@ m8chor I have an old (2001) LinkSys router (Firmware 1.39 : Jun 04 2001). 1. I am wary of updating its firmware because I've had NO problems whatsoever with the router for the past 6½ years. (LinkSys's website recommends to NOT update the firmware if one does not have any problem.) 2. My router's webpage does NOT offer any option to activate UPnP : it is not mentioned anywhere. @ Endorian 3. Why do you take position against acti

It doesn't work !! The 2 files should be sufficient. Like I said in the previous post, all that extra stuff should not be required. Sorry. Proceed without me. EDIT - P.S. > 11:00 PM. One hypothesis why it failed is that when the host saves the game, it sends the instruction for the other PCs to also save, but the saved-game files, even though they have the same name (newbie3), contain in part specific data which correspond to the specific place of a PC
OK....i cant believe its the autorecord multiplayer file that is also required (certainly noty all those autosaves!!!)
Me too. I got the 2 files, put them at the proper place, but I still get the message that I don't have the files (even though I exited and restarted). I don't understand. Well : finish the game without me. I'll know better next time.
I deleted the 2 newbie3 files : email them to me now. Ill PM you my e mail address. I was not aware that I had to keep those files to join a reload !
I'm off to ICO too. The time is 7:32½.
You JOIN Pogue's game as usual : he, the host, is responsible for reloading.
7:30 is OK with me. 1. It would allow us to edit mistakes or sloppy language we would want to remove or correct. 2. Deleting a post would allow someone to totally change his mind (or erase a double post). Anyway, quotes, here, are executed without personal attribution : consequently, if someone quotes a post that has been edited or erased, after the quote, nobody is personally targeted -- and everybody would understand (if they cared to look) that the quote's source
Yes. I can start at any moment from now. My girlfriend has university classes : she won't be back until 10 PM. Also, I don't have to go to work on Wednesdays. :D It doesn't say "no photo" anymore under your son's picture : have you resized it ?
You cannot delete posts on this forum, and you cannot edit them when someone has posted a message after yours. I disagree with that forum policy.
Probably because you have not updated the game to its most recent (1.02) version ! Patch it !
I personally couldn't care less about a campaign mode, but the multiplayer aspect is a HUGE turnoff. I have never had such a headache with another MP system, and I've played on gamespy. I hope there is a patch of some kind in the works that can fix the multiplayer issues.
Thanks for posting your critical evaluation. It would not benefit the evolution of the Sins on-line experience if only the "happy campers" (who have not had thos
@ Eranikus Thanks for your polite feedback relative to my (too) long post. Some gamers have experienced no problems whatsoever connecting to the Blizzard servers, some others have. Some gamers have experienced no problems whatsoever hosting and/or joining games on ICO, some others have. The issue, on this forum, is that too many gamers (not all, not most : too many) are declaring that they're having technical problems with the Sins multip
I agree with most of the opinions of a previous poster (Melric), even though I have found some people (through this forum) with whom I can play ICO games without experiencing any problem : excellent host, no joining issues, no lag, no crashes, no save-game reload issues. I base my agreement, then, on reading a lot of posts, on this forum, concerning the hosting and joining difficulties of (too) many users. The fact that I have no problems with ICO cannot be generalized
@ xiceburnx Great to have some news from you! Tonight, we're finishing a game. The trick is to regularly visit this thread, especially between 7 and 7:55 PM (USA EST time). That's when we finalize the roster for a new game and distribute its passowrd by forum PM. @ joe_momma It's because of an ambiguity in my formulation : "best" is best, so I meant that THREE players were the best -- equally best! (In your case, I wrote "possibly" because I haven't had t
Thanks, Pogue. See you tomorrow.
@ Kruelgor the Great : Thanks for the invitation. Perhaps one of the regulars who visit this thread will take you on, but please be aware that most of us, on this thread, do not engage in all-human games. ____________________________________________________________________________________ We specialize, on this thread, on Human alliances against A.I. alliances -- and we seek reliable team8s who have stable and lag-free connections (and who are not quitters!). Bad news ! My girlfriend just read me the "riot act". She does not agree that I can neglect her two evenings in a row. Consequently, I cannot play tonight (Monday). But I will be free the other evenings of this week : for example, tomorrow (Tuesday), at 8 PM, would be OK. Sorry, but she went to bed yesterday at 10 PM and I was in at 1 AM : two evenings in a row of that kind of situation is not "romantic". :NOTSURE:
Also plz look into the issue regarding the tred-reply box, it's very small
I experience the same problem. Either it is a very small reply box, or if I click "enlarge editor", it becomes a narrow vertical one. Clicking on "expand editor" does nothing. I can't resize the reply box to the full horizontal layout it used to have. As it is now, editing replies is visually a chore.
Monday morning. I'm writing from my office, before my 8:10 AM class. Thanks, Pogue and Joe : it was a great 4½ hours of gaming. I'm available to continue any evening, this week. I control 4 planets, and my big fleet controls the only entry-point to the four. The next planet is a Gas Giant : nothing interesting there. My problem is that when I move my big fleet there, the comps (dark blue + pink) pounce on the fourth planet I just left with few defenses. I must hold on to my fou
Pogue Jr does have that very special look in his face : the I'm-gonna-conquer-the-Galaxy-one-of-these-days look. I'm sure he's going to beat the crap out of me at Sins III !
07:33 PM. OK. I'll be around, on ICO, after 07:55. At last, you got around to include a picture of yourself ! We can still see "no photo" below the pic : that's because its size is not near enough the maximum limit of 50 x 50. I had to use XP's Paint program to blow-up the size of my PSI icon to 48 x 48, to cover the "no photo" label. Try it.
@ thrash242: 1. Possible. Some games do that. 2. I am not asking for their complete and detailed A.I. design, only for some basic info like : In what measure does a "hard" comp build more (or research more) than a "normal" comp ? In what measure does a hard comp see more of the map (including the location and size of enemy fleets) than a normal comp ? 3. A valid preference. But why deprive the more calculating gamers of some info on the "routines" of t
[...L]ock teams choose the hard AI for your partner and choose the easy AI for the opponents. You'll win, and you'll be learning at the same time. Then progess up to more difficult challenges.
Great idea ! That's precisely what I do when trying to learn any type of RTS games. It allows me to feel less under pressure.
One type of solution (the one I exclusively use) is to meet and negotiate with people here, on the forum. By reading their posts, you can make an educated guess on their personality. You then arrange to meet on ICO and you protect your game with a password, which has been revealed, here, by forum PMs from the host. I am a newbie, at Sins : worst than that, a « n00b » ! I would not risk wasting time and energy, on ICO, joining games with total strangers. T
