I'd reckon it would be nice if it worked that way... No big problem for me, I just move the scout ships over into a corner away from my rally points and where my ships gather. I can see where some folks would want scout ships included with their fleets and/or groups of ships when playing multiple star systems. Regards, WC

psugar raises some good points. Your installed version of DirectX may be earlier than the one required for SoaSE. This would definitely affect the cursor video problem you are having. I'm only guessing here, however, sre you using transparencies on your desktop at all? If so I'd recommend that you disable them to see if this solves your problem in this game. Also, this can be a problem with decreased (video) hardware acceleration - I'd suggest you try turning that up to max.
nice point of contention there bonscott... I agree 100 percent. Easy solutions are always the best ones. :) WC
If you made those maps in v1.03, they won't work in v1.04... sorry, but apparently that's "working as intended" Best Regards, WC
Greetings all! It would seem interesting that if you had (say) two capital ship crews in reserve, your tax rate would lower itself by some reasonable amount. If you were at the 38 percent (whatever) tax level, and after two of your capital ships were destroyed, that you found yourself at the 35 percent (whatever) tax level... Just a thought Regards, WC
I absolutely agree with the above two posters. In that kind of situation, you need friends now... not later. Hopefully, your new found friend is your next door neighbor. You can wait a while before you tell him his cat is digging up your precious tulip garden. :) Regards, WC
Actually that wont do. What we need is an in-game clock so that one can work out how much "in-game" time has gone by.
Interesting thought. :) However, it would seem that in the spirit of all the various management goals that need to be watched during the game, "Time Management" would be just an added factor. If you need to watch the time, a $5.00 cheapie stick on clock placed on or near your monitor would seem to work well. :D And also,
512MB DDR RAM
Just as a thought... the amount of RAM you have does seem to be a bit on the low side, even for running basic WinXP. I'd suggest either adding more, or changing your RAM for a total of at least 1 Gb. Your machine may be spending all it's time swapping pieces of the game between the disk and memory trying to keep up with you. Regards, WC
I finally got my custom avatar working by reducing the image to 50x50 pixels. My original version was about 4 times that and I kept getting "Bad Request" or something like that. On my profile, there is two places to put your avatar... with it not being totally clear which one is for the forums, I put mine in both places... I also noted that it wasn't an instant thing to have it start showing... after a while it started showing. Regards, WC Build
Greetings... If you are talking about Fleet Logistics where you get more capital ships and fleet points, then yes, you can research those independently of either Military or Civilian Tech Tree items. Regards, WC
I'm highly amused by this post from the OP... "If it doesn't work like I think it should" then it must be broken for everyone. Well innociv, you most definitely and explicitly posted your suggestions. A wonderful effort indeed... well worded, intelligently typed, and way way too many personal statistics from your personal experiences involving the game. I've read your many posts throughout the forum. A LOT of them are informative, useful, and even making me say "
Thank you very much Blair Fraser :) Best Regards, WC

Out of curiosity, have you tried reducing the Sins in game video options? I've seen where some video cards end up (in some situations) trying to access memory outside of what Windows expects, and this causes Windows to shut down. Although it seems significant that none of your other games crash your computer, it's difficult to compare games when looking at the actual demands put on your video card and drivers... Regards, WC
Yay!! My Collector's Edition arrived today... Lots of very cool stuff inside too. Thanks a million! (Although I see that you made $5.10(USD) on the shipping charges. Guess I can live with that, beings as Melissa and Kim probably deserve the tip) :) 6.5 days from online order and download to receipt of the actual little brown box here in southern Louisiana. Not bad. Wonderful game, and well worth the time taken to get to (and figure out) the Noobie Levels. <
I've got a Radeon 9200... and it works fine with all the default graphics settings. Which I believe all default to maximum. I've been playing for a week now, and have seen no difficulties at all. Regards WC
I would think something (that others have touched on) is that you need to be able to multitask in this game. For example, when you get into a fight, don't micromanage the fight, try not to watch the fight (even though they are fun to watch)... instead go improve a planet or scout out a planet you've not been to, or build some more ships. The AI in this game fights well - both for you and the baddies. Don't click several things to research or build and then sit around a

doh :)
Greetings all.... I've kind of searched around the forums, and I can't seem to find how you get more fleet supply points. I'm pretty sure (being a noob and all) that this has to do with some form of research, but I've not got a clue how I can make my current 7 fleet supply point amount be a bigger number. Can someone kinda point me in the general direction of that please? Best Regards, WC
