yeah i personally like the variation in the races too. i agree a set stat might be a ok idea for the yor though
What about the idea of having the ability to research techs that will allow you to upgrade the abilities of the Yor citizens that you create as you go through the game?
The Yor already have special techs that boost the stats of all of their citizens. I thought about having it unlock a new citizen type with better stats but it felt very micro. Or to do it well we would want new citizen portraits for each tier, etc. Which added a lot of complexity for that one feature.
On the topic of citizen stats:
Interesting how devisive the idea of normalizing citizen stats by race would be. I do agree that making that change now would steal some of the depth and variation (even if that variation isn't communicated very well). It would probably make more sense to have have citizen traits that boost each of the stats and have the % chance of having that trait based on the race (so all Navigators are "Geniuses" but only 10% of humans are, 30% of Altarians are "Likeable" but 0% of Drengin are, etc).
Not the hard caps, but enough that when you see one you think "I should make this guy a scientist!" And gives you a different play experience when you are playing navigators "everyone is a great scientist" as compared to when Im playing Drengin and I want to capture a mimot world just to get some entertainers.
I think that's one of my favorite faction differentiation pieces on the leader side. I'm always looking for good commanders with high Reoslve, and when Im playing Drengin or Arcean they are in abundance. But I have a hard time finding a good Minister of Technology.
