Under the Game Rules before a match starts, you can set the number of times the player(s) can pause a match. I haven't tried to pause it yet, so I can't tell you with certainty, but I'm assuming that that is how it works. Also, no, you can't save. There really isn't much to save. Most matches seem to be pretty quick.
