Best catch the AI while the game is as complex as possible and screw up it's progarm. I think this is probably the startegy [sic] of most of the players winning at high difficulty levels. I doubt it. I don't see the AI doing anything incredible at Intelligent level. It just sits there. It probably sits there at higher levels too, if the "rand

AI is too passive with 1.1. I'll try the medium maps. First game was on Normal, all else were on Intelligent. AI sits there. I even changed every race's loyalty to 200. They still build embassies--many embassies. When losing the AIs Embassy build themselves to death. Does the AI even know that I have all victory conditions off, so it is conquest by default? So they HAVE to attack me/other races AND beat them to win. AI just sits there. I play Scattered Clusters/ Rare Habitable Planets/Uncommon
...in an attempt to see if the AI will cease to "embassy build' self destruct. Since the Yor start with 100 loyalty I decided to give them 20% to Social, a bit to morale and ship repair... a few things here and there. However they are now "red" in abilities catagory and are 3 points over the allowed limit (-3). It seems I can still play them as a race. Will there be any problems, outside that they are pretty strong? Thanks.
What about changing every races Loyalty to 100, like the Yor. Wouldn't that fix the influence problem?
I know at "intelligent" the AI plays as well as it can but gets no bonuses. I've looked around and I haven't found what bonuses it gets for the several levels above that. I know one is economical. Does anyone know the % and what the "above intelligent" bonuses are? Thanks in advance.
Yes, I thought the AI was a bit passive. I'll have to not ally and just bear the assault if they do attack... otherwise it seems I can rather easily buy/bribe my way to victory (so it seems so far--I may find out otherwise later, lol). No, I had all modes of victory disabled, so conquest is "it" by default. It's possible that the victory conditions changed when I saved and turned off my PC. I'm not in a position to make any guesses on how possible that is. I do have a somewhat out of
How to get a post of mine to appear anywhere other than "my posts" is beyond me. However, thank you for the answer. Yes, I did it through the SDC and used the SDC patcher. It's really 1.1.0027 or somthing like that. I'll tell you, I'm playing a custom economic race and I don't know why the Yor did not attack me. I'm glad they didn't. In general I notice that war is not something the AI takes lightly (intelligent level). The thing is, I had/have only conquest victory enabled, so perhap
Second attempt to post and be visible-pardon. I uninstalled/reinstalled my game and Stardock Central (after uninstalling through control panel/add remove programs and deleting whatever was left over). I downloaded 1.0X then the program which edits your registry to get the bonus content from the Stardock site. Then I upgraded to 1.1 through Stardock Central. Did I have to do all that, or does 1.1 contain the bonus content and 1.0X as well? Perhaps I should just un

I've had what may be your problem if we both mean the same thing by "it won't open". They game appears to be "not responding" when installing. I waited 20-30 seconds, the install seemed to be hanging and alt-cntrl-del said the game was not responding. I think you can ignore that message (if you by chance hit alt-cntrl-del to see what's up). Just sit tight for 2-3 minutes, the game is indeed loading, at least that's how it went for me. Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks for replying. I'm surprised you all found my post, I wasn't able to, lol. I reposted under the bugs forum under a post called "problems with textures" or some such. Anyway they said drivers there too. Here was my response. And btw, thanks for responding. " I doubt it's the video driver, though you may be right. This particular driver runs all my games without the need to constantly change drivers And the game ran troublefree for
It's possible I may have seen a bit of the European bug in my US version. As my earlier posts state I had almost identical problems. Here's an interesting bug I saw before the textures went out a day later (all still works okay after my reinstall, btw): I was changing stats/abilities on my custom character a few times. I started a new game and behold, I had the new character in an older saved game??? Looks like some data went where it wasn't
I doubt it's the video driver, though you may be right. This particular driver runs all my games without the need to constantly change drivers And the game ran troublefree for two days. I just saved GalCiv2 as GalCiv2.bak in the My Documents\My Games files. Uninstalled everything using control panel then uninstalled what was left manually, including
I'm posting this here because everything I post goes into the "my posts" screen. As an aside, can anyone tell me how to create a new post on the bug forum? I have bug forum selected but it never shows up. Thanks I keep trying to post, but it won't post, lol. What's up? I posted before, but obviously something went wrong, so I'll make this brief. All my posts go to "my posts" instead of the bugs forum. Any ideas? Thanks.
I keep trying to post, but it won't post, lol. What's up? I posted before, but obviously something went wrong, so I'll make this brief. The textures were fine for 2 days. Yes, I turned my PC off at night. On the 3rd day the planets became white circles, suns were still okay, and ships were blue bubbles. I'm in the US so US fix doesn't apply to me. I have the 1.0X and the"enable the options which should have been enabled anyway" patches. My question is

Lol, you know, when you no longer have the problem, it would be nice of you to post what solved the problem. I never had a texture problem. I turned off anti-aliasing to fix stutter. I'm in US so my version of Windows is the US English version by default. I played the first day, no problems. Second day, loaded save game, no problems. Same day I downloaded Galactopedia, loaded saved game, still no problems. Third day I load saved game and I
