What you're seeing is normal and working correctly. Regular ships can't be upgraded the way you expect. When they get enough experience, the green arrow appears, and they get an automatic increase in hit points, which makes them stronger.

Options --> Interface --> Nebula Opacity Set it to a value that gives what you like. Use 0 to turn it off.

The Empathy Engine is an artifact that can appear on a planet at the start of a game. The description uses "factions" when "races" is probably better to avoid confusion with the factions a race can have. Also, it should be possessive " race's ".

The description for a Corrosive planet indicates it can't be settled by non-carbon life forms. This implies carbon life forms can colonize it. I'm playing as the Terran Alliance, but I can't colonize it without extreme colonization. Text that is similar to text used for other types of extreme planets may be better.

The Xeloxi are allied with pirates and can't attack them. Ship graveyards and precursor anomalies are protected by pirates, but they can be attacked by the Xeloxi. If the attack doesn't destroy all the pirate ships, they can't be attacked with a ranged missile attack because we are not at war.

While playing as the Xeloxi I got the Poor Housing event. It includes complaints about poor housing causing crime. It seems odd that the Xeloxi would be complaining about crime. It does mention insurrection and other things, but why the problem with crime? Also, notice mention of colony . This event happens on a c

The Done button for the starbase screen is active only for the lower half of the button. This can be very frustrating. It has been this way since the alpha and was reported then by players. Also, the mining starbase for Xeloxi appears very large in the starbase screen when it is built. This screenshot shows the size of the starbase and the active area of the Done button.<img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/24/51/2451921/d0331ade-ccc3-4a6a-80ce-0ca755f480e5.png" alt="

Extreme planets are red in the galaxy map to show they can't be settled until the Extreme Colonization tech is researched. I had a game where they stayed red after I got that tech. I tried to repeat the problem many times and failed every time. After thinking about it, I remembered that I got the tech in a trade instead of researching it. I was able to do more testing and verify that was the cause. I have a save available <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/1d20k3
feedback: AI fleets do not seem to know how to target military starbases yet. I have an opponent in my current game that should be able to curbstomp me but their ships are just milling around instead of attacking my military starbase (they killed the ships i had parked on my planets that they couldnt invade though)
The first time I used a military starbase it was at a star system with a core world and 4 colonies.&

There is a tech called Cybernetics. Only races with the Fertile ability can research it. The Mimot and Torians have this ability. The Cybernetics tech is part of a branch that follows Xeno Medicine that has 7 techs. All of them require the Fertile ability. Races without the Fertile ability will have the branch end at Xeno Medicine. This is what the Terran branch looks like.<img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/24/51/2451921/1351e0cb-6eec-4e50-89ce-66a1bc79a2d8.png" alt="" width="19
I can't get battle viewer to work. I assumed it was bugged, but I saw the guy on YouTube use it. Am I missing something in settings? I click playback, and the music starts, the loading screen comes up and it will hang there until I out of it. I even started one, went to the store and came back. No progress in watching a super-exciting space battle, and more importantly the ship tactics in action.
The battl

I have gathered a lot of typos, bugs and other problems into two documents. Some of them I reported many versions ago, but they haven't been fixed. Others are new reports. One document (GC4 101 Bugs Part 1) has typos and similar errors that can be fixed easily. I also have the reports sorted alphabetically by the name of the file containing the problem. I don't think they will take very long to fix, if my suggested fixes are approved. The other do

This the normal reaction for colony ships. They nearly always join whoever defeats them in battle. They don't join the space monsters because they do get destroyed, and baby space monsters are born in their place. I think they do get destroyed by pirates. I know they join precursor sentinels. They join everyone else. You can defeat colony ships that have joined the precursor sentinels to get extra colony ships. You can also defeat your colony ship
This has been an issue since the beta. I've played as the Onyx a few times and when you mouse over the growth rate there is never any reference to promethion stocks. If it has no bearing on growth rate (which it really doesn't look like it does and I've never seen a tool tip for it) it should be removed from the race description.
Promethion does affect growth rate, but only when it's not broken.&

I started a game with them yesterday. Their growth didn't seem right, but I was thinking it was adjusted slightly in one of the recent updates. I decided today it wasn't right, so I checked the same way I did much earlier when I found it wasn't working. That was fixed and has been fixed for a while. I just finished testing in 1.01.343914b on TEST. It is definitely broken again. Promethion does nothing to growth. This has been added to the Feedback

This is caused by the Auto Favorite feature. I believe it is on by default. There is no section for favorite ships, so they go into the Specialty Ships section. I just verified it by making a military ship with Auto Favorite on. It went into the Specialty Ships section. Turn off Auto Favorite to prevent that in the future. <p
Along this line I would love the map to allow us to add markers ourselves. All enemy(pirate/monster) bases should stay lit up once discovered. If not allow us to place a coordinate beacon to show the danger zone on our maps. Just give us some symbols and allow us to place several of each symbol if desired to draw on the universe like a football playbook. An overlay that doesn't really interact.
This can be done

There is a scrolling problem with the citizen list when population is more than six. This shows where it occurs. To make it easier to see in action (or non-action), I have a save at the time this screenshot was taken. It is available here .&
