Ok I spoke to soon. I received the CD last night when I went home literally 1 hour after I posted.

I pre-ordered GalCiv II last year along with the CD option. I have not received anything yet in the mail. When are the pre-order CD's being shipped?
Isn't a ship built on a large hull with advanced weapons in the advanced stages essentially a Battlecruiser? I haven't gotten to hulls beyond large yet but I am far into the tech tree for the various weapons and defense systems. If you are similarly equipped to the AI's battlecruisers, you actually do have a battle cruisers... perhaps you should name it a Twersky Class Battlecruiser if that makes you feel better.
Is that like, "All your base are belong to us"?
I don't think there are any canned ships, except as the AI is concerned. I've built some very nice custom ships on large hulls that have outmatched the AI's standard Battleships. I wonder if we are able to export our custom ships for other players to import into their games? (provided they achieve the proper requisites of course).
Anyone notice that the Torian Confederation Ambassador looks... well like a giant penis? In keeping with the gender equality theme of this thread... perhaps one of other ambassadors can look more like a vagina? That said, perhaps the human race is the only race that has male and female species? For all I know, the Drengin are unisex beings that mate by rubbing each others ear lobes as they are genetically evolved from the Ferengue? .... someone pass that space bong... I'll brainstorm some more
Small bug encountered yesterday: I started a game as a custom race and selected among the other AI race the Iconians which were the only ones I set as "Allied". The Iconians remained allied throughout the game however, I kept getting popup messages from the Iconians declaring war --- and although the logo and name of the emperor was Iconian, it substituted the horse-like Iconian leader with the preying mantis leader (belonging to that other race) which leads me to believe there is an
In then end, however, it will be the players that customize their ships that get the best "Bang for the buck" Outstanding. How about an online exchange for user created custom designed ships --- perhaps in the metaverse section?
Ok - Downloaded the multimedia pack and sound works fine. Only new item to report is that I am now at a point in the game where it crashes almost immediately after a fleet battle although I cannot say for certain that the fleet battle is the cause.
When I am at war with the AI and the AI initiates a communication requesting for peace, Beta 4 will crash to desktop if I click to select any of the AI's technologies. Same thing here. AI requests peace. I click the reject button and then click select "peace" again. If I attempt to add money or technology to the offer, the game crashes back
Here's a short list: 1- The games crashes and generates an .exe error when I attempt to launch it from the start menu using the regular GalCiv II shortcut. I am able to launch and play the game with no problems by clicking on the config shortcut first and then using the link in the config screen to start the game. 2- The game appears pretty stable. Only froze on two occasions requiring a restart. One time I am guessing was when I attempted to rename all 4 ships I had in spa
There doesn't seem to be a single thread repository for reporting bugs, so I will post mine in this thread and update as I play more. Overall, the game is terrific. Just as reference, I got Civilization 4 two weeks ago and have neglected it in favor of the GalCiv II Beta the minute I downloaded it on Friday. Here's a short list: 1- The games crashes and generates an .exe er
I've had this bug too... Once a custom ship is saved, I can go back in (upgrade) the saved custom ship and remove all the "extras" (i.e. eye candy components) but not the weapons, defenses, modules..etc. components. For example, In order to replace on laser on the old design with a newer laser, it seems to require me to "clear" the whole design and start over from scratch. The "remove" button doesn't work for anything except the "extras", and the other components such as weapons no longer appear
I very, very, very strongly disagree, utterly & completely with Jelvis. The shipyard and the ability to custom design ships is what I rate as the best feature of this game. I can't get through the tech tree fast enough to add more components to them. Hell, I can safely say I have spent more time at the shipyard than I have in the game in the approx. 6 hours of gameplay I put in so far. I easily have about 8 custom ship models and I have only gotten as far as "defender". It would be co
I'm probably playing right into Stardock's hands, and the closed Beta 3 perhaps aims to achieve this, but I ordered GalCiv I the beginning of last week so that I can get a feel for the product, and I'm pretty excited! I've been playing the game every night since the time I ordered it. You probably missed the above section of my post, Ugleb. I o
I see other users are having the same difficulty with the lack of disclosure about the absence of a downloadable Beta until the end of October... Reading through the mock/beta user manual posted by Frogboy here: https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=87351#673497 The screen discussing the Domestic Policy screen states: "When elections come, the AVERAGE morale (not the snapshot anymore) will be what determines the election" uhhhhhh.... No. There will be no elections. My species worship an authoritarian deity with absolute power (Me)... and anyone who says differently gets stuffed into a Diebold ma

I don't understand why there should be deadlines for the Betas. If you pre-order you should get whatever Beta is available at that point, period. Its obvious we're dealing with programmers here and not salespeople or customer relations experts. I am actually somewhat bitter at this experience and considering asking to be taken off the pre-order list. If a customer wants to give you their money in order to have immediate access to a glitchy Beta that they can play over and over in 5 s
You're saying we have to wait almost two months, salivating while watching others in the forum get playtime in with the Beta? Where was the window expiration date for Beta 3 posted on the pre-order page? I hope Stardock will make this right for those of us that ordered this weekend and allow us to download Beta 3A and then add text to the pre-order page stating when the next Beta is available so that others aren't piping mad
Sure, when I bought the game on Friday, it would have been cool to start playing the beta right then. But I'd rather StarDock kept working on cool stuff like their WindowsBlinds product and GalCiv II than fully automating this website. I agree, however it would have been nice if they designated an employee each weekend to check on orders and fo
I purchased the game and installed the Stardock software. I don't see any Beta Versions of Galactic Civilizations II available for download on Stardock Central. Where do I look?
I pre-ordered the game as instructed above. I don't see where I should go to download the Beta in Stardock Central. No version Beta or otherwise of GalCiv II is listed in the games download section.
If I wanted ground combat I would buy something along the lines of Generals or Desert Rats.
