i researched it. Then I looked at my minimap because it said it would mark the stars gray. I could see no change on the map! All the stars still looked the same color to me! ~SDC~

"Where do they push other products" On the Software Page, under the Drengin.net tab, there are 3 other shareware games listed for download in addition to patches for Galciv. I do not have Drengin.net and I do not want those games. That is where they are pushing other products. There is an option to hide products on this screen but you are specifically told that you cannot hide shareware products you have not downloaded. So again that is where other products are being pushed. <br
thanks! ~SDC~
yes i see these *'s all the time on most (but not all) of my planets. I don't know what they are for either. ~SDC~
I have put $$ into espionage until I have been told I know everything about the empire, but when I look on their stats screen, I can see all sorts of info (like how they spend their $$) but I do not see anything that says how much trade income they have. Is such information available? ~SDC~
Everytime I play I learn something new... I discovered that you can give your ships destinations by r-clicking on the minimap! I've been playing in a large galaxy and sending out scores of ships and always I've been clicking on the ship, then clicking on the minimap to switch the view to a new location, then r-clicking on the big map to give my ship a destination. Last night I accidentally r-clicked on the minimap and it gave my ship a destination to that area! Woohoo! this will save
same here. whenever i goto play, first thing i do is up the volume. ~SDC~
i've found that you click on the task in the taskbar and that will minimize it. ~SDC~
Yes I loaded up my saved game after patching and my approval rating was 100! And all my planets had 100 morale. Before patching the approval rating was mid-60's (with planet morales between 40 and 100). I was able to increase my tax rate from 50% up to 62% and still have a 100% approval rating with 100 morale for all planets. I played for 40 or so turns at this tax rate and my approval rating eventually dropped down to 88%, and this was upgrading to the 3rd govt type. So far the mor
Yeah i noticed that last night. I was dissapointed that it wouldnt give me stats on "All", but it was nice to be able to show/hide the trade routes i did not initiat on the map. ~SDC~
well in their fixes thread they have made some changes to the interface as well in the coming patch. (rightclick on things for info, putting more info on the higher-level screens so you don't have to drill down as far, making info available that wasn't before (such as the race living on an uncolonized planet, etc)). I'm keeping an open mind and will unshelve the game when the patch is released. Until then I'll play Galciv :) ~SDC~
woohoo! ~SDC~
Use Notepad to edit your playlist. Winamp is real good at putting relative paths in there. If each song does not begin with "C:\" then chances are Galciv will not find it. Put the full path to each song in the playlist. Or, in winamp, save the playlist directly to the Galciv folder. I think that will force it to put the full paths on the songs. I don't think saving it in C:\ does this, as winamp decides it can still use a relative path to get to the songs. ~SDC~
I voted for MOO3. Galciv is a great game and further work is being done on it already. MOO3 could be a good game if further work is done on it. The fixes listed in the coming code-patch look like they will help some. But more work needs to be done to make it really good. I'd like to see that work done. ~SDC~
I'm glad to see the cheese is somewhat being rectified. However, I am bothered by the "Just don't ruin your game by abusing the system" argument. The same could be said about the deficiencies you are deciding to work on. For example, you are working on the strategic AI and its ability to deal with starbases, etc. I could argue that AI is good enough and only a small percentage of the players have noticed the AI's deficiency in this category. I could then say that you should just not
while u can't speed up terror stars, you can just pile up fleets of constructors and launch them across the screen and put up a terror star (or regular base) right there. Same effect :) ~SDC~
It leads to the following 2 abuses: 1. Build a capital. Load all the pop onto a colonizer and a transport sitting next to the planet. Trade the planet to the AI for something good. Start a new capital somewhere else. Now take the planet back. You *might* have to give the planet away again just before the new capital finishes...I am not sure. 2. Take another empire's capital. Wait for them to build a new one. Take it. Repeat as necessary. If the AI gets low on planets, y
hey now i've gotten to High espoinage level. When I did, I was hoping to see some economic detail about them. i wanted to see their trade income, their tribute income, their tribute expense, their lease expense. Alas I could not find this information. Is it there and I am missing it? I just saw some generic numbers on military/social/research spending as well as their treasury balance. ~SDC~
how do you get AMM? I've never seen them come up. ~SDC~
the drengin will be unleashed upon all keygen users. ~SDC~
yeah but they only get the bonus while the little trade ship is in the sector with the starbase. But I often send all my traderoutes out from a single system then I load that sector up with bases so that all my traderoutes benefit from the same set of bases. ~SDC~
i really like the idea of starbase bonuses accumulating over time so when you first build it, the bonus is a smidge, but over the course of 1-2 years, it ramps up to full value. This would solve the culture bomb cheese-aroni. ~SDC~
yes i hate the tiny sliders. also when i click the slider arrow (or use the mousewheel) the amount changes by more than 1. Garg. I think it changes by a % of the total amount available. Annoying when I am trading a 50bc item with someone that has 5000 in the bank. The sliders are worthless in this case, since each jump is way too much. ~SDC~
why not just give maintenance to the starbases? Afterall, it is the maintenance that keeps you from having zillions of ships and all the improvements on your planets. Starbases should incure a maintenance penalty on the order of .5 per module. That prevents you from building lots of fully-loaded starbases but does not limit you if you have the income to pay for it (and thus sacrifice something else). The AI should still be taught how to deal with starbases though. ~
