Sounds like driver problems to me, but without a debug file, hard to help out.

I think the beta patch installer should require you to type in a sentence along the lines of "I understand that this is a beta patch and that it may be full of bugs and errors that I would not otherwise encounter. I promise not to complain and whine since I am installing this patch of my own free will and have been warned of potential errors."

It should be required to type in every single letter, not just press "Yes" after ignoring the text.

The simple fact is you get these same people on every game that comes out. While this person may not be quite this bad, I find the words "top of the line" to be telling. Often people have a sort of "The oil comes with the car" mentality to computer software maintenance, and there is the problem. They think that you just install windows, and then take whatever drivers come off the CD, and your set. They also think that every little widget they find online should be allowed to start during bootup. And they think Spybot Search and Destroy is an action packed Sci-Fi movie.

Still, it is better to help than ridicule. I would recommend posting a debug log or something that might allow others to help.

Without sounding rude, if 'trying to fix' means uninstall and reinstall the game, you may consider some friend that has more knowledge about PC's than you. 80% of the time, I would say, crashes and similiar problems are poping up because the person simply can't handle a PC correctly so it works just fine.

Call me crazy, but I am beginning to suspect that these kinds of posts are being made by people who work for a company(ies) that is not at all happy with the amazing success a small dev has had selling a game with ZERO copy protection.

Can there really be that many PC users out there who have no idea what BETA means? Maybe, but I am still suspicious.

No, no, the game is obviously worthless.
I mean, if a top of the line computer cant even run the beta, after being fixed repeatedly by a top of the line pc owner, then the game is obviously crap.
Which mean of course, that a very large portion of gamers enjoy playing crap games that dont play at all on thier less than top of the line systems, because this is, after all, a top ten selling game.

Seriously, take these posts at thier face value. Anyone who can pick out what the top of the line equipment even IS, has done thier homework and knows PC's well. This guy is just a kid who thinks, like most kids, that there is nothing outside his world that he cant see, and that if it doesnt work for him, it works for no one else either.

My recomendation is that he have his father take away his PC priviledges until he learns how to spell "driver".

I have to say, most of the fans of this game are really jerks. This guy is just expressing some frustration 'cause he is missing out on what is a good game. He even said that he acknowledges that Stardock has put a lot of effort into it and he respects that, but what kind of people are you that you have to just lambast him for not knowing everything about computers.

Everyone complains about "these kinds of posts" but seriously, I'm more annoyed with the surplus of replies flamming someone just for not being up to some standard of knowledge you seem to think exists to be allowed to play. Come off it!

I'm using a NASA mainframe and the game runs fine.
Seriously though, try lowering the 'anit-aliasing' or turning it off. This may help with your glitches/stuttering.

Game runs flawlessly for me and most others I'll wager. It's the puter and it's user that create the diversity of gameing results as do many other programs to one degree or another. My machine and I are old friends and she still suprises me with an unexpected glitch every now and then.

However, the truth is that stardock is awsome..I know this and support them! 100% trust me..
I was just venting my frustration towards the fact that it's the little things to me in a game that count.

The flag ship....The star trek looking one...Yes that one...Look at it in the viewer from all angles ...Its plain as day..THE ARMS THAT STICK OUT FROM THE SIDE OF THE HULL ARE NOT SYMMETRICAL! excuse my yelling....

The game is great! I just was dissappointed by to many little flaws....BETA....whatever I know....Subtitles...lol geez....You guys are something else...can i run the pc lol......

Also, are you running multiple apps at once? Turn bit torrent off. Dont watch a movie and play at the same time... I have what is considered top of the line, I oc and I can still play the game just fine. I have been working in tech support for a long time and the amount of people who dont know how to use a computer is just staggering. This type of posts are just par for the course, computers are like pet monsters... you treat them well and know how, they will work great. No idea, be prepared for pain. Like so many have posted, please post the debug file. There are many here with more knowledge that is willing to help out so your not left in the dust like so many other games that I can mention.

I too have noticed that the audio stutters in a way that it didnt previously do.
My impression is that too many audio channels are being used at once - are they being released when they are not being used anymore?
