The galaxy isn't infinite. Nor is the universe.

I may agree that the galaxy is not infinate. I can however say that there is no measure of the universe so a guess is only going to be spectulation. There are those that believe there are intellegent life out there and are at this moment searching for it, me included, SETI(Search for Extraterrestrial Intellegence) has been on the search for years and they have found some signals like the "WOW" Signal that might point to the existence of interstellar life. I don't think that the government could cover up such a secret for so long most of there secrets are no longer secrets within a day or so, so it is pointless to try and hide something from the press.

The universe in space is infinite but not in matter there is a definate amount so there is also a definate of planets stars galaxies and solar systems and most likely there are other life forms but most likely they are too far away to be any problem were probably the only ones in this galaxy at least for now.

There are other sentient species in the universe. I dont think God would waste so much space. In our galaxy maybe. But a galaxy is far too big to even think about meeting it. The distances involved would prevent any real interaction.

Given the amount of signals we are broadcasting into space, since the 1940's, which will continue through space for ever. It's rather telling that so far we have picked up zero signals in space from any other source. This points to the fact that intelligent life is very, very, very rare.

So those original signals are only now 60-70 light years away from us.

If an alien civilization did exist with a similar level of technology - lets say 500 years in advance of ours - then we would only receive those signals if they live within 500 light years of Earth, and we were listening, and pointing our receivers in the right direction.

In 1000 years we could be using a completely different form of communication. Alien races could already be beyond that, or maybe not up to our level of technology. What are the chances of us being in communications range, at the right level of technology, at the right time, given the age of our planet alone?

Even if we receive a signal, and decode it, and reply, who's to say that race will get the reply? They might be long dead, living somewhere else, using different forms of communication etc.

Does alien life exist? Yes

Does intelligent alien life exist? Possibly

Will we communicate with aliens any time soon? No

Are intelligent aliens visiting Earth? Very doubtful, but who knows?

Is there a conspiracy to cover it up? "LOL" - that's all I can say.

I'm sure they will have a Galactic Phone Number Portability feature set up. Or at the very least they'll leave a forwarding message. "We're sorry, but the Dirtbaggians are no longer at Aldeberan V. To serve you better, we have moved to Procyon XII and are now using Split-Beam Coded Tachyon Emissions as our preferred mode of communication. Please route all further communications through our probe on Uranus."

It's hard to say whether the universe is infinite. One thing for sure is that the universe is constantly expanding which has been proven through red shifts (don't know what those are? Look it up!) According to what you all have been saying, yes the universe is not infinite, but it is constantly expanding into infinity.

I dunno if that makes sense...

A lightyear is something like 600,000,000 miles.(Correct me if I'm wrong) Considering that this life may not even be in the same galaxy as us, I find it highly unlikely that it'd ever reach us, even if we did some how create "Light Speed Travel", which I understand is impossible.

Wrong. It had a beginning, (the big bang), it has been expanding ever since, (tracable by heat radiation) and thus it is finite. And is measurable, but it's not accurate, and I don't know the numbers offhand.
