During your turn, if you clicked on a tile that a battle took place in would it be possible to zoom in on it and see a looped recording of that battle? Would it be possible to see ships that you designed fighting in that battle? <p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt: au
Thanks for taking the time to write this. I tended to keep the categories more generic because they need to be used as bonuses for events and decisions too. Something like "Harmony" can be used broadly, where "Indigenous Cultures" is very specific. Specific is good for the ideology screen, but bad when I'm trying to hook it up to other systems.
Ahhh I see. Thank you for explai
In my opinion this system has room for improvement in regards to making it more intuitive to players. This is because some of the options are not ideologies. For example innovation and compassion are not ideologies, they are traits/attributes. Also, while the stats might make it somewhat cle
I think there's a fantastic opportunity for GalCiv4 to make the first 20 to 100 turns really fun, rewarding and engaging without needing to interact with a major civilization. Considering the new mechanics like core systems, sectors and AI characters; alongside exploring, expanding and exploiting whatever they happen to discover in their sector, the player really can have a lot of fun
Some suggestions: It would probably be clearer to players if instead of calling it an ideology system you call it something like 'Species Traits'; and the various ideologies are just some of the many traits that the player gets to choose from. For example: Liberty vs Authority Decentralizat
What do you guys think about the following: If there are 2 or more good planets in one star system the player could have an option to 'upgrade/promote' a governor to a 'Higher Governor' (a rubbish name I know [e digicons]:P[/e] I'm sure you guys can come up with a better one [e digicons]:digichet:[/e] ). A 'Higher Governor' then gives the player the option to turn a star system into a Core System where all the worlds synergise and give the player powerful and fun new strat
Of course, the reason I want this kind of mechanic is to make Politics a much more important part of the game. If you want to be a democratic republic, you can't just treat the slaves like they're...Well, you can't do it all the time without serious penalties. Maybe if you're going be more autocratic with no elections, well, you can play meaner in that situation. But whichever political system you choose to be, if you w
Great feedback. I think we should probably have a setting for minimum spawn distance players can play with at game setup screen. I also think that the Peacekeepers need to be moved quite a bit further away.
Hey Frogboy have you seen this thread?

I'm looking forward to seeing what Stardock's vision is for this aspect of the game and I hope that we the community can help shape that vision into something that's fun. tid242 mentioned above that the current system is slated for an overhaul, so I'll write some general thoughts but mention something specific about the civilization ideology 'disc' that's in the OP first. The upgrade that's highlighted is called 'Opport
Incorporating the Kardashev Scale into GalCiv4 could make for a fun game mechanic. Maybe each level could unlock various strategic abilities that the player and other factions could use? Normal 0 false false</w:Ignor
Some interesting questions on here. Here are some of mine: So if I've understood correctly, the players interactions with AI characters will be a fundamental part of the GalCiv4 experience and in making the galaxy feel 'Alive'. Does this mean that each game will be its own unique epic emergent story that
Hey Brad, how much of the Political Machine will influence GalCiv4?
I'd vote for making the "Chatter" text and putting it on GNN. Certainly I'd prefer that than knowing the Top 10 Dating Planets. I plant rows and rows of roses on my planets, does me no good....[e digicons]:P[/e] But "Unknown Planet" usually makes a big splash on those kinds of lists. For some reason. And I like tid242's Briefing Report: Having that come up every certain number of turns would be good. It would be better if you co
Yea these are definitely cool ideas that hadn't really occurred to me before. Are you proposing text or audio "chatter", or some combination of the two? I feel like audio would be a pretty big undertaking, but would seem the most appropriate for battle dialogues especially: "I've lost flight controls, we're bleeding out!" etc. As for the empire-wide chatter I agree that it would be interesting if a lot of it were int
Great interview, really informative. Thanks for giving us some insight into what you're vision for GalCiv 4 is. If I've understood correctly you want each game to create a compelling, immersive, epic emergent story that the player wants to see reach its conclusion? If so then that sounds amazing, and will definitely incentivise players to complete a game even on the biggest maps. <w:W
I like the imersion factor this would provide. It would also be cool if the things you can overhear with other civs increases as your tech increases, or as your spies infiltrate etc.
Definitely! Normal 0
Imagine if GalCiv4 made you feel like shouting Khaaaaaaaannn at teh screen!
Since battles can take more than 1 turn, will it be possible for a 3rd faction to join the battle? It would be cool if you're watching the tactical battle and you see a third faction jump into the fray and start engaging both sides. Will it be possible for enemy ships to surrender to you? If they do can you choose to destroy them anyway? Will you be able to board and capture enem

Hey guys, thanks for the introductions, looks like a great team to create GalCiv 4. I hope you're able to bring your vision to reality and truly create the game you want to make. For what it's worth I'll post some ideas/suggestions that you'll hopefully find useful. Good luck! Normal 0</w:Zo
