Hey guys, do you think I will spoil the game for myself by joining in on the beta? I dont want to ruin it by knowing too much of how the game works. You know what I mean?

Are you guys afraid you will spoil the game by playing it in its early iterations as it is and knowing the inner workings? I'm so torn to help out but dont want to spoil the game.
I love the debate about geology in a world that has magic flying all over the place, etc. LOL guys. Its fantasy.. anything can happen. Maybe a paralyzed water dragon is peeing off the side of the continent :P

Can somone explain why the pirates of bases with fleets multiple times larger than a private empire has? With one planet/base? Also, what is the explanation for the suicide runs that they do? Also, the designer noted that pirates are important in the TEC lore, but I see none in the manual. How is a civ that bans an entire planet of people tollerant of a pirate base and actions in its area of space?
I mentioned this in another thread, but i wonder if you could organize your fighter/bombers into "wings" where they are basically a mini fleet that operate as one unit. That way you could dock/undock them, and have them go after X target. Instead of every which way.
[quote] oh, you should be able to control the fighters/bombers with two buttons (a dock button, and a deploy button), but otherwise their behaviour in a fight should be automatic. In addition, their first instinct should be to auto dock when no enemies are around and auto deploy when enemies show up. What if you need to focus all your bombers on a single target? if they were automatic theyd all go for a different target and they wouldnt kill a damn thing j
[quote]Bombers are most certainly not weak, they just require large numbers. Yes, that sounds like it amounts to the same thing, but consider the mechanics of the buggers for a moment. Five squadrons of bombers can cross the grav well quickly, and really screw up a frigate on a pass. It takes a long time to make a noticeable dent in an attack force. Ten squadrons of bombers can certainly blow up a frigate or two on a pass. This is scary, one frigate every shot, with the carrier
Thanks for the replies. Any way that we can get auto-docking in as a feature? :)
Right now, all my fighter and bomber squadrons just hang out in space if there is nothing to attack. I know that they dock before a jump, but it appears to me only for asthetic reasons, as they reapear after the jump even if they dont make it back to dock. Is there any real reason that the dock function is there other than for appearance and maybe clutter control? Shouldnt the fighters and bombers be patrolling during peace time, heading back to the ship after their CAP is done, etc?<b
I would like to see this feature as well. What is the purpose for docking the ships for other than asthetic purposes and clutter clean up? They should dock for supplies, etc.
I dont mind the pirates, I just dont see how they get anything from running suicide missions. What lore/mechanic explains a group of pirates launching into their deaths? Arent pirates more crafty than that?
I wonder if the AI will be as good as galciv 2?
Why does somone need god watching them in order to do good? Just because there is no god does not mean that society should not be civilized. God does not have to be what makes us human. Our philosphy, our own sentience should be enough to dictate our behaviour. Ironically, religion is the single greatest killer of all humanity and will probably be the cause of its eradication if it should happen.
Blame it on the rain, yeah yeah.
Hey guys. Playing a map with a random amount of opponents with random intelligence. I just colonized a planet and when I looked at the map.. it shows the map of earth! Do you think this is a bi product of the randomization of opponents and the terrans where just left out, but not the mapping for them?
I know the problem. You are trying to play the game on Novell. Please play it on a windows computer
