Accuracy of group units (multiple units in a stack) is calculated separately. So basically, if you get a group of 7 archers shooting at you, they get to roll hit 7 times, this means you won't see them "miss" very often. However, when those units roll a "miss", they don't contribute their share of the damage. In example: A group of 7 archers, who would do 10 damage each (to make it simple), 5 of which "misses"... the game will still

I just went back and looked again, and I realized I did not count the added ranged dodge from the shield my champion was using, so it is even "worse". I just reloaded an autosave and fought 3 different battles and the AI archers did not miss once in 3 fights. And for clarification, the AI player was hitting 100% with both trained archers and the default defense ones, so it looks an awful lot like a not-quite-working mechanic to me.

Howdy Folks, I have played the game through a good many times on various setting and I am all but convinced that ranged defense is not working. As often happens, when attacking AI opponents, all of their archers key on a single target, and light it up. And that would be manageable, if defenses were working, but by late game, the AI has 4-5 archers in each group, and the defenses do not seem to be doing anything. In my latest game, I had a champion with 36 base arm

Just to add my 2 cents, I have never bought a DLC in any game thus far, that was worth the money. Add the maps to the expansion and raise the price, if you must, but extra cash for maps that many other people are producing for free, does not seem to be worth it.

I have had similar errors a number of times. Only solution is to auto-resolve what is left or punch out of the game and try to reload, which is also severe problem if you have the "trying to reload a mid-late game save crashes the game client" bug as I and a few others seem to.

I don't mind the imbue mechanic as much as I mind having champions skill choices always be loaded up with "magic" skills when the champion has even one magic school skill and you never have any intention of using him/her as a caster. I would suggest both having some way to de-select or drop a magic school from a champion AND adding in a LOT more champion choices for non-magic combat. As many as there are, and it is good that there are, inevitably you end up running out of good one

Same, it was disappointing. The NPC obviously had his equipment for the fight itself, but immediately after he turned into a lvl 1 with no equipment and without the ability to trade him any. The next game I just killed him and continued on.

I had and continue to have the same problem. Past a certain number of turns or too large an empire, and any reload of a save crashes the game client. This is a doubly serious problem because I still get the occasional crash during/after combat or the game occasionally gets stuck in a loop sometimes or otherwise does not respond. If the autosave is not working after this, the game is essentially over. I am running a dual core desktop system, with win7-64 if that helps.

I am having this same problem. I am crashing on the attempted load of any save, manual or autosave, and these were from the saves after the .77 patch. Win7-64, if that makes a difference.

Let me start off by saying I am a fan of Stardock and the products they put out. And while FE is stylistically somewhat better than EWOM, the endgame and gameplay still lacks a bit of flavor once the intial exploration phase is over. Having played several complete games on small, med, and large worlds, it always comes down to the same thing: build up a single strong group, a couple cities, and just grind away. There are few surprises that come your way. And while things like the champ

The other thing that is present in other Stardock games, but totally absent in Elemental is random events. They were heavily present in the GC2 series and added a lot to the replayability of those games. Could be empire wide, affect a city, a hero, what have you. Instead, we have the slog through spell and advancements with some treasure chests and quests thrown in. Yeah, we get the occasional message about some beastie getting released into the wild, not such a big deal with all the other be
In each game I have played so far, I have always had 4 offspring. And I seem to notice the AI players getting the same. were you expecting 2.5 kids?
A little randomness could also flavor the strategy a bit. Maybe 2 in one game, 6 in the next, or 1 or none on the off chance. And the AI should get the same, instead of always getting 4 each time, every time.

If anything, the AI is so lacking that I find the game too easy. I have won by conquest on the hardest difficulty setting, and even there, a couple of the AI kingdoms never expanded beyond their initial city. Winning by quest and spell is doable on almost every game.
I'm a little surprised it got a 6.5 from users. They tend to be a little more overly critical.
Well, when I looked earlier, there were 5 "10" ratings on the front page, which is why I called those out in the eariler post in this thread. There is no way anyone can call this game a "10" and have any credibility whatsoever. If you take those and a few other obviously overinflated ratings out of the picture, and you ge

In each game I have played so far, I have always had 4 offspring. And I seem to notice the AI players getting the same. Also, one of the bugs mentioned before was that the AI players seem to get married on the first turn and start cranking kids out right away, while the player can't do that. Since offspring need a good while before they become playable, this would be a significant edge, if the AI was actually working correctly (which it mostly isn't).
On Gamespot, the user reviews probably draw more weight, especially if a lot of users review it. Those are at a 6.3, with only 380 reviews. Everyone may want to chime in.
And say what? Most of the criticisms people have are by and large legitimate. What is not helping anyone are the people leaving reviews on that site that are both perfect "10s" which this game clearly is not (and there are several o

Yes, it seems to happen with 10 or more units on either side. One of the factors involved is the terrain grid "square" where combat is initiated. When that square is forrest or swamp, and there are trees/rocks taking up space on the battlefield, I tend to see the placement bugs more often.

To echo what the others were saying, I also get the error, also running win7/64 w 8gigs and an ATI card. Happens more or less 1-2 hours into a play session, but half the time I get another crash before then from other bugs....

I think in general, hero abilities really need to be looked at. First, several heroes' preported abilities do not work some/most of the time. Royalty and farmers, at least in my case, perhaps others. The different types of researchers seem to work, but others, not so much. Second, besides combat stats, heroes' bonus stats never increase when they advance (ala M.o.M). As these heroes progress, they become realtively useless as compared to mid and late game squads, so, aside fro

I have had this issue as well, I half believe it is related to the memory leak or related problem, because after I lose sound, the turns take longer and longer to cycle, until an inevitable crash/lock-up. Maybe related, maybe not.

I have been a long time customer of Stardock and was pretty happy until now. I bought Elemental purely on Stardock's reputation after briefly reading the description. Maybe I am having more problems than most, but playing on a Win 7/64 (modern) system I am crashing so much, if it doesn't make the game unplayable, it makes me not want to play it. This is not a small thing, and based on some posts in the support forum, some people are having a worse time of it than me. Plus ther
