@ POGUE > I'm chimin' in now, dude. Gimme that password -- pronto ! @ Joe's Momma > TEN players in a game ?! I don't think it's even possible. What is certain is that I will not participate in any Human vs. Human game -- FFA or team-based.

I, also, have an AGP GeForce (a 6800). I use the official (non-beta) December 2007 nVidia drivers for XP : version 169.21. What's your videocard drivers's version ? Have you updated your soundcard's drivers -- considering what you describe ?
Thanks : I knew how to chat (press Enter), but not how to whisper.
my game crashes as well... as does my company of heroes: OF so i got 2 words for everyone: BLAME MICROSOFT :D
That's easy to say. If both your COH game and your Sins game crash on a regular basis, you might blame your computer instead : what's so wrong with it that those two games both crash ? :( I have Microsoft's Windows XP, and none of my games crash*. Isn't that strange ?! * The last time Sin
If you do not produce the technical details of your computer's specs (including which version of your videocard's drivers you are using), I doubt anybody, here, can help you with so little info. Sorry. (:( If you e-mailed your DX-Diagnostic info to Ironclad, that's what I am refering to. To be sure, you could also try e-mailing the minidump and DX-Diag files to :
This game uses Peer 2 Peer technology. So the same rules apply : You're behind a router and/or wireless router, and you've forgotten to create a static external IP for port forwarding.
External ?! My router requires the internal IP address in its port-forwarding screen : the one you get when you execute start\run\cmd > ipconfig. Can anybody clarify this technical point : I'm confused -- and am not an expert.
Thanks for giving us precise, detailed info on your computer's specs... Try this : In the game's options, disable "Bloom Effects".
W A R N I N G : The forum will be down for maintenance, Sunday, from 8 am (EST) until Monday morning. Consequently, Pogue, we will have to meet on ICO, Sunday evening, without having checked first on this thread. I will look for your game, on ICO, Sunday evening, after 7:55 (EST). I suggest that you then use, as password, the one we employed yesterday (which started by a m). LT knows it. If Bhruic is available, we should give it to him bef
I, also, am using the official (5 December 2007) 169.21 nVidia drivers : never experienced any problem, any BSOD -- but from the very start, I never enabled "Bloom Effects". Thanks for posting your info : it might help some GeForce users who have had some problems caused by that "Bloom Effects" option.
P.S. EDIT > Deleted myself, since nobody wants to play anymore.
On certain threads, it has been recommended that Vista-64 users disable SLI. There is an issue with the GeForce's nVidia drivers : nVidia has been informed, and it is trying to fix it. On another thread, a Microsoft patch for Vista-64 has been refered to. You should explore the threads and posts, on this forum, which discuss the Vista-64 problems. (I still have XP, and I am far from being an expert on Vista and Vista-64 : I'm just reporting what I've seen on
1. Nope, I had no fire to put out. I was simply being my usual self : the quiet, content turtle. 2. I do not seek to expand too fast and too much. I seized, early on, the 2 planets next to my Homeworld (one at the "top", one at the "bottom"), and then, I stopped to "turtle". Anyway, the other adjacent systems were not available : most could not be colonized, and LT was my nearby neighbour (at the "bottom"). 3. My 3 systems brought in enough credit/metal/crystal revenues (becau
Ummm. I think that the OP is a joke : the guy first talks about having a GF 2, then switches to his use of a GF 3, and he inserts 3 smileys in his post. I took the care to reply because I'm waiting for my frozen lunch to finish cooking. By the time my lunch will be ready, the OP will have posted about his tests with his GeForce 4 MX 440.
E-mail the BSOD's specific info* + the minidump file to ! *At the top. It might be a line stating something like this (just as an example) : [...] IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL You might find it useful to consult this Acrobat (.pdf) web document : [link="http://www.sun.com/desktop/products/sunpci/bsod.pdf#search=%22multiple%20IRP%20request%22"] List of BSODs [/link]
Saturday Noon. 1a. Thanks for the lengthy reply, LT. Yep, that's what must have happened : your router rejected me -- because I tried 3 times. I, also, am behind a router. I have had no problem joining Pogue's games, but I feel somewhat certain that I could not host. I don't know much about router configuration, and the threads dedicated to that, on the forum, appear very easy stuff for the IT experts writing advice, but us "lazy" (a recurring word they used on one thread) gamers
I have just finished reading all the posts of this thread : highly educative ! You even have a post on the physics of fireline bubbles, and one that quotes an Ancient Chinese master-strategist. We have this saying, here, in francophone Quebec : « Je me sens maintenant moins niaiseux. » Sincerely, it's a very educative thread for the too defensive n00b that I am.
For weaker cards, it is useful to experiment : 1. Turn off all forms of AA (I do that, and I still find the game very beautiful : I do not notice the jagged edges.) 2. Turn off "bloom". 3. Outside of the game, in your ATI Catalyst graphical-management utility, find the "V Synch" option and turn VS off (I have a GeForce, and we do it there, in its equivalent utility program.) 4. I turn off a few minor features such as the planet "elevators", the "dust", the ast
Only some Stardock employees have the expert knowledge of SDC to answer that one : a) either one will jump in this thread sometime today ; b) or/and, send a detailed e-mail to >>> ! Good luck. It's a great game.
That's why it might only be implemented for a boxed (not-free) expansion : resolving the "serious balance and AI issues" you are refering to would cost a lot of person-hours of paid work -- and a lot of unpaid fun for the pre-order beta-tester like some of us :d .
1. I saw your game reload's name, El Tea, but when I tried THREE times to join, after a waiting period, I always got the message that I had been "disconnected from the game server". Then, your game's name disappeared from the list, and you did not reply to my queries from the lobby. My hypothesis was that something on your end made it impossible that you host, because I have had no waiting and no problem rejoining Pogue's games -- on two reloading occasions. Anyway, as I had stated during the la
07:52 PM. Leaving the forum and going to ICO to join Pogue's game. See ya soon.
I don't know why I'm having this weird name in my head, now : it's the nickname of a F-14 pilot in the Tom Cruise movie Top Gun. ;)
My girlfriend will watch DVD reruns of Xena : Warrior Princess all evening. I gave her that yesterday, for St Valentine's : to keep her busy, and off my back. ;p PS > Warning. I suck even more.
POGUE : It is 07:41 PM (EST) now. I'm here. I'm in. I'm waiting.
