Of course! But only if someone else has researched it. Go to the trade screen. You can trade techs, cash, ships, starbases, planets, wonders, treaties, and probably some other stuff too. I've never been able to get an alien to give up a planet, though. (in GC I).

Nope. S/D never answered the question. You are on the hotseat!
This was asked yesterday. Think I'll dig around and see if anyone answered it.
Okay, I'll be good and post my Metaverse question here. What is the "Galactic Map" showing me? Are those different player-empires in some way in direct competition or is that just a representation of their relative score? Do the locations of their empires mean anything? Thx.
It would be nice if you could look. But, look at it this way... If the alien offering the deal is a friend, or a potential friend, and you want the tech offered and don't mind if they have the tech asked for take the deal. Trading with them makes them like you. On the flip side, sometimes an alien who wants to buddy up with you will show up and offer you a fantastic deal. So, it works both ways. Also keep in mind that they're going to get that tech anway, especi
Oh man, SE IV had the coolest ship design system. I mean, you could put anything you could think of on a ship. Organic Techs were always my fav. On the downside, SE IV ship battles were SO tedius. SE V comes out later this year and hopefully the new version will fix that. I just hope Malfador dumps that lousy distributor they had for Starfury (Strategy First I think?). Maybe Aaron Hall will copy the success of the GC II release. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/
Hi Linky. It is very hard to figure out what's wrong in your specific case but try some of these: 1. Buy colony ships once they are half built. Grab as many colonies as you can. Use up all of your initial cash on this if you have to. 2. At first, research those techs that increase your research points. Don't ignore the rest, you must remain competitive. Pick a couple of tech areas to specialize in, and trade for the rest with your friends. 3. Population is importa
I'm stuck at at work too, dreaming of GC two. Nothing's getting done here today!
When a constructor arrives on the same 'tile' as one of your starbases you should get a dialogue box asking you if you want to upgrade the starbase. If you aren't there must be an option to turn off the dialogue. You can probably select 'construct' for a constructor stacked on a starbase to upgrade it.
Shouldn't the Jolly Roger have horns or be Torian-shaped or something?
I thought about this some last night. Don't the Cargo hulls have turdy hitpoints? You might make a colony ship bristling with laser cannons and find that it gets hit by a Torian with a rubber band gun and explodes in a glorious ball of flame. Or maybe not. I haven't tested it.
My ships look horrible! How much time did it take to design those? Any of them? They all look so cool!
Sentry and Guard (when working right) come in real handy at the end of a large game when you have hundreds of ships or fleets on the board. If you use them, you will have sensor arrays at the edge of your 'territory' that you won't want to have to 'pass turn' every round. You can set them to sentry so they only alert when they see somehting. Guard is the same and works great for starbase garrisons. Not sure if the feature is buggin in GC2. I haven't gotten to a game of that magnitude
Morale control is one of the hardest parts of the GalCiv series. I've not mastered it in GalCiv II yet, but here's what works in GalCiv I... 1. Build the entertainment facilities and research the upgrades. 2. Lower taxes make happier people. 3 Population control. You will need to build transports and move people from overcrowded planets to planets needing people. I imagine building farms has the same effect until the poplulation of the planet reaches its maximum. Once all yo
Oh, the pack is out? I've been so busy being amazed I didn't even know!
Don't confuse influence with morale. If you build an influence starbase the most immediate result should be an increase in your local influence borders. You will want to build an influence starbase if an alien influence exceeds yours where one of your planets is. If you don't, your planet could defect to the side of the alien. A more subtle result is your voting power in the galactic UN council (whateve it's called). More influence = more voting power. Morale can be influenced by a st
Please explain it to me! Please!
You win, Kapeman. Years ago, when I was excited about the realease of MOO3 (for some unknown reason) my local Mega Store told me every day for a week or more after release that the game wasn't out yet. What he meant (according to a friend of a friend who worked there) is it wasn't OUT of the CRATE that was sitting in the back room yet. I vowed to not buy retail anymore. But then I recently had a horrible experience with another company's electronic d/l. The demo worked fine, the full
Gawsh you guys make neat ships. I'm so ashamed of mine that I can't even describe them to you. Let's just say they all feature backward wings and non-symetrical design. It really stems from having no patience and a low tolerance for experimentation.
Hi! In another thread praising the quality of hte in-game music (which is super!) someone suggested they were going to add customer tunes to the game? Can we use our own MP3s or WAVs in the game? How? That is, what directory do we put them in and/or where is the playlist? I suck less at making my own music than I do at designing cool looking ships. Thanks.
Look for a post from CariElf from about 2 or 3 weeks ago.
No problems. Played for about 4 hours so far. Game runs great and I have an old PC (5 years old). In fact, my only complaint is I'm having trouble staying focused at work today, unless you count staying focused on the game I want to play tonight.
I LOVE your Imperator! My ships look stupid. One has a wing on backward because it wouldn't flip no matter what I tried. It's 'upgrade' design has beams for wings and big knobby thing like a tumor on one side. I think it's supposed to be a sensor array or something. What's that big block under the Imperator do? It looks like it has holes or missile tubes in the front of it. A big missile launcher, very big? Or maybe a drop-ship for a surgical strike team? Or maybe it's just a big solid block us
Approval doesn't seem to matter much until you upgrade your government. Then you'd better keep the peeps happy or they'll vote you out of office or worse. So, if you are a Galactic Despot, never upgrade to a Republic and you'll be a Happy Little Dictator.
You finished the campaign? Do you have a life? Maybe try playing it at a higher difficulty level?
