For the most part, people dont. I dont call myself "French American". And indeed, if you want to be inclusive, African is exclusive. You exclude all blacks that do not have roots in Africa (a great deal considering Caribean and South American Blacks as well as Australians). Besides, again "Italian American" is not comparable to "African American". To be comparable, you would have to say "European American". Me? I wont say either. If you like and insist, I will call you a black
I noticed at first that us jews have a victim mentality, later I noticed that it is shared by the african americans. American blacks just go through life as if they personally were slaves to all people who have white skin, regardless of the hundreds of years passed, regardless of the actual nationality of those "white people". They are the victims, and they will be damned if they let anyone forget that.
This is a very useless generalization. What is
But guess what, I believe I have African blood in me because my Grandfather from my om's side is Black. Does that mean I can say the N word too (I refuse to use it because I think it's very disrespectful even coming from a Black person)?
LOL. Me too. Or at least I found white people in my ancestry. Guess I can't use the N-word without retaliation.
Charles, you say a good number a good things but I also think you hold what I have learned is a common view held by some white people. I think there are a great deal of double standards in this country. While most are bad and need to be done away with, some are not. For example, you probably hate that I will refer to myself as an African-American (yes, we are Americans, too). But no one seems to get to upset at someone calling him/herself Irish American or Italian-Am
I think it's a great move. I have been an Obama supporter since he ran for state senate in Chicago 6 years ago. I've always respected McCain as uniter. With this, he's really got my attention now. Let's see what happens at the RNC, if and when it happens.
Still never got an answer to what made Wrigth a heretic. Wrong for sure, but a heretic? How?
I would have no idea, but after even two such "performances" would be enough for a man of G-d to say "see ya!" and look for another church.
Sure, but I think it's unfair (and easily untrue) to think that this was every Sunday or even the majority of Sundays for 20 years. In the Chicagoland area, Wright was known for his congregations community service. It has been said that the KKK does community service, but are they known for that? I digress. T
What do you mean? It's not nor was ever about color. The bible is colorless. Blacks and whites who are serious about God should have no problem worshipping together. They must remember it's NOT about them. It's ALL about God. It's NOT about THEIR agenda. It's ALL about GOD'S agenda.
Your first post said nothing about worship or fellowship. You said that a person should pick a church based on what they believe. There is nothing Biblical about that.
I can appreciate you defending Hussien, but come on now, the Trinity United just did not suddenly turn into a racist church over night.
Sure, but was it that way outwardly? Was it that way for all of the last twenty years?
You should go to a particular church because they best represent what you believe. And for 20 years we can now see quite clealy where Obama has aligned himself.
Don't you think that's part of the problem? If we follow that, blacks and whites will never go to church together. KFC, I assume you believe the Bible. Isn't church for the fellowship and gathering of believers?
Yes, cg, thanks for asking. I'm healing, (albeit slowly) and have a way to go with physical therapy, having lost a good deal of flexibility in my right wrist. Other than that, I'm just hanging in there, waiting for the next thing to go wrong, haha.
Good to hear you are doing better.
If a church is preaching heresy you shouldn't need 20 years to figure this out. Usually a few months will suffice. Then you have the decision to make. Do I stay because I like the people and enjoy the friendships or do I leave because I'm contributing to..in this case a "hate filled" atmosphere from the very top? This preacher just didn't start ranting and raving. This church has a racist history behind it, so it's not brand new. It's only coming to the forefront now because of Obama's
So what you're saying is "why in the world would we want to vote for someone like Obama who doesn't know what's going on even in his own church (forget about a whole country) after being a part of this church for 20 years?"
Sure KFC, but how many of us who go to church see an immoral downfall coming? If we have a pastor who has a moral failure, does that automatically disqulify us? I have been a part of churches that I did not fully embrace. Even Piper
Yeah, but Obama should've left earlier if he'd heard it. But he probably wasn't in church anyways.
I think that's the whole problem with this rush to judement. If we are not there, then it's hard to say what went on there every Sunday. I have not been in one place for twenty years, but I have had religious leaders shock me with words or behavior. I think he was blind-sided.
Makes a comment to whine about someone's whining says this. I LOL'd.

It seems all peope know how to do is whine.
Good point. You have proven it well.
You call it hating, but it's a true statement.
Do you have proof of this? You have seen him sneak or slither?
twenty years he was associated with this church and listenning to all these anti-white radical rhetoric comments
Really? Mr. Wright gave the same sermon for twenty years? What proof do you have of this?
BTW Sabrina, how are you? You had surgery recently, right?
And your point is?
The point there was that I don't have a 'get of out jail' race card. Not that racism doesn't exist but that race, particularly being black, is not some sort of convience.
I was not talking black or white, purple charteuse green or lavender. I was talking attitude. Those that have it, succeed. So if you (the royal you) are looking for a crutch, you will never go anywhere. If you are determined to succeed,
One interesting thing about slavery that you hardly hear mentioned is that other blacks (possibly rival tribes) are the people that captured and sold the slaves to the white (mostly Dutch) slavers. The white guys didn't go into the jungle; they waited on the docks, with the cash, beads, and trinkets, whatever. So blacks are equally responsible, at least in some respects. Besides, before the whites ever came these tribes would often make slaves of conquers enemies.
Hmmm.
Slavery ended 150 years ago, lynchings (en masse) ended about 40 years ago. They are certainly in the past, but they have had long lasting effects on us all. Black people can feel it most, and it can make us angry. But not all black people hate everything white. African-Americans still have some issues that can often come out, but black people from other countries are less likely to have the same issues. Also, younger generations who never saw the sixtie
I'm a black guy. How dare you notice someones race! And then you spoke about it!?! (dripping with sarcasm). If we are even to get past some of the racial tension in this country, we need to be able to talk freely about race. I used to get responses like that when I was in college in sticks. I remember addressing a room full of about 300 students one night. People were acting weird while I was talking. Someone said it was because I said the word bl
I hope that doesn't mean me. I almost never agree with some of the stuff said here, but I never stoop to name calling or insults. I try to keep on subject.
BTW, can someone help me with that whole quote thing. Can't get it to work right.
We can't equate the killing in abortion with the killing of a soldier sent to battle in war. Sure. But we can equate whether different acts are moral or not. What about the question of the morality of the GOP. And I don't mean what some Republicans have been accused (ie Mark Foley), but their platform. Do you consider it to be totally moral?
Keep? Now I know you are delusional! Earth to Loon! Earth to Loon! This is 2008, NOT 1980. Isn't the governor of California a recently elected actor?
