I ordered Endless Universe off of Amazon.com, Amazon themselves don't sell it but they do have some US vendors listed that do, mostly smaller, independently owned gaming stores it looked like. I ordered it and it just came in the mail yesterday. I don't have access to internet right now other than at work, and even here most gaming websites like galciv2.com are blocked(but stardock.com isn't, hehe), so I'm quite pleased that I was able to get it.

I think you nailed it, I did colonize the Class 12 planet with the initial colony ship, and I did not fill it, I didnt even know it didnt start with max pop on it. I've never re filled the initial colony ship in my games before. Now it makes sense, thank you for that, and now I've learned something new.
I know the reply is a little late, but here goes. US Army, Satellite Communications Operator/Maintainer, 2003 to Present(my contract ends in August 2009). Currently in Iraq since December 2007, I go home at the end of February. Been playing GalCiv2 of and on, helps the time go by quicker. Just getting back into it again.
I would love to live in the futuristic Earth as illustrated in the movie "Blade Runner." Its just gorgeous, although may get depressing after a while.
I had a question regarding population growth. I was under the assumption that I had a pretty good grasp on how it works, but something had happened in the game I am playing now that I thought was odd. During the initial colonization phase, the first planet I colonised was a Class 12. It was the best one I could find. Other planets I colonised later were a Class 6, and the Class 4 that starts in your home system. Throughout the growth of these planets, I found i
I had a similar issue installing the game on my laptop, it would stop at a certain percentage of the install, was always the same percentage. I copied the cds to an external hard drive and installed it from there, and it worked fine, so try copying the disks to your hard drive and running the installer from there.
Yeah, relations have to be close, and they also need to have the alliance tech. If they don't have it, just give it to them, then you should be able to ally.
I like to mod the text dialogue, the Drengin are a bit foul mouthed in mine. I do somewhat agree about the character graphics, some of them do seem cheesy, especially the Terrans. Although MOO3 was a complete failure, I do think they had cooler race graphics and diplomacy videos.
For me it will last a very long time, games of this genre always do. Before GalCiv2, I still played MOO2, and still do from time to time, and that game came out around 10 years ago I think. I still also play Civilization 2, more because I'm too lazy to get the newer ones lol, but the point is I still enjoy playing it. I see GalCiv2 in my gaming life for many many years to come.
Everquest 2 is better.
I'm not sure where this belongs, so I'll put it here in the off topic one. I just started playing GalCiv2 again after a long break from it, and I've never been active on the forums before. I really just want to congratulate and thank the developers for making such a great game that completely fits everything I've ever wanted in a single player TBS game experience. I think the reason I'm so ecstatic about it right now, is I'm currently deployed in Iraq, and since I finally
