i just started playing and im trying to increase my trade....i have an agreement with different races but from what i googled i need a frieghter to make that possible...and i need the "trade" option researched....i googled both and spent awhile looking at the tech trees and can not find trade anywhere....or something thats lets me build frieghters
Look in the tech tree and find a yellow technology series known as Trade. You should be able to research it after you research Diplomatic Relations if you are playing with most tech trees.
Alternatively, you could take the Super Trader ability and get all three Trade technologies right off the bat.
When I have tech tree questions, I almost always fire up the free Galactopedia app that a couple of players developed years ago.
It is .NET dependent, but most PCs have .NET installed these days. It's a simple GUI that reads and lets you search the XML files behind the tech trees. You can even switch between the trees for DL, DA, and TA.
The Trade tech is not available in some of the campaign missions.
