i have had the same issue, using a nvidia 3080 ti graphics card. 100% GPU Load. i reduced the GPU Load to now 26% with VSYNC=ON and particels, softparticels and Blooming = OFF. Antialiasing = OFF:

Each time i try to stack ships togehter, the game suddenly dies. :-)

@Frogboy, fast moves & fast battles are already active.
After more than 200 moves the game hangs. The pc works but the move is not completed. This time it was about turn 212. After that the game can be finished with "Exit Game". New start, loading last "Auto Save" and it goes on for
