where are the planet city lights?

i remember in one of the journals and game examples, it was said that planets would have city lights show on them where you've built stuff. I even saw a screenshot of this. I haven't seen any lights on my planets. Has anybody else had this problem or do your planets show city lights? Do you need to be a certain level of technological development for them? I have planets full of research labs, factories, markets etc, no tile is empty, but still no lights

Maybe its something to do with your hardware? Lack of full H&T lighting or some missing DX9 features. That or for some reason its turned off in your copy of GC2.

In my game the lights don't appear on most planets, but they do on a few. I'm don't know what determines if they appear or not.

does it have to do with level of technological development or some specific structures?

ok it has to have something to do with the technological level the buildings you build on your planet are because my planets which have mo lights are not really even past the first tier of buildings but the race that i saw who did have lights has advanced buildings on his planets so i assume thats it.

I have fully built up planets of all mid game technology with 10 billion population. No lights at ANY of them.

I also have a GF6800 so i know i can support it.

its weird but some planets get lights others don't. I'm all confused. I wish someone from stardock can clear this mess up for us.

are we few the only ones concerned about this?

Quite possibly

I made two posts on the fact that nearly all core ships have the wrong weapons and defense graphics. It was just a point of interest and not a complaint but my revelation got zero comments from anyone

hehe or you might get a comment like "eye candy isn't that important to us" but to that I would say, well its in the game s all I ask is that it work right. I want my planet's lights to show accurately damnit

The lights have to do with the planets population and its Class. the more people on the planet the more ligts you should see.

well on my class 10 planet i've had 15 billion people yet no lights, but one of the ai planets were class 8 with 5 billion yet he had lights...

i understand thats how its supposed to work, but as I'm trying to say, its bugged. It is not working like that at all. I have talked to many other people and they see the same things happening as I do. Planets with extremely high pops having no lights, planests with low pops with tons of lights, and yes I have even seen uninhabited planets actually have lights...Now before you say anything, yes those planets were uninhabited, i even sent a colony ship there to make sure and it was. Now to me these things show that the planet lights system is not working as intended, it is actually completely random. This is a bug. I wish it would be acknowledged as such so that it can be eventually fixed instead of ignored or excused.

I have an ATI Radeon x850 Pro, and I've yet to see any lights on planets. I've played a few games to completion, as well -- I've had high population planets.

Come on guys, we need more of you to post about this in here. I know a lot more of you have this bug, I've talked to a bunch of you about it. We need to get stardock's attention that this isn't working right. That it is indeed a bug and should be put on their list of bugs to fix.

I have just started playing a couple of games but no lights on a 6800GT. I don't mind the lights not showing because the game is so fun. But, I'll vote yes for a fix since anything else added to the game will make it that much better

I have never seen any planet lights either. For what it's worth, I'm using an ATI X800XL.

I saw lights on my homeworld ONCE. Udeveloped class 10 world with a moon, I developed it and then the lights disappeared. I don't even have lights on my class 19 uber-developed world!

I also have no planets with lights. Infact, the only time I have seen a planet that has visible lights coming from the surface was in the one screen shot in the Dev journals.

FIX IT OR FEAR MY WRAITH!

No lights here on a GF 66000

I've seen a *lot* of lights on a class 21 planet with about 6k people on it I think. It was one of the rare cases. It seems class might count more than population ?

Nothing here either. Once i even built a ton of farms on Earth just to see what happens. The population did go over 30 - 35 billions and still no lights. I have seen some lights on one of my planets though. It was a Class 8 with 10 billions, and they seemed like little squares when i zoomed in.
