Great job! Merry Christmas Stardock!

Has Retrofitting your fleets and early ships been removed on purpose? Is this just a test on other ideas? I sincerely would like to know as I am halting my game as I think it was overlooked while doing UI changes. If its intended that is fine, I just want to know if its going to return or tabled for now. Merry Christmas!
Will ship retrofitting be returning or is this intended to replace retrofitting?
It looks like retrofitting was removed in the current build. I've been posting for its return since it was removed.
Ok Just one more addendum, I have been playing on common resources and rare habitable planets. I am getting a LARGE amount of good planets which I am not complaining about but just noting it. I am SUPER happy with the distribution of resources and rares on planets in general. It feels VERY good! Mining techs to harvest these resources is 1/3rd up the way in the tech tree so by the time my colony ships 'get there' I can add a colony upgrade to get that resource. V
Yea, we're doing a balance pass on this. Might have gone too much the other way.
This is good news. I did not see this thread and posted another regarding availability of both Culture and Ideology points through the game.
ckHenson, there is a colonization event where you find Festron and if you do not pick the choice which spaces them you will have them in your empire. Because of their ability I do not play with them in my games. Note : Trade routes WILL bring them in your empire. You are Empire A trading with the Infected Empire C who is NOT Festron but does trade with them. Thus even though you did not meet them you brought them home to hive. Really you should just nuke them from orbit...its the only
Greetings Stardockians, I have a bit more feedback. I want to stress this issue > there is a very big lack of Culture points. I can play 500 turns on the largest map and have at most 5 or 6 culture points. We need a LOT more sources. These are fun to acquire and very helpful for our empire. With the removal of Ideology points from Policy Choices, it is now almost impossible to get last or 2nd to last tier in any ideology. In fact mid to late game the ONLY way I have
The players should have the knowledge of what missions provide culture points and if a ship is lost and where. Culture points are a HUGE deal and its not clear on where to get them or how to get them. If you had a 'library' of quests missions in game that the player could look at which tells the players which missions grant culture points believe me this would be a game into itself. On the left hand side divide the notifications into what they are now and 'Culture rewards' On
I am updating this thread with a visual pic to show what I am looking for.
Go to policies and there is a button on bottom left hand for trade and one for automation. Both are very helpful. But no ship retrofitting which I think was a mistake but hope it returns.
Greetings Stardockians, I am having fun with .65, very stable and the fix to the black ring makes this build very cool. Images are sharper and load times (for me) are very fast. One thing I do in all my games is take the original survey ship and retrofit it as soon as I can get medium hulls to a 'faster and better defended ship' I seem to have missed where to do this. I found the 'commands' section under 'Automation' in the policies section. Good choice and who
Greetings Stardockians! I am now late game and recycling the capstone techs. My game is essentially won but I am just seeing how hard/easy it is to win by culture or Ascension points on the largest map (its not easy at all). I want to say the quests/missions even in late game are a blast to do. The dialogues are a hoot and a mark of Stardock. I love them. >>Please (continue) to keep the writers as drunk/stoned as possible but still able to be functi
This is great news. I posted my complaint/issue about the tech screen blocking what I can see on the galaxy map which prevents the player from seeing combats happening before finding this thread. If the AAR will allow the player to find/zoom to the combat that would fix my gripe. GCIV is outstanding and the new features Derek is bringing to the table with each update just keeps making it better! Thanks for this update regarding the AAR. &
Greetings Stardockians, I have posted this before but want to show visually how frustrating this issue is for me. I have multiple combats happening in the galaxy, when my turn rolls around I can see one happening but... Its time to choose a tech and I cannot do ANYTHING unless I click on the choose tech button, go to tech screen pick a tech and poof the combat is gone. Not only that I get NO report of where this happened. We have no way to click on an AFTER ACTION REPO
Great list Derek, thank you! Did the change to collect resources such as Techapods, or other rares on Colonies get into this build? Meaning if a colony has the resource we would get the resource instead of having to change it to a core world? Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of Stardock!
This is Great news!
I knew I was in the minority, but this thread made me realise I'm almost completely alone in this. For me the combination of ship designer + ship builder is the *main* reason I like GalCiv over any other space 4X. Having a battle viewer with pre-built ships does very little for me, but then spending as much time as I do designing your ships and then not being able to see them go at it feels a bit pointless. That being said, I think I'm ok wi
One of the interactions which the ai will ask or request of the player is to go to war with another faction which you have met. This will will happen nearly 100% of the time. This request is very odd. I checked both ai and both 'like and trust' each other yet one is asking the player to go to war. I normally always refuse this request but occasionally I accept. What is very annoying is after said acceptance of going to war on their request, is I get a malus/penalty with the requ
I am getting a crash after I research warp theory. Game cycles through the players and I am starting a new week. This is turn 88. At that point the game crashes. Here via link is my folder with the two most recent saves and the XML changes I do to change the starting home world. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vo59p7413g912no/AAAJ1nnHVwBEevBq-VeVYxaaa?dl=0
Great update! I am really eager to see how the changes affect gameplay! I like there are 'more races' with traits I hate > Xeloxi (crime), Festron (devour your citizens), Oh I gotta figure this out..................
This is fine but.. and I have stated this on Discord: The player will have multiple survey reports AND will finish techs. The player cannot close any windows or zoom to any part of the map until the player picks a technology. Also the pop ups for surveys also prevent the player from viewing battles on the map. Please disable the mandatory 'pick a tech immediately at start of turn' and allow the player to do his surveys after he views a battle or MOVE the survey
During mid to late game a player is likely to have more than one survey ship on automated survey. This means that a player may have ( I do almost every turn) a survey result. The issue is the survey results AND FINISHING a tech both pop up and both prevent you from taking actions on the main screen. The pop for picking a new tech prevents the player from doing anything else. This is so very annoying. I cant move or observe any battle outcomes because of this. Please al
So far GalCiv IV sucks big time. There seems to be no way to control population. It just keeps growing and food goes negative until popularity hits zero. Population growth doesn't ever level off and I can't build colony ships fast enough to even put a dent in it. I think there is no such thing as game balance. I can't get a working civ off the ground because it's impossible to manager approval - there is no way to research improvements th
I have a hung game that is repeatable. It's a new game started with alpha 0.55.194342a. I have a save just before the hang that is available here . After loading the game, go to the next turn, then respond to the report about the contrace traders. The game will hang during the Manti Cluster turn.
