i useually have around 70 normal frigates,20 cruiser carriers, and some far-distance attackers to fight for me along with around 1 carrier, 2 battleships,and 1 planet-go-boom ships(al lcap) when i have a huge fleet so it takes a while for them to knock each other out even though there might be more ships agianst me.

i useally place a defence platform beside 2 hangers and a repiar platform, ad have about 5 of each on planets that could b attacked from 1 planet away and on my home planet.

i pretty much dont even upgrade them, small or big map, intill i beat everyone and just make my culture high,get a crap-load of cap-ships and frigates and cruisers and just play around.when i research everything

and i agree. if the pirates had cap-ships that would be freaking awsome(and hard)at the same time, but,BUT, keep in mind the pirates ships have no sheilds so it wont be as hard as fighting the tec or something who have sheilds...

advent-carrier.mostly becuese it looks awsome, can hold strikecraft,and i like its lvl 6 abillity(which i cant remember at the moment) tec-KOL battleship. it looks cool and i pretty much hate the tec people. alien dudes-planet bomber.its barrge abillity is pretty cool if thats the one that holds barrage...
