Looks great! He's such a cutie pie. He looks good with long or short hair. - Nancy

Why is your kid so adorable??!! that is a great picture. Looks like you had a TON of stuff! Is there anything left in your house? Hope everything went well. Nancy
Congratulations, Jamie! I love reading your blog. Good luck with your garage sale! I hope you can find time to watch your videos. They sound great! Nancy
Would you believe that I didn't know baseball was entertaining until the Cubs almost made it to the World Series two years ago? I always had the impression that it was a bunch of guys standing around waiting to see if the batter would hit the ball, and that was the only exciting moment. And since so few batters made it on base, it seemed like the most boring game in the world. But when I watched the Cubs two years ago (I'm originally from Il
Jamie, You did another great job with your reviews this season. I didn't watch the show but I read your AI posts regularly. I felt like I really kept up with things because of your insightful comments. Who needs to spend hours watching the show when you can just read Jamie's blog, I say! Great job! Nancy
This was the first time I actually turned into the competition this season. I had to switch the channel a couple times when the songs got especially excrutiating. But I'm surprised to hear you say that you don't expect much from Constantine. I thought he gave by far the best performance. And I especially liked Simon's comment about his pout ("I give your vocals a 7, but I give your pout a 9.5.") I think Constantine could make a great singer of pow
What about Paula Abdul???? She is cute, sweet, has a decent voice, dances like nobody's business. Was she too much of a superstar in her day? Or, do judges not get to also compete? I'd probably vote for Janet Jackson over Paula Abdul, though. I think Debbie Gibson's chances would be good. She was great as Debbie but I don't know about as Deborah, I haven't heard any Deborah songs. Bon Jovi's chances are also good. I think he's
Poor Kenny! I hope he gets better soon. Nancy
I heard about this on the news. So sad for Twins fans! What I also heard was that they have some of his announcements on tape (they mentioned the "No smoking in the metrodome") and they are going to try to figure out a way to play them during the games. So, he's not gone! Nancy
I love this! I really hope people do it. Hey all you college students - when you do this, make sure to post your professor's reaction to Jamie's blog. If I take a summer class I'll do it! I think College of Education professors would especially love something like that at the end of a paper. They'd probably have no sense of humor about it. Nancy
I meant an unbiased one, like one that knows what bias is? So by "unbiased" you mean one that agrees with you?
Can you link to that study? I heard just the opposite. The study was done by the Project for Excellence in Journalism and you can read it here: http://www.journalism.org/resources/research/reports/campaign2000/lastlap/default.asp The main finding was that in the last few weeks of the
A similar study after the last presidential election found that Al Gore received much more negative coverage that Bush. Does that mean the media had a right wing bias back then? No. If the media in general has any bias at all, it is towards easy-to-tell stories. And the easiest to tell stories for journalists are those that inspire sympathy and those that inspire outrage. Stories that inspire sympathy tend to lean left, since it's the lefties who care about the poor and the disadva
So it’s been a while since I’ve written anything on this blog, and that’s due in part to the string of bad luck my family has endured in the last month or two. It started small. Our garage door opener broke. I’ve always heard that homeowners have to do a lot of maintenance, but since I’ve only lived in a house for nine months, this was the first major hom
Jamie, Your supposition about "Knock on Wood" is exactly right. It was a hit song by the soul duo Sam and Dave in the 60's, and then remade as a disco hit in the 70's. It's funny, because last season, somebody sang that song on Disco night, and I had the same reaction as you but in reverse. "Is this a disco song?" You know, I'm almost sad that I'm not watching American Idol this season, just because I can't respond to your posts.
Sorry Nancy and I caused so much controversy, Jamie. Or got sucked into in anyway. I agree that your blog, even with your sense of humor, need not support the posting of jokes about murder, even of celebrities. I also promise never to call anyone an idiot over the internet again. Keepin' it positive! (But incidentally, I'm sad you deleted your email about not wanting to be invited to my dinner parties. That was frea
I don't know why I care what ParaTed2k thinks of John Lennon's music. I should just feel sorry for you, that this wealth of wonderful pop music is unavailable to you. But I feel compelled to point out that Paul McCartney, and not John Lennon, wrote "The Yellow Submarine" and "The Fool on the Hill". So using them to somehow prove that John Lennon was an idiot does a better job of making you look like one. As for "I Am the Walrus," the lyri
I've had good luck with Rhapsody, but you can only play the songs on Real Player. Rolling Stone's website is linked to Rhapsody, so if you're on their website and you like the review of the album, you can click a link to that album with songs for sale for $.99 per song or an album per about $10. The only website I've found that lets you download Mp3 files, as opposed to restrictive file formats, is emusic.com. But they are a subscription ser
Yeah, its funny, after I posted the review, it occurred to me that you'd have to read most of what I wrote before you were sure it wasn't a review of a porno. Oh well.
Since I’m currently in the process of trying to turn my parenthood writing into some kind of publishable something, I decided that I would start using my blog to write about the books I’m reading, movies I’m watching and music I’m listening to, and those of you who read this can let me know what art you’re consuming lately. This weekend Nancy and I watched an
That is so fantastic! Thanks for sharing that moment with us. Nancy
Happy Anniversary! It sounds (and looks) like you had a great time! Nancy
That is a FANTASTIC picture! Kazuko, you look alarmingly natural with a big wad of chew in your lip. Nancy
Happy Birthday, Kenny! We were so sad we couldn't make it to celebrate with you guys. It looks like a fun party!
This is Nancy - We saw the lights and wouldn't have known about them if it weren't for you! These must have been pretty spectacular. I have lived in the Twin Cities since 1994 and I haven't seen them since then. This was the first time I saw them in the Cities AND they were probably the biggest ones I've ever seen. My parents saw them in Wisconsin, too. What a treat!
