So something I started thinking about yesterday that is bugging me is citizen ideology traits and culture unlocks.
There are quite a few unlocks that only affect citizens with corresponding ideological trait (individualism in particular has about 4 to the best of of memory). Now as far as I can tell it seems fairly random as to how these traits appear in your populace. I also dont see anyway of encouraging or promoting certain traits. I also don't know if any of these unlocks are retroactive are just work on the x number of applicable citizens you have. I feel if the appearance of ideological traits in your populace is entirely out of your control its not very fair to have so many unlocks that are reliant on certain traits being there in the first instance.
So to summarize it would be good to have answers to the following so we can have a better understanding of whats happening under the hood.
-What determines what citizens gets what ideological trait, is it random, is it due to the level of "ideological awareness/discount" you have?
-Some policies are tagged with certain ideologies, does using them increase trait adoption?
-Do culture unlocks that grant bonuses on citizens with "X" ideology trait apply retroactively (as in if a citizen develops the trait after unlocking still get the bonus?
-Can the system be manipulated to increase the adoption of particular ideological traits?
It would be good to get some dev feedback on this.
Thanks.
