).
It just wouldn't be the GUI Olympics without a good old punch up as the opening ceremony.
/me raises his hand
Yes, okay Jesh. I'll do that right away. Thanks for your advice. /me wanders off to polish his 'faux gold medal'
Ah... the old 'I do a lot of work for charity' line. You really do need to work on your communication skills Jesh. It now sounds like you're hinting that the existance of the contest is a bad thing and that the money would be better spent going to charity.
I would like to point out at this juncture that, as a past participant in the GUI Olympics, I believe both Brad and Stardock as a whole treat the contributing artists with an unfashionably high amount of respect. They took a lot of flak during the last contest, and yet at the end of the day they gave out prizes in instances where they weren't even obliged to do so. Now that is what I call caring about the individuals involved.
I still have the copyright to any skin I enter, correct? Of course you do Çërêb®øJÐ. You're not being paid for the work, and even if you were you would have to sign over the legal rights to Stardock. As an artist, you retain copyright to your work until such time as you sign a contract to say otherwise. The only condition they may set is
Incidentally, you could really learn a lot from the likes of treetog, Alexandrie, Hippy and so on. A little humility goes a long way, and although I consider those individuals among the absolute best of the best when it comes to WindowBlinds skinning, not once will you ever see them claiming as much. You are probably among the best Windows Media Player skinners in the world. Let that be what you're known for, not your ability to self-promote.
I'm pleased to see that I'm certainly not the only one offended by Jesh's attitude. For a moment there I thought I just had irrational feelings every time I read another dose of his arrogance.
But let's face it the best skinners are too busy making money to worry about a contest. That was just one of the many, many times you said it Jesh. You claim that the best skinners are making money. You are making money, so we can therefore take it that you are among the best. I am not making money, so we can therefore take it that I am not among
Well done Tim! See you in the GUIOs...
