Can someone please help me with a very basic modding question/problem? I was tweaking a few spells in the Core Spells file, just to adjust the stamina and mana numbers slightly. At first it worked, but when I tried to make further changes, the would not take in game, even when I restarted the game, rebooted the computer and started a new game. In game is still showing the old numbers for stamina and mana for the spells I have changed. I don't under

Thanks! That makes sense. The parenthetical "(Deactivation)" confused me, but it makes sense that step would be included in the installation. I will make sure to read the rest of the sections you mentioned before installing.
This looks pretty impressive. :) Quick question about installation. Step 2 of the installation instructions says "2. Installation (Deactivation)". I am confused about what that means. Is Step 2 is what you do when you want to deactivate your mod, or is it part of the installation and activation of the mod? Can you please clarify so I don't screw something up when I go to install. Thanks much.
How do you restart the Fallen Enchantress client? Is there more to it than just restarting the game? Cause I did restart the game and start a new game but it still did not pick up my changes until I reverted to vanilla for a "clean run". You say that's not necessary so I must be doing something wrong. Just not sure what. <span style="text-d
No, you don't have to do a "clean run". I'm going to guess that you made a backup of the original XML or the copied XML and put it in a folder inside the core installation directory. If you did so, the game would only read one file with the same name in the XML directory and its subdirectories . If you make backups, keep them out of the game's installation folder. [/quote
So, I just had a quick question about how the game uses the xml files. I edited the spells core file to reduce the stamina needed for Tame from 7 to 1. Loaded up a new game to test and it worked. Then I decided 1 was too low and I wanted to increase it to 2 and also increase mana cost from 40 to 50. So I made those changes and started a new game to test, but it still had my old changes (1 stamina, 40 mana) even on a new game. I searched the internet for an answer
The AI often cheats in a variety of ways. This is one of them.
@stevemorasch At the moment you can't disable "Conquest" victory, but that would certainly be one way to implement it if Stardock was to do it (Requiring one victory condition, but not necessarily "Conquest"). Good idea.
I did not know that. Thanks for pointing that out. Guess I never tried to disable conquest victory. It would be great if they could add th
I have played a total of about 700 hours and never experienced such a bug, of course that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Did you destroy the faction when you took the City? When the faction is destroyed, the enemy sovereign becomes a vassel, which could explain why he appeared in your City. If the enemy sovereign was already in the City or moving into it when you took over, it would put him in the City under your control if the faction were destroyed.
To add to what Joeball said, when you are building for cities, make sure to site a couple fortresses on tiles with large grain yields. I typically have a main production fortress in the forest (for the lumber mill improvements that boost production) that has 4/3/2 or 3/4/2 and is near a clay pit or a orchard/farm so I can bring that up to 4/4/2 for my main fort to build my troops. Such a fortress will grow reasonably fast and have enough production to crank out troops and
When you win a game, the game ends and the credits roll. You cannot continue the game after you satisfy one of the four victory conditions. You could do what trisha suggested when starting a game by selecting only one other faction to be in the world. Make sure you don't pick Resolyn or Yithrill or any faction whose leader is "paranoid" or they might attack you for no reason. I would also pick a faction that is aligned with you so you will be more likely to
Everybody has their own strategy. I like mages and a decently high level mage can easily take on a dragon in single combat, so I often do that and save my troops from the slaughter. If you need troops, I would not bring my best troops because a dragon can take out just about the toughest troops with one hit, so I often will use weaker troops that I don't mind loosing -- because against a fragon, you are likely to loose some troops. </
I think its a pretty darn good game. Of the six "bugs" listed in the OP, the only one I have encountered is sometimes the lairs don't clear the first time so I have to waste a move clearing them. I honestly don't think that is a big deal. If wasting a couple movements every once in a while is that much opf a problem for someone, they can always lower the difficulty. I have been steadily increasing the difficulty until I now play on Expert/Expert with epic pacin
The only way I know is to lower the resolution in the video settings. My TV supports 1080p (1920x1080)but I play in 720p so I can read the font.
Sometimes I wish there was an auto-resolve button for the game, so once you got to a certain point, you could just press it and find out if you won or not. That would solve the issue of feeling like the game is won but going through the motions just to feel like you completed the game.

Ahh, you've very welcome. I am surprised you have not gotten more response. It's not like you asked a question that has a definitive answer, like "how do I increase the power of my fireball spells" You asked for a discussion of people's opinions on a question with no inherently "Correct" answer. At the Bethesda forum where I usually hang out, you'd get get a bunch of answers to a question like this, even in the forum where they only discuss ancient game
Well, I wasn't around for those older threads so I don't mind a new discussion. I have found mages and commanders to be the most useful, especially later in the game. Assassins, Defenders and Warriors can be useful early in the game, but by later in the game, they are mostly just standing around with their hands in their pockets. Except for dragon battles, where they are less likely to be struck dumb with fear. They can be very useful afainst o
One of the things I really like about this game is that there are consequences to every decision (even inaction) and those consequences can be good or bad depending on the context and circumstances. The roads that come with economic treaties are a double edged sword, since they allow you to move around the map quicker but also allow your enemies to move around the map quicker. I am not bothered by the fact that your enemies can bypass your kingdom with a road to another ki
I disagree. Yes, the Commander who wants to be a good combat commander gets no immediate path from the path trait alone. But you'll need to level him to be good anyway (goes for all heroes), so I don't see it as such a big issue. Personally, a level 5 commander is so much more useful to me than a lvl5 anything else. By level 5 he can have road building, and administrator I, and either admin II or merchant I, whichever I n
