yes, you need to restore the original logonui.exe before uninstalling

oooh that.. think i know what you mean. its never on the logons i create so i completely forgot about it. theres a line, or part of a line that adds the "flag" (or rather, an image that is the flag), so you can just cut it out i think. id have to crosscheck it with my logons, but i think thats how i do it.
..? what flag??
maybe cut back on the number of random bootskins? :/
I like seeing the windows logon 'creatively' re done, ala. all those "Windows XP: somedifferent Edition". it shows imagination, creativity and a degree of skill.. but thats just me. and i just reckon a progress bar needs to be there, as Fuzzy Logic said (that and i suffer slightly from ADHD so if something is moving it keeps my attention for a short bit
just curious as to why it wasnt applied after 45 mins... (should be almost instantaneous)
there was a really basic tutorial, that i think comes with logon studio... ive only found two tutorials on the nitty gritty with logons (if you use stylexp, its code hacking.. and they have a dodgey way of loading the logons anyway). youre best taking someones, and learning from it (without ripping them off). i personally use Photoshop (CS 2 to be precise), and in conjunction with PSP 7.. i was a bit disappointed that logon studio
either theyve modified the user account image, or modified the UIFILE.txt and specified a colour around the user account
yeah, thats the prob. with mucking around with the Welcome and/or shut down text; you can only really see it when you log in/out. even if you dont shut down to do that, you still have to close everything to log out (and ive usually got half a dozen things open at the time, including Photoshop).
yeah, i apologise in advance if the comments are a bit hard to understand.. ive been planning on making a tutorial, but things got really busy in the last few months. effectively, youve got to play around with the width values to make sure that the whole message(s) appears. then fart around with positioning them..
its not really the colour, its more angles/edges/etc; they'll staircase/look blocky, not to mention that bringing it into widescreen would make things look fat..
doesnt using non-standard fonts mean that for systems without that font, itll show up in.. godknows what? cause i doubt logonstudio (or rather, the logonui.exe) bundles the fonts used...
exactly as Hus said: apples prob. doing this to avoid being sued/taken to court for monopolising their other products with their OS (though with MS, some of the stuff you get with windows isnt that great next to a commercial product, or that some of the "rival" software out there isnt as good as what comes free with Windows... )
blowing up any images that are even at 1600x1200 arent gonna look good.. esp. at 1920x1200, as its a widescreen res (not 4:3 like 1024x768, 1280x960, etc). id do custom reses, cept i cant do above 1280x1024, let alone widescreen (aah.. if only for a widescreen notebook) only thing i can think of is having to severely mod the logons so that theres black/solid colour around the edges, and center the whole logon.. :/
hehehe.. the word computer in the first post has the double-underlined green text (IntelliTXT)
thats because Logon Studio (for some reason) doesnt actually allow you to see it. all of my logons show what you want to appear; youll need to check out the UIFILE.txt. ive left comments where those bits are and what you need to change to make them show. from memory, logonstudio makes the width of the Welcome message, and the "Windows is shutting down, etc" text to be 0, so it doesnt show up.
the logon shutdown and please wait dialogues dont have any images; theyre just text.. as for the problem at hand.. try making it in logonstudio didnt realise you can make logons in skin studio.. can you apply any logons from wincustomize?
so i take it noone has submitted a logon, got it approved, then gone "ooh.. theres a typo" or "now i want to add a URL to something that complements it"?
Im just wondering what is the proper way to edit the logon description text after youve gotten one submitted and approved? cause i tried to change the text in my doom 3 logon by going update, changing the text, then submitting, but its still the same (except now its forgotten the return tags, so all the sentences following one after the other). am i supposed to do it like above, but also submit the logon file and preview image again??
Yahoo has the same thing even including the pay service. That EULA is a bitch eh? thats for individual accounts.. google could kill the whole gmail thing given its not an openly/publicly released.. otherwise, why are they holding back making it completely open?
i personally dont like G-Mail, and the way google handles your emails (i mean, they dont technically get deleted from their servers). and remember GMail is still technically beta; you can only get it via an invitation.. they could just close it down (for god knows what reason), and noone can really bitch about it. and i doubt google likes the idea that people are using the email service as an online virtual drive.. ive been happy
youll need to reinstall bootskin. i had it before SP2, and afterwards it didnt work (id get a split-second glimpse of the original boot screen before my custom one). after i reinstalled it, it worked fine.
Most of my logons have comments with the uifile.txt that tell you basically what each line does, and what modifying does to it. Im going to be uploading a Doom 3 logon thats got better commenting and clearer section definition (as in, where the shutdown button is, where the welcome text is, etc). ive got it to show the "Welcome" text, the "windows is shutting down/starting up" text and some other things that logonstudio doesnt do, as well as how to
pro (SP2) id rather Win 2k over Home (which was what i did with my notebook initially)
thats why you should make the progress bar IN the background, reduce the colours, then cut the progress bar out (think one of the bootskin tutorials even says that)
