So, I downloaded this because of the "Minimal" theme I saw in the video. If it were available, I would renew my now-lapsed OD subscription (which I've been thinking about anyway). BUT, there is no such theme available in the trial package--and I have no time to design my own. Is it out there somewhere?

Excellent points, starkers. Not only that, but in a practical sense, how many 20-somethings do you know that have money to sink into development? Very few. The "old fogeys" bankroll the development of the technology we all like so much. I'm still convinced that a better metaphor--or at least a consistent one--would go a long way toward helping anybody use computers, not just older folks.

Good point, George. The thing is, all computer graphical user interfaces are built around some kind of metaphor. One has to be able to wrap his head around the metaphor before he can grasp how to make the thing work. I did a consulting job for the city finance office where I live yesterday. The poor lady needed to install Java. Not a big deal, right? It is when MS has stopped distributing the Java VM and that's where IE takes you to install it..

I'm a user-interface nut. Usability is of paramount importance to me. That's the number one reason I switched back to windows from linux. Stop laughing. *g* Usability in applications, that is...not usability in the os interface. Windows' primary fault in its UI is that it is somewhat rigid. Either you do things the MS way...or you have to switch shells. Programs like Stardock's ObjectBar are changing that...but sometimes too many option aren't

Overall, the new site is MUCH better. And MUCH faster...this is a definite plus. Occasionally I have to surf using Dialup and WC was painful at 56k. My only beef echoes one above: I would like to be able to limit the number of galleries displayed, as well as choose which galleries I see. It must be something with Firefox's RSS implementation. I get the XML doc to load, but I can't get the Live Bookmark to work.
Question: is the wincustnews.xml feed the only one operational now? I tried the newest.xml feed, but it seems to be broken.
Off-topic here, but I don't know where else to let you know... I'm a regular reader through firefox's live bookmarks. But your RSS feed seems to be broken. the last post I got was "generosity index" both in Firefox and in thunderbird. I'm missing my "opinionated techie." Also a "techie," I hold many of the same views as you.
