I do have the "throttle frame rate" box checked. I still do find it rather hard to believe my video card is overheating in some way, seeing how this game isn't really even taxing to my system. I am also rather reluctant to go and spend $150 I don't have to go and get a new one.

A likely culprit, but I do have one bit of information that kind of throws that off. The first time that crash ever occured, it knocked out my wireless network (a better word would be more along the lines of scrambled). I later had to go in and completely restart it. That has not happened since, and if anything this crash has only been getting less and less powerful over time, though still appearing, and just as frequently. I'm no hardware expert in the slightest, but I find it diffic

Except that this never occurs running any other game (or program). Even Crysis runs smoothly on high settings, and I never enocunter anything like this. But I'll check it out.

This is not the first time this kind of carsh has happened for me, but it always used to happen when I was using WMP while playing GalCiv. I figured it was related to running the two simultaneously, so I just figured it a minor inconvenience. This is the frist time it has ever happened without WMP playing. It always happens some time into a game, and never at a specific time. Sometimes it occurs within three turns of starting up (as in this time), or sometimes two or three hours later

In terms of lengthening gameplay, I think decreasing the need of rush expanding (IE your empire's standing is based entirely on your military and land area), and new empires rising on their own throughout the world, whether through rebellions, or in a leader arising in unclaimed regions. Just a thought.

The only true obejction I have to the art right now is the foliage. It looks like it was done in paint, with the exception of the pine trees (my apologies to whoever spent their time making it). Same thing with the rocks and boulders. They look incredbily flat and two dimensional, with little tecture. However, as it is early in development, and I have not even seen the game in motion, I can't say any of this for sure.

The game lists technology as one of the major pieces of the strategy. What I want to know is how far could it be advanced? Can it be taken as far as gunpowder, steam and machinery? Or just to the edges of what is traditionaly considered fantasy?

I would like a game where sheer size and population don't govern strength, much less another empire's likelyhood to attack you. One of the main reasons for a land rush is fear that somebody else will get those super useful reources, and the more land you have, the stronger you are.

The game concept looks very good, and knowing Stardock, I have no doubt that expanding upon it will be no doubt be a simple matter, making new conent come in nearly endless streams from the user base. My chief concern however are the graphics. They come across to me as being a bit cartoonish, or overly stylized and almost 2 dimensional (though through inspection of screenshots, I can tell that they are not). However, it is still extremely early in development, and you h

Most of my work was lost with my last hard drive. However, a few minor little things I was toying with survived on photobucket. I'll see if I can find them. I would be willing to learn how to texture. Odds are though, I can only work on this a bit, with my schedule as it is until november.

Hey guys! I just saw this post, and I thought it would be an interesting thing to work with. I can model pretty well, assuming it's only ships. Texturing I suck at. Modding is something I am familiar with. Any need for me?

We have all seen in almost everything relating to bugs in GC2 some reference to updating your drivers. And, often, we don't think much of it. I know I didn't. Then I built my new computer. I put in the graphics card (An nVidia 9800 GT), installed the drivers that came with it, and thought I was set. Then, in the midst of a game (which I was winning), my computer froze, and crashed. The result was that my wireless network was completely blown, and a CD I was using to move some files around was ac

True, there are better things to do than play video games. But there are also better things you could be doing that watch TV, read books, talk for hours with a friend (on a phone or not). Also, people need relaxing time. If a person has no time to relax and relieve some tension, the result may be worse than if they spent more time than they should doing that. If an animal is scared, but is not allowed to shake or whimper or anything, they die. Read it, the research has been done. Of co

My system meets all of the minimum requirements (and in quite a few cases, exceeds). The only thing I am worried about is my graphics card, which is a bit old. It has 128mb, but when things start getting into the area of vertex/pixel shader 2.0, my system can't do it. So my question is this: Does the card need to be able to run those kinds of things (like most new games), or can it work without that, like GC2? Also, is there a demo anywere?

In current technological state, we could achieve mars terraforming. However, our infrastructure just cannot support such a venture. It would take several centuries to achieve the massive amount of resources needed to do it. By that time, technology would have changed so drastically, we might have the ability to simply create artificial gravity, build machines which can artifically create magnetic field (the primary problem with the likelihood of that is energy requirements. Fusion or something s

[quote]I say "only" in a comparative sense. But if you build your computer from scratch, it can cost as little as £600 to get a very reasonable gaming PC, or £400 for a reasonable midrange PC or £300 if you just want it to play the latest games with a few settings on. I'd go to a hardware forum if you are going to take this path and have little experiance though. Oh, the most important thing it to have a good graphics card. Second is a cheep set of 2X1GB of RAM. Third is th

I was thinking about this earlier. The costs of upgrading a class of ships is madly expensive. Unless you're well into the game (some four to six years, depending... at least in my case  ) it is really hard to upgrade ships. My solution is I don't make a new class of ship until I have maxed out a tier of defense or offense. So let's say I'm researching plasma weapons. The next class won't be built until I have the top end of Plasma, and so on with everything else. To expensive otherwise. I
