I have 81.98 drivers and the game works fine for me. Same here.

I'm glad to hear that there is a 1.X.2 on the way! I love Galciv2, but I absolutely suck at it. The Yor are stomping me on Normal level right now. I can't wait to see what the update includes. Go team! *Slaps Stardock on the rear*
The forums keep double-posting comments that I leave on other's threads and when I try to edit either of the duplicate posts, I get an error. It has happened to me on 6-7 different comments. I am using the IE 7 beta on Windows XP SP2. Here's the error page: Server Error in '/' Application. --------------------------------------------------------------------
(Huckdogg, this is not a good place for bug reports, this is a news post. ) Thank you, Datum, I will move the bug report to the bug report forum. My reason for posting here was that I couldn't delete the duplicate comment, so I turned it into an explanation. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Ew.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid
I commented on the PowerUser.TV site, but I just wanted to say thanks again for putting effort into side projects like this. They are very interesting!
Yeah, it has become more standard for game saves and other user specific files to be put in the My Documents folder. I may be the only person, but I like games to do this. For one, I know where to go for all my user-specific files such as save games. No more figuring out which company made the game and then finding that folder in the Program Files directory. Also, when I uninstall a game, i can safely delete the directory that it was stored in without fear of losing my saves in case I want t
I love it how what one person consideres a good idea another considers a bad idea... From what I remember this was designed this way for a very good reason... But I guess you can't please everybody... I think it makes more sense the way it is. If you research lasers, you are ONLY going to get better lasers... if you research ship fleets, the only thing you are going
It is an amazing, time-sucking game. Its great to start a smaller map and just play for a few hours, and then start a big map and having to save and come back (when you finally pull yourself away). I can't wait until people start putting up ship designs in the metaverse. My ships are very ugly and not creative at all (even though I spend half of my game time designing them). I have seen some extre
huckdogg, are you a major fan of ign.com or work for them or something? I dunno why you'd link a review from ign otherwise. I'm sorry you don't like IGN, xFlukex. I know a lot people share your opinion of the site. While I don't feel as strongly as y
That's true, it is just more good rating for GC anyways. *Yawn* Its getting boring now...
I agree totally, but they are a major gaming site and I thought i would alert everyone who feels the way you do. I mean, come on, if GC can get a 9.0 on Gamespot, and IGN gave MoO3 a 9.3, GC should have gotten a 11.2 on IGN.
IGN has posted their review of Galactic Civilizations II!
Yes, it is locked for that part of the campaign. One way to get shield defenses to counter the Drengin beam weapons is to build starbases that give "defense assist" to beam. This will give any ship in a radius around the starbase a beam defense.
and no "taking a breather" doesn't mean hitting the forums 24/7 I second that, Evil Roy. Take a breather for real, guys. We'll be fine!

I just have to chime in and say that Galciv II has not once crashed on me. This is compared to Civ IV, which crashed on me constantly and still crashes occasionally even after the latest patches. This is on Win XP, Geforce 6600GT, Pentium4 3.0 ghz, 1.5 Gig of RAM with latest drivers. I have encountered very few bugs, the biggest being the ship save dialog showing up BEHIND the ship-build screen, which has since been fixed. I am very satisfied with the stability of the game. <img src="http
What the heck, man?? I made a post about it being #2 yesterday and noone posted, it quickly falling to the bottom... -_- I missed it, too, psilontech2. Very sorry about that! <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394
It was actually #2 yesterday, we fell a slot today! Oh, really?! That's insane! The game deserves whatever praises and popularity it receives. It is extremely wonderful to see Stardock gain more and more prestige in the software community. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I enjoy being treated like a valued customer ins
I just wanted to point out that on Gamespot, Galactic Civilizations II is the 3rd most popular game overall as of 3/5/06 at 2:00 PM EST. That means that lots and lots of people are looking at the Galciv II review. More people are looking at Galciv than Black, Star Wars: EaW, and Oblivion! This is great, of course, too, because it is almost like free front-page advertising on one of the major gaming sites! Not to mention that Gamespot AND Gamespy have the Galactic Civilizations II reviews as
Its very nice to see you guys respond to the reviewers' complaints about the difficulty that the game poses to beginners. I, personally, did not have any trouble, but I have been playing Galactic Civilizations 1 for 3 years. Great job! P.S. I think Spiceant has a good suggestion.
What a goof. You claim to be a gaming freak and know how to manage your background processes, yet you can't be bothered to look in the options to disable the SDC background process. Maybe you didn't know the option was there. That's fair, but now you do and you are still arguing with everyone that SDC's background processes are slowing you computer. Don't post stuff like "OMGz sTardok IS teh SPY
Congrats, Stardock!! This is what I found interesting: "The Bad: No multiplayer; tech tree could use more information on new techs." "No multiplayer": I think we have been over that A LOT. Not a minus for me, but for some people. "Tech tree could use more information on new techs": That's all they could come up with? You can't get any better than whe
I LOVE these gameplay examples, Brad. Not only do they provide examples of how the game is intended to be played (therefore providing us with useful tutorials), they are interesting and make me just want to jump right back into playing. I am loving Galciv2 so far, and these kinds of gameplay examples straight from the creators of the game help me enjoy it even more. Try to encourage some of the other developers to do some of these examples. I would
I totally agree that the corners of the map need to scroll diagonally. This was something that I asked for during beta testing and I am very disappointed that it didn't make it in. Every other game of this type allows diagonal scrolling at the corners. At the very least, we could make it an option.
I agree with you 100%, Lyndy62. EVERY new game has bugs, and EVERY new release has problems. But I guarantee that Stardock is watching these forums very closely, replying to problems when they can, and will have things fixed in 1/4 of the time that any other gaming company would. Everyone just calm down. Just because you know that the actual developers are watching and replying in the forums, doesn't mean that you can come on here to scream at them. They WILL fix things. And a huge thank y
