Hi I have played a touch of Gal Civ II waaay back, and hardly touched Gal Civ III. So I know nothing about how war is intended to be in Gal Civ III. Is there a post describing how it will be when the game is finished (in general, not in full detail of course). I dream of trying to overwhelm point defense with missiles and launch fighters from my carriers. Maybe having a huge laser/plasma beam on a battleship that will

Since starbases cannot be moved and they can be overwhelmed, they will always have drawbacks. Still I dont see why one should not be able to upgrade a select few in the most important systems, in such a way that they can fight back against a fleet. I will be very expensive, it will take away resources that could have become ships but it will be very satisfying to watch them try to stop a fleet by themselves (and a few escorts/frigats). Long range missiles and tons of point defense sho

I have had the game for a while, but not really played much. I still dont get this minor nation thing. You can only have one taken into your empire, and you chose on the basis of which unit you want??

I was a bit hyped for this (like Civ V) before release, but I have managed to hold off and see. I will wait until I get Beyond Earth on a good sale I guess. Still waiting for the ultimate CIV V sale with everything at 80% off :P

Wow, I didnt mean to hit a nerve. I still think that your first post is putting the game in a worse light than it derserves, but I did not mean to insult.

I was hoping that CIV V was gonna be an evolution on CIV IV (best 4x ever), but it was a revolution. I never bought CIV V (I have played all previous versions since the original CIV). A good sequel recipe 1. Improve graphics 2. Improve GUI and make all functionality easy to find and use 3. Chose one or two weak parts of the original and reinvent them. Make them fun 4. Keep the core of the old game 5. More content. Since much of the basics

Sure people may have whatever playstyles they prefer. I dont mind that, but I dont think that this game will hand you a hand as bad as described in this thread. Sure, once in a while you get a very bad spot, but suggesting that you always need multiple restarts makes me think you are a bit spoiled :P

Why do you want a perfect start? Work with what you get first time. The fun of the game is winning despite your problems and challenges

I am in the CIV IV is the best game ever camp. I never bought CIV V due to the problems described in this thread. I thought that this game might win me over, but I am not so sure. The price of the game seem to have risen by 25% here in Norway on release day, or did I just dream that. I am pretty sure it went from 340 to 449 NOK. I am still awaiting CIV V complete with all edition for next to nothing on a Steam sale. I might try then. I am now back to AOW I

Things that could be adjusted with difficulty levels: 1. How easy/difficult it is to get allies among the minor nations 2. The number of monsters sent into the world by the SK 3. The balance between good/bad random events (if such exist in this game) 4. The quality of the crafting materials found (less good stuff on harder difficulties) 5. The speed of the doomsday counter on some events If these were ajusted

Which parts of diplomacy from any game do you like the most? What parts do you remember long after playing the most? 2. Looking back, how many turns do your favorite games last? This is important to know the specific number of turns the game in Question lasted. 3. Consider all The 4X strategy games that you have ev

I am also a huge CIV IV fan. Played it for years, but have stopped now. Dominions 4 have layers upon layers to try and discover and is my current favourite. Each nation is a different game. Its not well balanced, just full of FUN to discover. I was almost overrun by the undead in my current game, but discovered that I could get astral magicians that could summon flying level two priests. Took hours upon hours to turn the tide in my favor, but now they are gone. So
