Tech Progress Bar Failure This is a carryover from GC3. It didn't work in that version either. Turn 65: Turn 66: The problem seems to get worse if you get a science bonus
Hi MRW1969, There is a lot wrong with this game the way it is but is still only halfway through Alpha. These poor folks haven't had much of a chance to fine-tune things yet. I say, give them that chance before making comparisons to games that have had time to mature, Richard
Hi All, I don't understand this pop-up: What is the difference between the two indicated amounts? Also, are there upcoming Techs that will help control pollution or how is that managed? Thank you, Richard
Hi Richard, We understand that seeing typos can be frustrating. However, this is not something to do with the engine. One of our developers who does good work is dyslexic and this comes up when entering UI text. We include typos as a regular point of reporting on discord in particular to help catch when there is an error and fix it as soon as we can.
Thanks for the quick reply. It seems to me th
Expected that. Thanks!
Hi SD, Re-using code is a common-sense approach to any project. Re-using buggy code from GC3 is shameful. I could provide several examples of this but, based on previous failed attempts to convince you, it doesn't seem worth the effort. I have endured the misspelled words and terrible grammar in GC3 but it is terrible to bring this to a shiny new game that has such potential. Simple things like the Research progress bar being inaccurate to the week numbers in the auto-
Hi ckhenson, If you get some Nanobots, they will show up in your Resources across the top of the screen. If you hover over them, the tooltip tells you they are needed for Tech updates. That probably happens later in the game than I have played so far. Richard
Does anyone have suggestions for the best Leader traits to put on Colony Ships? Thank you, Richard
Turn 36, I got to this screen and the game locked up. I couldn't get a save of this for you. Thank you, Richard
Is there no music yet for the video cut-scenes? Is that an Alpha thing? Just curious and thanks, Richard
There are settings options in the Epic Game Launcher for additional parameters. My question is, what are the available command line parameters for this game? Thank you, Richard
hi I found by accident that when you first meet a new race...you trade...when you click on all their colonies and other goodies...you hit accept and you get all they have...most of the time i gave them nothing...i had this set on godlike.. zero23420
</
I realized the tech trees in my first reply are incomplete, so I made new ones. You can read about them and get the updated tech trees here .
Thank you! I will update mine for v.50.
Thanks, Old-Spider! That will be a big help, Richard
Howdy All, Many planets on the current map require Extreme Colonization. Without the Tech Tree, I have no idea how to get there. Any guidance will be appreciated, Richard
One other thing to think about -- the 25% tax rate jumps are too broad. I prefer a more granular approach like the slider in GC3. It really helps to keep the Approval in check. Food for thought, Richard
On the Trade screen, I saw this: Just FYI, Richard
Started a game playing the Navigators. Got free 150 research points from the Ideology tree, and proceeded to rack up tons of Tech. I'm sure it was way more than 150 points worth. I could be wrong but it seemed like a lot!
Howdy Dev Team, Last I looked, Bazzar is spelled Bazaar. "Tax Rat" might be appropriate but I'm pretty sure that is not what you meant. Thanks for the great job so far! I'm having a ball... Richard
Howdy Dev Team, I am really enjoying this GC4 alpha despite its expected early-stage weaknesses. One thing that GC2 hands-down beat GC3 at was lists management. Honestly, GC3 is terrible at that. * I hope this is only in the alpha, but on the Trade screen, if you expand one list, then the other closes. I would like to see all of them, or one, or two, or however many I choose. * The Ship list doesn't sort properly. The garrisoned ships are interspersed with the
I wonder if it did not take and yu have no page file.
I have a Rainmeter widget on the desktop showing Pagefile size and usage. Prior to this, I had it set to 800MB. I changed it to Windows managed and it now reads 32GB! That's nuts! I'll be dropping that back to a more reasonable size.
I think GCIV likes you to have a page file.
I first had it set to the minimum (800MB). When I upped it to 5GB, everything worked fine. I shouldn't need that much considering there is 32GB RAM installed on this computer. Go figure...
@caboose_corsair Thanks, I see it now, too.
[UPDATE] Increased Windows Page File to 5GB. No crash so far... I received an Out of Memory error at turn 3. There is 32GB of RAM installed and there were 15GB free when the game crashed. Any settings I should be looking at? Thanks, Richard
