I find the animation when you open the start menu a little annoying.. silly little green recycle logos that fly down.. other than that the whole thing is tops!

People, please research your topics before you lambast an entire counry and its political/legal system without knowing any let alone all of the facts.. This is an incredibly complex issue that has a simple solution that is unfortunately being impeded by one man in a position of power that considers himself to be 'the childrens' saviour.. because remember games are for kids :p The OFLC wants an R18+ game rating, the State Governments want an R18+ rating for games, but due to the
I don't believe it's supported under 64-bit.. Though it also doesn't run for me, however, and I am running Vista Business 32-bit.. Whenever I try to run it, the program just crashes out with a Generic 'Logon Studio has stopped working' error :( I don't even get as much information as above.
The DRM is still there.. it's still on the disc - it's only the limit on the amount of active installs you may have that's been removed.. The game still has the potential to not install on some machines etc. etc.
Stardock has stated that a fantasy turn-based strategy game "not-MoM" (working title ) is next on their to-do list. I think pre-production has started. (we've seen some concept art pictures)P.S. MoM = Master of Magic, a classic fantasy turn-based strategy game from the makers of Master of Orion, in much the same mold. I think it came out between MoO1 and MoO2. Google it, it's certain to have at least a nice wiki entry and some gushing fan pages.
I look forward to hearing
Will a demo be available for this. I have to admit my interest is piqued, but not being a fan of politics, and even less of a fan of us politics, I need to be semi-sure that I'd enjoy it ;) (Though with the awesomeness of the blogging/community features here on Impulse.. I'm this close to buying it purely out of goodwill). By the way - I almost bought GalCiv2 and SoaSE purely based on one of my mates at work raving about them.. Unfortunately I'm more of a fantasy gamer.. Any plans for
So far the only thing we can do to get around region locking is ask someone from the US to buy it and gift the software to us.
You know I hadn't even considered that! You my good man are a genius :D Though - what happens when someone trys to gift an item to someone where that item isn't available? Does Steam prevent that? Would Impulse prevent that? It's pretty clear that my take on the subject is that it shouldn't! Now
This post makes me dream of the day when graphics hit the ceiling, because on that day gameplay, story, and art design will be prosper !!!Couldn't agree more bro
Have to third this one. Graphics don't necessarily have to be teh awesome.. I think consistancy is much more important. If it's fairly low tech but fits in with the overall style of the game, then it often benefits the game more from a piece of art point of view. Unfortuna
Try not to shoot the good guys.
I should take this spot to say that not all this is directed at stardock ;) Region locking in general is the issue here. I probably shouldn't have led in straight away with the Impulse example, but hell, these are the impulse community pages are they not? I appreciate the work that Stardock does, and having tried Impulse, I've played around with the free trial of Mycolours and the Object Dock
We place no restrictions on where you can use it, just as you could buy a program in India and then bring it over to the USA and use it.The typical reason for this in the PC market is that the exclusive rights to sell a program in a particular market have already been sold to another company. If the developers say "well, we can only give you the right to sell this product in X, because publisher Y has all the rights in Europe", we have to abide by that. [/
Cheers for the comment Bebi. Stardock have everything do do with it - they could not allow it. Granted the publishers might ignore Impulse for a while but it feels to me like Stardock have thrown out the baby with the bath water. While attempting to make a platform that is open and accessible to all they've also introduced the capability for preventing that to happen in order to appeal to the big publishers. It's the big publishers that need to come around - and now thanks to
Say no to Region Locking. (Full Article Coming Soon) Quick Summary - For a service designed to promote software 'freedoms', Impulse enforcing region lockouts is introucing a concept otherwise never existing in a PC environment (other than Microsofts Vista Anywhere Update - which is not available outside the US/Canada, and parts of Europe and annoys me no end because I want to upgrade to Vista Ultimate... but.. can't!), and Steam (the big publishers prevent sale of some ga
I'm not seeing the nvidia tab either!? Is this only for specific markets? I'm in Australia.. I have to say the main annoyance that I have with digital distribution systems like Impulse (for example Steam) is that they restrict releases based on region in order to maintain archaic pricing protection.. It is my belief that someone selling a product for $30 in the US should be happy to sell it for $30 USD in the rest of the world..
