I for one would like to see more of a difference between candidates on the issues. From looking through the core candidate file, I can see that George Bush and John Kerry have "points" on some issues, but other candidates, such as Lyndon Johnson, have no special stance on any issue, making them a "vanilla" candidate. It would also be interesting to see a conservative/liberal scale used....if you come out TOO strongly on Iraq (say 100 points?) you mig

McCain has more loyalty to the Republican party than to jump ship and run against the sitting president. Remember that he was Kerry's first choice as a VP. He's more than welcome to run in 2008. I just wonder what the Dems will have as a battle cry, with no Bush on the ticket.
And who was your candidate to beat Jefferson with? One of those "custom candidates" with all 10's across the board, except for the obligatory 30 in fund raising. Multiplayer has been ruined by those people. I beat Jefferson today with George W. Bush. Yes, the same George W. Bush who's attributes total up to 78, not 130. Calling the campaign against Jefferson "easy" just leads me to believe that you didn't win with a historical candida
Makes the statement that democrats need to learn to stand up for an issue, even when its a losing one, rather than "bend over for it and then whine afterwards" Sounds like a direct shot at the Waffle King to me. If the Democrats had more straight shooters like Barak Obama, maybe they wouldn't be having such a hard time getting elected.
How did you create a candidate with "extra" points? Not that I feel that I need extra points to win ( at least to the point of the game I'm at), but I'd enjoy creating some candidates of the past (not included in the game) and making them better than the standard 75 point created character. Come on now, Arnold has a comeliness of 6? You telling me that people find him no more visually appealing than the average oldster candidate?
Also, I see the computer making speeches on issues (Chinese Military, Korean Diplomacy, and some other vague ones) that I never have access to. Also talking about attributes, such as experience, charisma, etc. Am I just missing an aspect of this game somehow, or is that not something I can ever address?
Could someone explain exactly how the VP candidate helps? I've heard people mention get one with money, get one with experience. Does the game look at his rating and somehow modify your candidate's rating in that based on him?
I've seen them once...Was lucky enough to have them show up in the heart of my empire, where it was easy to speed Avatar production. They took one planet, and didn't get any further than destroying the starbase for that sector. I'd like to see this happen earlier in the game, because it came literally 10 turns before the end. Stuff like this keep you guessing about this game :)
I finally figured out what was keeping my scores from the list....My internet security. I had set it to high to avoid pop ups (which were pulling me out of GalCiv)
I don't pretend to be an expert at Galactic Civilizations, but for anyone out there that is having trouble getting started, I've got a few pointers. 1. Try the green thumb bonus. You just cannot beat this one. The joy of having 8 class 25 + planets that crank out dreadnaughts in 7 turns, during a time in which the AI is just fielding frigates, simply cannot be understated. It is far far more valuable IMO than improving any one aspect of your skills (military/social production, etc),
Yes, I've noticed that on even a huge sized map that one of the teams (invariably the Arceans in my games for some reason) will start in some backwater corner totally out of range of anything other than a few planets. I'll never make contact with them; I just get the message that they are surrendering to another AI team.
I've never had this happen, and I've sided with the Altarians in plenty of games. Seems to me that the big advantage to being "good" is that you'll have a friend in them if you rated at least good, especially if Saintly. It does irk me that even when allied that they refuse to trade military technology to me at ALL; They will turn down 4 or 5 good techs for one military tech.
Ok, we've all noticed the Star Trek references. The Star Wars (terror stars, mostly) aren't hard to miss. I've seen planets named Hoth and Alderan. I've noticed a few others: Restraunt of Eternity and Galactic Guide book are taken directly from the old BBC series/book series "Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" The "Undead Soldier" seems to come right from the "Universal Soldier" movie.
Once I really got into Moo2, I quit using creative totally. It took too much of the fun of trading/spying out of the game. I don't know that I can do without my treasured green thumb bonus though. When you think about it, planet quality is the one thing that you simply cannot get a bonus in (again, I've never seen the planet quality resource)...You can always improve economy...you can always improve military or research. But beyond three techs (and terraforming way late) you ar
Unless I'm using the green thumb bonus, I don't use 14's, let alone 13's. It isn't worth it. They just sap your economy, and even when fully developed with the baseline social improvements, they contribute virtually nothing. STAY AWAY STAY FAR AWAY!
I've never had that much trouble with them. In the games I've played through to completion (all on gigantic or huge maps), its always the Altarians that are my biggest rival. My strategy to deal with them is pretty simple: get defenders fast, and build four of them in every colony before I switch to a constructor program to max out starbases. The worst thing you can do is to ignore military early on. The drenging look at your rating, figure that there are easier fights to pick, and usually
Remember in Moo2 how the "creative" ability was hands down better than anything else? How it was hard to lose a game when you had the ability? Well, Gal Civ doesn't seem to have anything *quite* as advantageous, but my vote for best way to spend 9 points goes to planet quality. I've found that this gives me a huge advantage, especially early on when everyone else is struggling to find decent worlds. With the 15% ability, a class 14 planet (and there are always a lot of these) becomes a 16 im
I've downloaded everything from Stardock that I can find....Including the huge multimedia file list.
Done all that. I've registered everywhere that I can, including the part that had me re-enter the code from my CD jewelcase.
Four years is a LONG time in this game...It can take eons for 36 turns to pass towards the end. I'd like to see it every year, to be honest. Hey, maybe we can vote on it in game...
I'm not an Infogames basher. I loved Moo2 so much that after finding Moo3 unplayable I played at least 20 full games on huge galaxy (yeah, I'm out of work so insert no-life comments here). Moo2 ranks in my top five games ever. But Moo3 was just not ....FUN....They took too much out of it. You like it? Great. I am GLAD to hear that. I hope a LOT of people like it, so that the series doesn't die. But personally, I found reading a sitrep dull, the races disinteresting, and overall the game
Before anyone asks: Yes, I am constantly connected to the internet via cable modem. I've got the bonus pack version of the game.
Dreadnaughts CAN knock out the 20/13 combat transports, but they take damage. Battleships usually lose. Frigates? forget it. My point is that a transport should never be so strong that you are afraid to attack it when it is unescorted.
I've played three games. Decent (normal) difficulty. The score I read at the end of the game indicates that I should be on the list somewhere, yet I've yet to appear. After my game is complete, it asks if I want to submit to metaverse. I hit yes and then the program exits to desktop. Is it supposed to do that, or is something wrong?
I was so geared up for Moo3 when it came out that I broke Moo2 back out (after 5 years of gathering dust). I really hope that the sheer awful-ness of Moo3 will not kill the series. Was it just me, or were the races in Moo3 just...awful? They took out the easily identifiable, distinctive races that we all knew and loved: Elerians, Mrrshans, Alkari etc, and replaced them with a bunch of jellyfish that all looked about the same. Yeah, I read the story and why the Eleriansd others weren't in it
