Some thoughts playing 1.03 with a custom civ, some already mentioned: Never got any of the prototype ships even though some like the Praxis were awarded over 20 times, got all the Retribution pieces and had the dialog saying it was available but never showed up at shipyard. When deleting improvements on a captured world, a black dialog box shows up and obscures part of the page until you click somewhere outside of it Had massive amounts of Thulium and Promethion, over

I can now confirm after 3 games that it happens for all research picks involving drones, at least in my set up. I pick an option where a dialog box shows up asking if I want to spend the cost in drones but unfortunately the dialog box shows up behind the research page so I cannot click ok and the "Done" button is not available leaving me stuck on the page until I pick another choice.

When picking the research option Collector Drones, the dialog asking if you agree to spend one drone to pick it shows up behind the research page so you cannot proceed. You have to pick another option click "Done" then the page switches and the option dialog shows up. Going back lets you pick the Collector Drone option properly

Here is the PlanetDefs.xml showing the copied earth entry and pasted/changed to my Terra entry again to edit the homeworld, I just posted the relevant entries all others were truncated but they are unmodified. The tricky part are the star system entries, it is not hard just tedious if you want several planets in your system on top of the homeworld, each entry needs to be coordinated between the defs and the text files. As I mentioned I just used the sol system files and renamed them, Mars bec

It is not as easy as editing 1 file. You need to edit the following files: StarSystemText.xml and PlanetText.xml placing them in the Mods/text directory PlanetDefs.xml and StarSystemDefs.xml placing them in the Mods/Gameplay directory Look for these files in the Epic Games\Games\GCIV\Data folder under the text and gameplay folders, copy those to your mod directory. Use the entries for the sol system as your template and modify them to your liking, careful with "earth"

Here is what a ModUnitPortraits.xml file in the mod directory, text folder looks like. I have 75 entries in each but cut it down for posting. These refer to your 128x128 pngs in the citizens folder or GFX folder, not sure which works so I used both. xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="../../Schema/FlavorText.xsd"><

impinc, I am not sure why it is not working, my first tries were hit and miss too and I just decided to cut out the “human” entries of the relevant files and use those as my template. For my custom system I used the “SolSystem” files and modded those entries to my “Terra” system including a precursor capital where Artemis is, I like to even the odds a bit on godlike LOL What kept tripping me up is the entry for “earth” specifies a specific graph

Honestly, I just proceeded with the assumption that xml modding would work the same as in GC3 with the caveat of different files since it is a new game. I looked into the data folder at all the files, took a while :-), and then made my mods as if I was using the GC3 system. The only difference are the portrait themselves, since I was not sure the "faction" folder in the "my games" directory was ready to use, I just dropped the files there and in the GFX folder. I also created a

The best examples are in the Epic Games\Games\GCIV\Data folder, look into the Gameplay folder for the UnitRaceDefs.xml file and in the English\text folder for the text files. Use those as a guide and create your own by using the relevant portions (append method) to put into the mod folder. The game is very moddable and if you make a mistake on startup it will tell you where the error is. H

Here are the files you need in the mod\gameplay folder: ModUnitRaceDefs.xml to create your custom race and assign portraits to your advisors In mod\text you need: ModUnitNamesText.xml to create the names of your citizens and leaders ModUnitPortraitsText.xml to assign and tell the game which portrait to use ModUnitRaceText.xml to put in the description of your custom race Create a folder with the name of your race(faction) and put

Maybe this has been asked but could not find it, will we get a map designer like we have in GalCiv 3? I like making my own maps with custom starting planets, anomalies and resources and this new sector style would be a ton of fun to play with. Thanks
