What is your sector size? I play normal with large sector sizes and almost never have another race in my sector. Of course I only play 7-8 races too...............

Drive Optimization adds moves every time it is researched. It's critical if you're conquering other races later in the game as it reduces travel times from one end of a sector to another. I does bring up a question I've always had.....Does drive optimization affect previously built ships or only new ships? I know fleets will travel at the slowest ship's speed so this is a crucial point.

Conquered colonies with that stupid sensor improvement is my biggest pet peeve with this game. Targeting specific colonies with certain resources would be huge. However, seeing they all have the sensor upgrade already would force me to assign/reassign governors. Not worth it. I hoped this would've been fixed by now.

How large are the sector sizes? I typically play about 7 races, medium sector sizes, and proximity far. And I've never had another race in my sector. Sometimes right outside but never in it.

I've had a few times where I had to search every anomaly in the galaxy. I eventually made progress and found it. It does beg the question if there were no anomalies left - how could you complete the challenge? I usually launch this challenge early in the game to ensure there are plenty of anomalies.

Best part: Ship designer. Would be cool to add more ship parts. Top Fix. When you conquer an enemy core world or colony - you should be able to delete the "improvement" the AI built without having to assign a Governor. Top Wish. Random galaxy-wide events that can dramatically shift the direction of the game. GalCiv III had something like this. You could turn it on/off at start.

I'm posting this observation here as it might relate to the game "hanging" being caused by AI turns. I sent a few assault ships to a Mimot planet to teach them a lesson. While the ships were enroute, they surrendered and turned their planets over to the Drengin. Whom I was at peace with. When my assault ships arrived with a few moves left, I got the message, "fleet has no trade ships" or something like that. I hit enter.

2 options - Colony or transport ships. I do that when I have a whole world full of Yor and got 0 growth. Colony ships to populate whatever little planets and transports to continue my all-out assault on the galaxy. Then, when enough are gone, my colony ships full of Mimot, human, anything but Festron fly in and boom! Re population

Well it's probably not hardware-related. Is is this something that occurs on the very first turn? Try verifying files first. Sometimes files get corrupted/overwritten by the Matrix. I've found this solves a lot of my Gal Civ issues. Then try running the game with like 1-2 opponents and see if you can replicate. Or. Run with your current setup but lower the graphics a bit. Stuff like this helps narrow down the potential issues and helps the game wizards fix or address t

It was supposedly fixed a few months ago but I don't think it worked. I suspect it has something to do with ship range as I I tried to send a ship way out of range and it got hung up at the subspace gate. I think it ran out of move points in the subspace tunnel? It was weird and I should've saved the game.

Document, document, document. As mentioned, you have a number of people prioritizing, coding, and testing and all the other stuff those tech wizards do. However, a document/wiki/web page/coded hologram explaining fully the all the changes goes a loooong way. No sense in making cool changes if the target audience doesn't understand. I've done enough of these to know they're tedious as haggling with Jawas but it'll help reduce follow up questions/explanations. Love the game&

Supposedly a bug fix went in that prevented the AI from hanging up while transiting the subspace gates. It doesn't. I noticed it does it more often when the Mimot are involved. I think it happens because ships are trying to move out of range and they get hung up at the gate. Just an unconfirmed theory. From a certain point of view........

I wonder if there is a Torian citizen somewhere in the galaxy and they don't like you. The Drengin don't like you either. You just watch yourself, we're wanted men on 12 systems.... Oh the humor.........

I had to play around with the graphics settings to get it somewhat workable. Turn off a few things, anti-aliasing, etc. Also, I've found if you have ships with a lot of bling/design gizmos/spacial nick nacks/animations, that hurts performance as well.

There used to be a mass upgrade/update feature in GC2 or 3. I think 3. If you were out of territory it took a few turns for some ships to upgrade though. Also it was expensive to do mass upgrades

What I've been doing is as my newer upgraded ships are launched and join the fleets, I decommission the older ones. Or send them on suicide missions to slow the hordes of Mimot furballs. Kind of a rolling upgrade.
