1.00 siege ships weren't overpowered. However, new players couldn't understand why they aren't invincible when going on a full out defense, a lesson that I learned the folly of rather quickly. Siege ships just can't do that anymore. That sums up the issue perfectly. If I invest in 20 siege ships, I better damn well take out a few planets. Siege ships aren't a viable strategy anymore.

The [link="http://www.ironcladgames.com/sins/screenshots.html"]older 3d models[/link] certainly have a charm to them. Although the new models look a lot more refined. It would be soo cool to play a game with the old models
Part of the reason online is dead is due to the glaring imbalances in the current patch. Nobody wants to play a game where everyone's just going to the same thing every match. Hopefully the major buff to strike craft and change to repulsion will open up some actual strategy once again.
Yeah I'm looking forward to it!!
Not overly pleased about this, but I guess I can understand wanting to make this major update a pain for pirates to get a hold of.

Just make it an ability for flak/defense frigates, that way they can be a little more useful.
I really like this idea.
Electronic warfare or ECM frigates are a good idea for a counter frigate Although that wouldn't really do anything against the advent LRF
I usually convert my class 4's (especially the ones beside the homeworld) to mini production planets for light defence and sensor craft (very useful early game imo, especially if you chose military production master for race) Two factories (and any more I can add on due to terraforming later), one starport., and of course the capital. Although I think dedicating those planets to research works well too. (depending on the size of map you are playing)
WOOHOO! Downloading now..
Lots of great improvements I can't wait to give it a go
Hey guys, I was wondering what kinda tactics you employ to win suicidal games, especially early game. I find I cant win unless I boost up diplomacy to max and tech pimp (won a game on large map, 9 civs employing this tactic). Otherwise (say I choose Yor and max out production) I usually fall waaaay too far behind tech wise (usually military aswell) early on and all the computers come in for the kill after about 30 turns. Thoughts
I hate the smelly humans, the drath are usually on my hit list too However the Korx, Drengin and Yor are like bros
I normally use mini soldiers or info late game. Although if I am greatly outnumbered, I use mass drivers. Or if I am low on teh cashy I will use the gas
I couldnt even see the button. I just clicked where you guys said it would be then it appeared. I guess my monitor is really dark. Thanks btw
Hey guys, I was wondering how you get your metaverse stats to show below your posts like so many of you do! From what I can see, nothing shows for me, although ive played a few metaverse games and submitted them.
Proper management of the tax rate/industrial capacity sliders, and the military/social/research rate sliders play a big role in whether you sink or swim on the higher levels. I didnt even know about the industrial cap slider until after I played 4 or 5 games (no, i didnt read the tutes lol ) I just beat a game on crippling last night. <img
I was in a similar situation last night, but against the humans. comps can sure amass a large, powerful fleet if given the time. Anyway, my military was totally outnumbered. I knew this before hand and decided to do something before it was too late. Most of the galaxies current ships (including the large earthling cruisers) were massive cannon/armour dreadnaughts. I quickly allocated my research points into laser weapons and teched up the tr
