*slow refresh rate. I still don't see how that makes it different from a hack...I guess I'm just stupid. Microsoft patches it's own OS, anyone doing anything else is a different matter....Sorry, but I don't get it, Jeff. You're turning off the check procedure...that's not a hack?
Seriously call it whatever you want. Patch, hack. I really don't care. Just don't tell me its unstable and not safe. Because I kno
1. Yes to #160, because it was in the same response, Jeff. 2. I still don't understand, and you still haven't explained what msstyles does and how it does it.
Okay well you got me there. I don't even know how to respond to #1. #2. .Msstyles aka Microsoft Visual Styles are Microsoft's native themes... Luna. Olive. Etc. In order for an .Msstyles to be applied it has to be digitially signed by Microsoft

You're talking about the smiley face comment? You have it in bold. What in the world does that have to do with you? Did you create the site's emoticons? That's a real question by the way. I was talking to everyone reading and you when i spoke about our patch. There are definitely limitations when creating themes with msstyles. I don't think anyone will argue that point. But having the patch break? Is a non-issue. I speak from experience of using Hyperdesk for we
Doc: Just to clarify things here. Given that the msstyles patch is fairly generic and therefore would not have a dedicated customer support area, I said that it may have been TGTSoft who failed your friend regarding customer support.... given that many of its customers, even before it closed its doors, were complaining about the lack of support, etc. @starkers You were correct...it was stylexp. I still have a problem with the

Well I can tell you that's how its always been with me and the skinning community. To tell you how ridiculous its been over the years... I once posted a news post to WC about the seals being clubbed to death and it ended up being a huge flame thread. I was just trying to bring something i felt was terribly wrong and it ended up becoming this huge battle. Anyone remember that one?
Starkers: You wouldn't even know Hyperdesk is running if you unchecked the theme button. Once you close the app itself this is how much memory you use: Thanks for the info, Jeff, it sounds like an interesting alternative and/or companion to my current customisation apps. When finances are a bit better I will look into HyperDesk... cos I'm open minded and it'd open the door to those themes I've been admiring from afar. A

Can I guess who this thread's about? I don't see anything wrong with remembering other times. Especially since Brad was one of the founders of Windows skinning and my company helped bring skinning to the mainstream. Some of our Windows Media Player skins shipped with the player and were placed on well over 300 million Windows computers. I think I've earned the right to bring up old times. If you feel threatened that's on you. No one's taking "today" away from you by talking ab

Nimbin: I wasn't even referring to you when i said that. Paranoid much? Messiah: One's enough thanks. About Fathom: Last time i heard about him he was managing a kinkos. He stayed with me for a weekend when he came down for a drum and bass show. About Hyperdesk and threads: We could always just skip new topics and everytime someone posts a new forum topic we just launch into a rendition of the "good old days".

I would have to get "de-exiled" first. I'm not posting under this noob account :) I'd have to talk to Brad about the split. i think they split it 50/50 which means i wouldn't do any 3rd party licensed themes since i have to give the 3rd party a cut. They would be priced the same anyway so whether you bought it here or at our place the price would still be the same and every theme comes with the software to use it so you don't need anything else - except yahoo! Widgets which is free. S

Here's a Windows Media Player 7 skin also done for me back in 1999 by Bronze. This is 10 years old and still looks better than 95% of the skins being produced today for WMP: This is how you can tell a good artist. There is no alpha transparency but he did such a good job you can hardly see any jagged edges on the side pieces.

Miriku kicked it up. There was one time with Brad and I that I remember. I think Treetog was involved too. Some interesting old school links for Shoggot. http://www.teknidermy.com/issue/1/shoginterview.html http://customize.org/Shoggot http://shoggot.deviantart.com/ Legends never die they just end up in forums as fodder.
Spill it Jafo. I don't remember what the deal with the rabbit was. Shog posted this back in 2000 ....I always remembered it as it relates to skins/art and moderation/opinion... A parable: A shogun commissions an artist to make for him an ink drawing of a rooster. The artist agrees to the price, states that it will take 20 years to produce the perfect rooster, and that he will return. 20 years pass

Yeh it was him, Bakerstreet, Shoggot, Shoggot's love monkey... 10c I ended up working with the best at some point back then. iST, Precurser, $teven, Vindicator, and a few others. Roman and Lowen are from the k-jofol days. Both were Groomsmen at my wedding. I worked with misery. A few really good Sonique skinners who i can't remember their names.
