Point lights are light sources that provide light evenly, like a lightbulb Bloom is a graphical effect that increases the luminosity of light sources and objects that reflect light in a game world Trails kinda blur lights If there is a transparent UI frame, Gel UI sort blurs between the non-transparent layers.

OK, here are some suggestions of settings you could try changing if resetting to defaults doesn't help: Try turning off Point Lights Try a smaller resolution. Turn off "Enable Bloom" Turn off "Trails" Turn off "Enable Gel UI"

Thanks! The crash is happening in your video driver. It looks like you have the final retail version of the driver according to the diagnostics file in the crash zip, so you probably won't be able to update it. There's a prefs.ini file in your My Games\GalCiv4 folder. Try renaming that so that the game will recreate it with the default settings and see if you can get into a game using that. I'll also ask one of the graphics engineers if they have any suggestions

Hi, I've been assigned to look into this. There's nothing obvious in the debug.err file to indicate why you're crashing, so if we can get a crash report, that will help us to fix this issue. You should have a hidden folder C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations IV - Supernova (or whatever drive Windows is installed to) which may contain a crash dump if it's still saving the file even if it's not popping up the dialog. The last thing reported in the d

As far as I can tell at the moment, this is not so much a stuck turn as the fact that the game is choking the AI planning threads. I noticed that there are LOT of resources in this game, more than I thought was possible to achieve with the settings. Did you mod the game to get that many? The AI planning threads are getting stuck trying to update all its starbase plans to find the perfect position to get as many resources in its AOE as possible. I'm still working on a solution.

The ship range is how far you can travel from one of your planets or starbases. There's a faint outline of where your ship can move when you select it if you zoom out far enough to see it. Probes have unlimited range, but if you click on your colony ship or survey ship, you should see the lines change.

Sounds more like it was a stuck turn, since you were able to save the game. However, since it was following a battle, I suspect that it was a bug that we've seen before, but rarely, where the battle animations don't end and take too long to timeout. We're working on decreasing the timeout, but it has to go through QA before we can put it out in an update.

You will find this helpful if you are making xml mods for GC3/4: https://www.w3schools.com/xml/schema_intro.asp For your example, it would look like this (you have to add all the existing values even the ones that you don't have to change, because I don't currently have a way to make it ignore the minOccurs field for this type): <ModifyDat

Note that all xml data needs to correspond to the folder structure where the existing data is, or it won't be used. As in GC3, if you only want to add new items, you need to create a unique filename and then just add the new xml objects. Also as in GC3, you can replace an entire file (like for total conversions) by creating a file with the same name in the same relative folder structure. If you want to modify just one item, you can add a ModDataDefList (see Modify
I have a stuck turn in a new game with version 0.60.208431a that is repeatable. It is the type of stuck turn that can be "fixed" by going to the main menu and opening the Victory Status.
Thanks! I was able to fix this. The AI was trying to send a ship to defend a planet that already had its orbit slots filled.

I fixed a bunch of stuck turn bugs that were in 0.55 so you may want to switch to 0.6. If you can give me a save game with detailed instructions on how to reproduce the stuck turn caused by ships ejecting in 0.6, please do so. I was unable to reproduce that variant of the stuck turn bug here.

OK, so apparently it's just me having trouble downloading save files from Google Drive. One of our community managers was able to download it and send it to me. I loaded and tested with it, and was unable to reproduce the stuck turn, so it's one of the bugs that I've fixed here.

Can you please zip the file and then share the link? Google Drive does weird things when you share our save files directly because it recognizes them as zip files.

Save games are in your use folder, under My Games\GalCiv4\Saves. Please zip and upload to some kind of cloud storage that you can send us a link to.
